I know you say that your cooking videos are the most worthwhile ones that you do, I enjoy those very much, but if you find yourself decluttering little areas around the house, I would totally watch them! I know others do videos like that too, but I feel you are one of the most sensible and relatable ones to watch. ❤
Decluttering isn't just about having a tidy home; it's about freeing up mental space and reducing daily overwhelm. Letting go of things that don't serve us can genuinely transform how we feel in our homes and open up time for what really matters!
i just wanted to comment here because you're the first youtube I started watching when I had my first baby 4 years ago. I was looking for minimalism baby videos, and found your channel. I have since moved to the countryside, we have started farming and I am now living in a house from the 1800s. You have been such an inspiration to me. So thank you so much
I can see the difference in your home compared to previous videos and you've done such a tasteful job! I've also found that decluttering and limiting my inventory of items helps keep stress and overwhelm at bay.
“Weigh on me” is such a perfect expression.. I do know the junk I have hidden. Can’t see it but I know it’s there and “ it weighs on me”! You’re such a motivator!! Thank u!!!!
As a momma to 13 I can agree with you on many points. When we downsized after several married, I got rid of 3 can loads of things I spent my"free time" MANAGING. IT'S FREEING. THIS Christmas all the married children are getting our favorite toys I couldn't get rid of.. blocks, Noah's Ark and animals, etc. One suggestion is that you assign an older child and a younger child to take you hustle and do. Bathrooms, steps swept, trash cans in every room emptied, dishes put away, and also outdoor/barn chores. Rotate jobs monthly. Then if someone is going to visit everyone checks their area and YOU INSPECT. T LIFTS your load and the children are trained to keep a home orderly. The older train the younger because YOU'VE TRAINED THE OLDERS .
Lisa you’re a genius and I 66 years old grandma admire the way you manage your home! Actually I stopped making meal plans and because of you I’m a lot happier in my kitchen! I buy the things we like to eat and when the pantry is well stocked I can just relax and prepare whatever we feel like eating! Thank you very much! I do the same when we’re having guests staying at our home. Well stocked, no stress 🙏🏼🙏🏼🥳🥳👌
I love how you moved that red item twice, then stuffed it into your back pocket! Then you just kept going . . . love your energy and home. We recently moved and are renovating, so your videos have been so inspiring lately. Thank you for sharing your life.
Came back to watch this a second time... our household of nine requires a lot of maintenance and I find a lot of inspiration seeing how you do it with ten people! Thank you for showing some real life messes as you tidy... we all enjoy living so much more when there is less to look after! God bless you as you make home a joy-filled haven for your loved ones!
I love this style video!!! I love hearing your voiceovers and seeing so much of your house. It may seem kind of weird, but I love that you don't have perfectly clean floors nor do you have all these fancy vacuums. I live in a small converted barn 10 feet away from a horse and there's no mudroom so winters are very muddy. Refreshing to see just simple cleaning instead of tons of products and techniques. Thank you for another lovely video!! 😊
Our house caught fire in July, and man, that forced us to go through EVERYTHING and only keep the things that were necessary and / or meaningful. It really made us think about what we want to put back in the house when it has been repaired. ❤ keep things organized and not cluttered.
@FarmhouseonBoone Thank you. It's been a hard season, but God is so faithful to show us the goodness in it. No one was hurt, and we were able to get rid of things that we held on to and had become a burden, honestly.
Homes automatically look 1000x cleaner with less stuff in it. All on its own. I agree with everything said. As a mama of of 5.. i do the same thing as you
I have always tried to keep my home simple and uncluttered and after having to clean out my moms home after her dearh she liked to keep everything i have pared down things even more i find it freeing
Wow, your home was already so cute, but the level of beauty and charm is just so palpable and elevated now, even though you can’t even really see where the clutter is gone. It’s like it’s really breathing. So lovely. 🌸
I recently bought a house having lived in flats and house-shares for many years. I am completely overwhelmed by trying to keep everything organised despite there only being me and my partner living here! Seeing you manage a large house with 8 kids is inspirational. Thank you for the tips 🥰
Professional cleaning company owner here: hire a niece to help with weekly dusting and mopping... Get a robot vacuum to run nightly....teach children to run their laundry (they love it) ! These little assistants even in the slightest, really really help with taking the weight off your plate. 👌🏼
This was such an inspirational video. I never really thought about how "someday" project clutter creates guilt and could misalign priorities. Essentially, all of your tips provide a valuable lesson on how to be kinder to ourselves by making things more manageable. Thank you! ❤
I went on a decluttering buzz over a couple of weeks I took a lot of worn out things to the dumpster and have taken 3 loads to donate It feels so good to have spaces that are empty now Still more to do but nursing multiple broken ribs so more will have to wait a bit
If we are starting from an impossible starting point with our homes, everything else will fall behind. This sentence hit me hard. I am so hard on myself for failing at housekeeping, but I’m starting from an impossible starting point. I guess this means I will need to continue decluttering and removing from my home until I can manage
For me i have come around those “some day” projects eventually. If i have the space to have it organised, even if im not using in this point in my life, im happy with it. Like I know I would not spend my Saturday knitting if i had a free Saturday, but in a year or two when my kids are busier with school m, yes sure I would spend days on end with it. So having a “knitting crate” ready for me to dream of all the things im going to knit one day, makes me happy and doesn’t make me feel guilty at all. If i was to move though, I would get rid of it. So it definitely depends in your lifestyle. But yea be honest on how you feel.
I’ve been waiting for you to do a fall/winter wardrobe video, I’m glad we got a taste of it today! I love your simple but put together style. I tried this fall to simplify my seasonal wardrobe and I’m now excited for what I have and I don’t have to dig through my closet to get to the pieces I want, rather all the pieces I want and will wear often!
I feel like a lot of young moms are overwhelmed because with a baby and a toddler, everytime you start a task there is a fight, spill, disaster, the toddler falls and starts screaming, the baby gets woken up...etc. getting rid of clutter really really helps but I think those young moms need to hear that getting rid of stuff will not fix the toddler spilling the whole container of rice on the floor and running through it while you were peeing for 90 seconds!! 😂🤗 I feel like I "pay for" the time i spend cleaning with the messes my toddlers make while I'm trying to do dishes or clean a toilet. I need toddler help😆
I think the reason why she doesn't talk about that kind of stuff is because it's easy to forget what it's like in that season. I also have older children that quickly help and are very efficient. Without having older kids to help, you can completely feel like you're drowning when you have little kids that are super hands-on. I 100% agree, and encourage you to start being the older woman even if you're in the younger woman season. I had no other older women in my church that poured into my life when I was at the season you're at. The Holy Spirit revealed to me over and over that I was supposed to start acting like the older woman for women who are even younger than me with smaller children. I thought it very hard but I finally surrendered and chose to be the older woman figure while I was still the younger woman figure. God grooming through this hard times and brought me through. 🤎😭🤎
One of the things that helped me a lot was a really nice high chair. The one I had would lay back completely and had a five point harness. My son loved sitting there and playing while I was running around doing things. Always plan for worst case scenarios. I had locks on everything and he was always somewhere safe and secure. We had one of those giant octagons that he played in, like a play pin for the floor. He also loved his swing. We were asked one time if our kid had legs and could walk by another parent, right before theirs cracked his head on a table. He's fifteen now and walks fine, lol. I always also had him help in the clean ups of disasters he made and they stopped pretty quickly.
Your home is so lovely, and I very much enjoy your content!! You're so inspiring and soothing at the same time. Also---I LOVE ThredUp!! So happy they sponsored you.
Feels so nice to get things out of the house. I live with my Mom, 2 adult sisters, a kid, and a dog. It's a lot sometimes. Your videos help keep me going.
Thank you for this one. I had a little melt down today bc I couldn’t find my hair cutting bag to give everyone haircuts. It’s when you go on the hunt for something and see all the endless amounts of stuff that sends you into a spiral. Yes I’m a SAHM and hmschool, but how on earth can I possibly be manager of every single item in this home. It’s impossible. So this was just the pick me up I needed to go ahead and purge this house again and keep standing guard making sure it doesn’t get like this again. I swear Madame Blueberry lives here. 😂
Lisa, I just love your home! It’s so homey and cozy. Always looks so pretty! I’m trying to purge things in our home as well. Thank you for another great video.
One thing that has streamlined life and made a huge impact, worth every cent, is my Dyson cordless vacuum. It’s so effective and my kids love to use it. It makes vacuuming fun. With pets and kids we use it daily. I’ve had it over 5 years. I can’t recommend it enough.
Hi! Re: bathrooms- here’s the one thing that changed my life. I learned how to clean my bathroom in under five minutes, not counting the shower/tub because I don’t use the shower but twice a week and I live alone. So adjust the time for your needs. Always keep a little Dawn dishwashing liquid in the container that holds the toilet brush. Keep all your preferred cleaning supplies and rags right there in the bathroom. Either push knickknacks aside, or set them outside the bathroom before cleaning. Clean the toilet bowl first- with the toilet brush. Next the mirror, then the sink and counter tops then the outside of the toilet with the rags. With the same rag, clean the entire floor on your hands and knees. You won’t believe how quick it is. Empty the trash and return all the knickknacks. No need to bring that cleaning apparatus for the floor into the bathroom anymore! After I learned this, my whole house seems so much easier to keep clean because it simplified it so much.
My mom always cleaned floors on her hand and knees with a rag as she was cleaning everything else with rags in those rooms, too. It saved her so much time! And the floors get cleaner.
I'm new to your channel & I love your videos. You are very inspirational for me. I love the way you keep your home. It was helpful to hear you talk about how you have empty drawers & pieces of furniture. I've always struggled with the feeling I need to fill every drawer with something even though my home is kept very "minimal-ish". I'm going to try working on embarrassing the emptiness of spaces throughout my home.
Lisa, your home is spectacular. I love all your design choices. I can’t imagine how much work you and your husband have put into it but obviously lots of love. It’s got a wonderful atmosphere and every detail is warm and inviting. Bravo.
Thank you for this video, it pushed me to go deeper myself and I was able to gather 3 trash bags full to donate, among some other things to share with friends. I long for the simplicity. It just feels peaceful.
Linda, thank you, I really needed that video. I am at the same steps now, going deeper, while my kids will move out in two years, quite nearby. Changes everything 😊
Always love a "simplify" reminder. I was so hoping we'd see what was in the black bags you were purging! Lol. Always feel like knowing exactly what people are getting rid of and why is so helpful 🤷♀️
Let’s normalise being gracious with ourselves when we make a mistake or change our minds. Oh I bought something I planned to fix up but didn’t? Bummer but never mind, keep moving forward 🙂
I have been searching for a video like this for a long time. A lot of videos on decluttering are for beginners but I have been practicing minimalism for about 5 years and this sort of content allows me to focus on the life I want to have with my family! Thank you this has been very insightful ❤
I would be super interested in what kind of toys you keep for your kids. I'm a minimalist myself and always love to watch videos on the subject, especially with regard to kids inventory (toys and clothes) as I find this is the category where I could simplify our life even more :) Maybe you consider making a video about this, too 💛
If they are played with consistently we keep them...if they tire of them we move them on. Legos are a great example of something that constantly gets played with around here....
5:25 with all the feet of your family coming in and out of your kitchen, consider putting the stools up on the counter, seat side down, so any floor impurities that get on the stools' feet don't get on your counter where you often put food directly on the counter. 💕🌞🌵🤫
@nerddom-square yes! Restaurants too. You don't want muck from the floor up on the table tops. Especially where you're preparing food right on the counter.
Hi Lisa! I love this simplifying video! You are right! Just in time for the upcoming holidays, too! My husband and I just removed a closet to enlarge our bathroom so we could add our washer and dryer in there. So, I have been getting rid of a lot of unnecessary things (donating to Savers) it feels so good! I'm a recycler, so nothing goes in the trash. You inspired me months ago to simplify things. I love your videos and watching your adorable family!❤💜💛💙🩵❤💜💛💙🩵
There is so much stuff I CAN'T get rid of!! Stuff of my grandma, stuff the kids and brands have Gor me, stuff I may need someday,... But it's a wonderful idea!!❤❤🙏🙏xxoo
Well, you certainly spoke some truth here…every word is true…even down to how much more “thinking” is involved if you buy one thing you don’t really need…I struggle with this and need to do my own deep dive so desperately! This may be what I needed to view. Thank you!!
Whole heartedly agree. As a mom of six, the early years were overwhelming and I never had time to employ my skills and interests in the ways I wanted to be able to to benefit the family and satisfy my desire to be creative and productive. Tackling the amount of “stuff” we had, from clothing to linens to cleaning supplies to pantry items to cookware to Knick knacks …. Allllll of the things .. made all the difference. My home is never immaculate, but it doesn’t stress me out because I know it won’t take much energy or time to set it to rights. I can give over time to doing all the things - knitting, sewing, preserving, baking, etc., because the house is humming along like an only slightly squeaky machine 😜. I found the right balance between being relaxed about our home and keeping it 15-30 minutes from my version of “perfect” and it all came down to exactly this principle of managing the inventory of what is in it. It’s a user friendly home.
I just want to thank you for being so real and honest when it comes to cooking and cleaning and life with kids! I am a mom with 3 under 3 and am so happy I found your channel. I just got into healthy living and eating whole foods and not processed and have learned so much from you. I love how you are with your meals and sourdough, it's very go with the flow and fit it in where you can. Not everything has to be so precise and by the cookbook, so thank you for sharing your knowledge and realistic life with a big family. I would also love to see more about how you and your husband operate as a Christian couple and discipline your kids and just marriage topics in general.
Oh yeah, been there! I never even had junk drawers. But lurking behind little nooks and cabinet doors were overstock and the little extra “ what ifs”! That nagging feeling that I had ignored all too often. Kitchen drawers full of way too many gadgets, linen closet stuffed to the gills with blankets and quilts I just find it difficult to part with. It’s a never ending battle. Every once in a blue moon I go thru a purge mood and everybody stand back. Lisa, even as a retired grandma I find you are 100% correct! This fall I did this to my yard and flower gardens. Too much to keep up on and physically, too difficult these days! This winter I am going thru the kitchen and linen closet. My clothes closet as well. Thanks Lisa for the reminder!😉😊♥️
I am 68 & retired(sort of) and have much yet to purge & declutter. I refer to all of my retirement/someday projects as my now fantasy life and it's time to come back to reality & really get serious about getting rid of it all. My kids don't want it & I don't want them to have to deal with it when I'm gone. That gives me motivation to keep moving it out.
Ask for help. Even a 1/2 hour a day adds up over time. Be brutal about letting things go. You’re correct, your kids don’t want it and you don’t want to leave them with the burden of going through it all and questioning what to do with it all. You can do it!
I’m doing the same thing! The thought of my kids having to go through all of my “stuff” to decide what to do with it makes me sad! I had to do that with my parents stuff and it was just too hard!
Absolutely gorgeous home! I love your property! I’m looking forward to getting some things done tomorrow! I will have the day to myself! God bless your precious family! 😀❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
Great video! I would like to add that when your children are all grown you will most likey be taking care of your parents so downsize your inventory now. 💕
That idea of picturing how you’d spend a free day in order to determine if you’ll realistically “get to” a project is SO HELPFUL!! 😄
I know you say that your cooking videos are the most worthwhile ones that you do, I enjoy those very much, but if you find yourself decluttering little areas around the house, I would totally watch them! I know others do videos like that too, but I feel you are one of the most sensible and relatable ones to watch. ❤
Also, love this video!
For 10 people in a home, you place is very lovely...no sterile but cozy, simple but lovely!
Isnt it, though? So welcoming.
I'm in love with her decor and her furniture. Beautiful.
Decluttering isn't just about having a tidy home; it's about freeing up mental space and reducing daily overwhelm. Letting go of things that don't serve us can genuinely transform how we feel in our homes and open up time for what really matters!
I love the wide, zoomed out view of you working in your kitchen at the beginning!
I agree ,its like a painting coming to life. Lisa is the light and creates light in her home.❤❤
i just wanted to comment here because you're the first youtube I started watching when I had my first baby 4 years ago. I was looking for minimalism baby videos, and found your channel. Congratulations and thanks for watching!
Well…that was the most inspiring video I’ve seen on UA-cam today. Thanks Lisa! It was therapeutic watching you clean your house so quickly 🤣
Watching this at midnight probably wasn't the best idea lol. Now I want to go rummaging through all of my closets but everyone is sleeping 😂
I can see the difference in your home compared to previous videos and you've done such a tasteful job! I've also found that decluttering and limiting my inventory of items helps keep stress and overwhelm at bay.

Simplicity is elegance, I love space to breathe and room to move. It calms me ❤
You’re home is a lovely reflection of the quality you and your family are!
Two things I learned from Dawn The Minimal Mom are reevaluating my inventory and, the quarantine method, both that has helped me tremendously.
I love how you moved that red item twice, then stuffed it into your back pocket! Then you just kept going . . . love your energy and home. We recently moved and are renovating, so your videos have been so inspiring lately. Thank you for sharing your life.
Your home is simple yet so cozy and warm. I love your children’s bedrooms. You look like a very organized person.
Thank you! I try to keep things as simple as possible to make life a little easier.

Did you say “10 feet away from a horse?”
"If you're going to own something you have to have somewhere to put it." "Each thing needs a home." - things my grandma said
Wise grandma!
Our house caught fire in July, and man, that forced us to go through EVERYTHING and only keep the things that were necessary and / or meaningful. It really made us think about what we want to put back in the house when it has been repaired. ❤ keep things organized and not cluttered.

I love that blush/pink wall color! 😍😍😍
Thank you...the girls and I love it!
Your Thread Up outfits…those boots… too cute! I hope your hubby takes you out for a fun fall date!
That pink bedroom is dreamy!
thank you...we recently redecorated in there and me and the girls love it too!
I recently bought a house having lived in flats and house-shares for many years. I am completely overwhelmed by trying to keep everything organised despite there only being me and my partner living here! Seeing you manage a large house with 8 kids is inspirational. Thank you for the tips 🥰

Such perfect timing! I've started my fall decluttering and this was such a good video ❤
I love the simple beauty of your home❤️
Reminds me of the old fashioned home I grew up in and didn’t appreciate, lots of kids, only we had more clutter everywhere. 😮
If we are starting from an impossible starting point with our homes, everything else will fall behind. This sentence hit me hard. I am so hard on myself for failing at housekeeping, but I’m starting from an impossible starting point. The less you own the easier the task. I learned this the hard way and I only keep what truly works in my life. I'm so much happier and at peace.
You can do it!
Read into the word impossible and you will see “I’m possible”. You can do this, just remember to give yourself grace.
For me i have come around those “some day” projects eventually. If i have the space to have it organised, even if im not using in this point in my life, im happy with it. True words. Simplifying is the key. What really works for that stage of life-whatever that may be-is important.

You may find encouragement over on The Simple Farmhouse Life podcast and UA-cam channel where I share more on being a homemaker and mother
Your home is so lovely, and I very much enjoy your content!! You're so inspiring and soothing at the same time. Also---I LOVE ThredUp!! So happy they sponsored you.
First time watching. Love your home, feels like a balanced work of art… textures colors details nothing over done but thoughtful.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Feels so nice to get things out of the house. I live with my Mom, 2 adult sisters, a kid, and a dog. It's a lot sometimes. Your videos help keep me going.
Enjoy them while you still have them. ❤
I just LOVE the Lego in the pocket!! ❤😊
Real life.
Your home is beautiful and you are beautiful to share it with us.
I love practicing minimalism

Madame blueberry!!! My grandma has an overflowing home, we call it the stuff mart 😂
Thank you Lisa. You are so appreciated.
Lisa, I just love your home! It’s so homey and cozy. Always looks so pretty! I’m trying to purge things in our home as well. Thank you for another great video.

@ IKR? I thought hotel cleaning staff really suffered until I tried it myself. It really makes quick easy work, ironically.
Clean the floor with sane rag you use to clean toilet bowl with?
@ No. You use the toilet brush to clean the toilet; remember the Dawn dishwashing liquid in the toilet brush bowl?
@@DeannaShelton09 no. Obviously not.
What an absolutely gorgeous home! You can tell how much thought and love was put into each room and your antique furniture is just so dreamy. 😍
Bravo.
It's been a long journey but we are so happy with how it all came together!
So true! Another inspiring video. Thank you.
I am glad you enjoyed it!
Stopping this video half way through to do some cleaning! Thank you for the motivation! (I'll watch the rest, later - promise)
So beautiful Lisa! You've done a great job at keeping your home. Love it all❤
Thank you for this video, it pushed me to go deeper myself and I was able to gather 3 trash bags full to donate, among some other things to share with friends.
I love seeing your collection of thread up and that you model it too so we can see what it looks like. Love your sourdough cooking.!
Your home is just so beautiful! Wow!
Ty Lisa, I really needed this today. I'm really working on this issue.
I’m glad you found it helpful!
Let’s normalise being gracious with ourselves when we make a mistake or change our minds. Oh I bought something I planned to fix up but didn’t? Bummer but never mind, keep moving forward 🙂
Great advice ! Let it go- its feelings won’t be hurt.
@ ha ha ha 🙌🏼
An Inventory problem- that is so spot on!
I have been searching for a video like this for a long time. A lot of videos on decluttering are for beginners but I have been practicing minimalism for about 5 years and this sort of content allows me to focus on the life I want to have with my family! Thank you this has been very insightful ❤
I am glad this video has been helpful to you!
I mix between thredup and poshmark but i dont buy much for myself cuz im usually in pjs even doing chores lol
I love the way your home is decorated. So beautiful!
I'm super impressed that you can clean your whole home in an hour!
I have a good system and routine that makes it possible!
So pretty and peaceful. ♥️
I really enjoy hearing your tips! They’re always so helpful!
I haven't watched your videos in a while… But I love the way your house looks now congrats on decluttering it is so rewarding!
It really is!
5:25 with all the feet of your family coming in and out of your kitchen, consider putting the stools up on the counter, seat side down, so any floor impurities that get on the stools' feet don't get on your counter where you often put food directly on the counter. 💕🌞🌵🤫
Agree!
Yes! Like how bars do it.
@nerddom-square yes! Restaurants too. You don't want muck from the floor up on the table tops. Especially where you're preparing food right on the counter.
I was hoping she would disinfect the island 😧 I pay close attention to cross contamination objects !
@@rnupnorthbrrrsm6123 I don't think she did as she cleaned the counter and the put then stools up 😕
It’s a great feeling when you can declutter and make your home more functional! You will love having a laundry room in your bathroom.
This is my first time seeing your channel--your heritage home is lovely!
thank you so much!!
Thank you!!
I find your videos very calming. You have a beautiful home. After watching you, I'm always motivated to enjoy what I currently have in my home.
Such a beautiful job on your home with a family of 10
Thank you!
Gorgeous home and soothing video.
I share more in depth on those topics on The Simple Farmhouse Life podcast and UA-cam channel
@@FarmhouseonBoone Oh okay thank you I will definitely check that out!
It's great to hear that you're finding value in the content.
I always love your tips Lisa! 🤍 watching Dawn’s videos always make me declutter that day! 😂
It definitely takes time and effort to simplify but it is so worth it in the end!
After cleaning a lifetime of stuff for my mom , I really look at how I want to leave things for my kids and it really makes me rethink purchases.
I have been doing that for a year I’m 76 and it is so freeing to be the one that decides and have one last physical memory.. good luck hugs
Ask for help. Even a 1/2 hour a day adds up over time. Be brutal about letting things go. You’re correct, your kids don’t want it and you don’t want to leave them with the burden of going through it all and questioning what to do with it all. You can do it!
Good for you
I’m doing the same thing!
The way you have cultivated your home really beautiful.
It's a lovely space.
Your home is beautiful and looks almost luxurious. I can get behind this kind of minimalism 😄 Well done
You are so right. I understand exactly what you are saying.
Great video! I would like to add that when your children are all grown you will most likey be taking care of your parents so downsize your inventory now. 💕
Wonderful thoughts that you shared today. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and have started to go through things and simplify our home.
Love watching you are doing all types of chores around the house. This energizes me to do my chores :)
Glad you are getting motivated!
Your house is absolutely beautiful!
I love your home and how you care for it!
That pink room is so dreamy!
Thank you ❤
