I have the Kiawah, and I love it. It pairs well with other products in its collection. It's lighter, allowing you to layer the scents with the deodorants, soaps, and the Formula 5 oil that could be used as a pre-shave oil, scalp, or dry skin treatment. The notes in this scent spoke to me. I originally got it from my husband and became a fan and a lover for myself. I even got the oil, and it’s been fantastic. Now both my boys and my husband are on the products.
Cool... Thank you for the story. But my issue wasn't the smell... It was the length of time that it worked. What is your experience with that? Where are you putting it? How often are you reapplying?
I've ordered the sampler and decided on the Clearwater sent and I totally dig it. It last me usually all day as long as I'm not sweating. thanks for the review.
Literally had it in my cart and decided to look for reviews. You gave the most honest review. I have decided to pass on purchasing. Thanks for saving me money and time!
I had bought this a couple years ago in the same scent and loved it. I noticed that it was lasting about 4 to 6 hours but I am not a huge cologne person. It is my understanding that solid cologne is supposed to me more subdued than the spray variety in the first place. But like a lot of people have said in the comments that it reacts to your body chemistry. I may order the sample pack just to try the other scents though. I do love the case
I agree... My only point to that was the price point didn't match what the company was selling. If they said what you said in the adverts I would agree.
I just bought F&R solid cologne literally yesterday. I wish I watched this review first. Same issues here. Love the smell but it doesn’t last more than 20 min after application. My fiancé couldn’t smell any cologne on me 20 min after I applied Kiawah. Really disappointed and so badly wanted this product to work out for me. Funny thing is I tested out Duke Cannon solid cologne yesterday as well. My fiancé could still smell that on me over 12 hours later. Getting rid of the F&R and I’m going with Duke Cannon. Their scents were great also. Unfortunately nothing they offer smelled as good as F&R’s Kiawah though. What can you do.
it's not the cologne. it's you some oils work great with you some don't some last long some don't. what smells great and last long on me might be the opposite for you.
It comes down to your body chemistry. However, you should take look on Duke Cannon. The best one is the Bourbon. Half the price, double the size and last longer in my opinion.
As soon as I saw the tiny size and large price I was out. This is the second Solid Cologne video I’ve seen that said doesn’t last long nor project well. I like the idea too. Almost bought the ingredients to make my own since I already do Shaving Soaps and bath soaps but ordered one off Amazon called Havana by Oak City Beard Company to try first. Glad I did. Thanks for the review
So what is your review on solid cologne because your story is 100% identical to my own. I just got to this because I looked up solid cologne from amazons But I'm thinking of just making my own, its looks insanely simple
Thats a tough call. The smell is great but it just doesn't last. For that it isn't worth the money they charge. Its a good buy as long as you know it will not last as long as advertised.
Personnel experience here, as the guy here says their scents are AMAZING, like better than great, but I will disagree on how long they last for. I clocked my usually at about 5 hours, but here is my actual issue with their solid colognes. They have almost NO projection. When I first read them as being quite personal, I didn't think I would have to almost put my nose to where I applied it just to smell it.
Those solids like the spray on colognes all depend on your skin. It differs from each person. Longevity is something everyone wants, but it differs from person to person’s chemistry. Captiva was my first and Sterling was my 2nd from them.
5 sprays of cologne? That's like 4 too many.... I have several F&R scents and they're great, but more subtle than a lot of spray colognes, and that's kind of the point. Everyone wants to smell good, but no one wants to smell you coming from 100 yards away!
ONE SPRAY?!?!!?!?!? Are you kidding me? Who does one spray? Are you only putting your fulton on just one side of your neck? I dont think you understand cologne if you are doing one spray. EIther way it has nothing to do with this review.
@@JeramieLu Yup, one spray for spray cologne, a few swipes of the solid stuff on your neck. Unless we're talking about middle school me, which was 5+ sprays of Cool Water, thinking it would make all the 8th grade girls swoon (it didn't). Cologne should be a pleasant reminder that you're there, not a Mike Tyson smell punch to everyone in the room. Y'all have a good one.
Got to see the ingredients list, and they have petrolatum , mineral oil....from there I do not want them. Also those ingredients are really cheap, specially for the price of not even half and once. In my opinion they should go with coconut oil, shea butter. Also they put Cetyl Alcoho in the formula, this will dissipate the fragrance more faster
If you like nice smelling body washes, a brand called Duke Cannon had this body wash called Thick and my favorite is Old Glory, it's a tabacco, cedarwood and amber scent and I love it.
100% honest and spot on review! I bought the Perpetua scent, which smells great, but after about 45 mins. the scent is gone. Zip. Nada. Zilch. I wish they would sell normal spray colognes since they do have good fragrances. The wax is good in theory, but poorly executed, especially for the premium price they charge. Even the refills are $55 each and you have to buy a minimum of two, so $110 for a refill. No thanks. They have great marketing and the small brushed satin nickel container is a nice touch, but I will not be reordering. Too bad as I really like the scents.
Thanks for saving me money. I did purchase some sold samples from another company called Outlaw Soaps. I collect spray colognes and have never tried solids. We will see how good they are. Five sprays for a cologne is good for some and high for others. It all depends on how strong/weak it is. Also, some colognes don't smell strong to the wearer but people around can smell it very well. Question: What is your "go to" spray cologne that you mentioned at the end of the video? And did you ever try Duke Cannon or Cremo? I like both of their shampoos and body washes but have never tried the colognes. Thanks!
@@jessicawoodard108 I got solid colognes. I still prefer "liquids" by far. The outlaw scents were not for me either. I can see how some may like them, but I prefer different scents.
I got the sample pack a few weeks ago and honestly I'm a fan,not discounting your experience but I apply before work and still smell it when I get home,11 to 13 hours later. Its definitely not as strong at that point but its there. I don't know about the vanilla tobacco one because thats the only one that I couldn't stand. Put it on and 5 minutes later I washing it off lol. I do apply on the heavy side, the sample last me for 2 applications,so 2 days.
I had this exact same issue with Palmetto... and got an identical response from customer service. Made me think that I was doing something wrong. I would usually get a compliment from people when I hugged them if I wore cologne, though. I have never gotten a compliment that I smell nice using this cologne, even putting it on minutes beforehand. The only time I was told I smelled good was when I knew I wasn't going to buy it again so I dug out literal chunks and rubbed it on. It's just too weak, doesn't last long, and is too expensive. It also melted in my car the one time I brought it with me on the road. Even that disappeared after a few days haha.
Give Duke Cannon a try. I have only tried the cedarwood because that's what came in the box. But they're bigger and half the price of F&R and at least this scent lasts all day. I did have to learn that I needed to get more liberal with how much I use but I used it for two weeks straight every day and it doesn't look like I made a dent in how much is there. Only problem is they don't have a sampler but you can find them in stores to smell them.
I'm gonna second the Duke Cannon suggestion. I've only tried the Land (Redwood) and Vetiver/Oakmoss Special Issue scents. Land smells decent, but...maybe not like cologne? More like a Fall Scented Yankee Candle. Special issue...old man scent. BUT they project and they last! I've used Land a bit. After a few hours the scent "dries down" and really takes on a wax candle scent. BUT it gets the job done. I've tried about 3 different solids. Duke Cannon projects and lasts the best. I have an order from Alexandria coming soon. Aventus Clone. Let's see how well it does...
Thats weird. I bought the sampler pack and so far each one has lasted all day. "Hatteras" so far has lasted the longest (have only used 3 out of the whole same package so far). Great and honest review though.
I'm late to the party but might want to give a try to Lucky Cat Collective, They make a similar metal cased solid cologne in a few varieties. I haven't tried it personally because I'm on the fence (hence watching this vid on Fulton Roarke 😁) but it's only a $32 entry. Solid cologne seems like a nice option but as you said heat is probably a factor, living in CA ya might come back to a puddle of wax.
I personally really enjoy the Lush solid colognes. I use Breath of God (has almost a hint of campfire) and Dirty. Sometimes I will combine them. They are subtle, and only last a couple hours at a time, but they are about a quarter of the cost, better ingredients, and available to try in store! Check em out!
@@JeramieLu Link 1(Breath of God): www.lushusa.com/fragrances/perfume/breath-of-god/9999907314.html I no longer see the "Dirty" scent in the solid form.
Weird it doesn’t really work out for ya. I haven’t tried the F&R but I have been using other solid colognes for a while now and they’ve been working out fine. The scents, for me, last at least 4-6hrs. Wearing some right now that I put on about 5 hrs ago and it’s still hanging on. Check out some other brands though.... hopefully you’ll find something that works.

I have this also and I think it needs to be bigger and half the price I think it’s expensive for the amount you get I also got their soaps and like those and the cologne scents smell awesome very manly great product just needs some work
Love the review as most sound like ads. My experience aligns most closely to yours; however extend that to the oil and deodorant. The smell lasts maybe 30-45 minutes for me and doesn't seem to do what is pitched. I have other similar products that last longer. Wish that wasn't the case as I like the smells, but can't justify the price point.
I use Outlaws solid and it wears off fast. I love it though. I keep buying more. I just ordered some F&R so I imagine it'll be about the same. But more expensive.
Thanks for saving me $60.00! I was gonna buy one Friday, but what had me off and on, was the size of it. I'm thinking since it's that small I was betting it packs a lot of power with lasting all day. Glad you save me from the purchase. Thanks again!
Yeah, solid colognes in general dont really project well. If you want a way larger size with decent performance I'd go with duke cannon. Still I think I'll give FR a try., I just know not to have high expectations.
Great video! I've been wondering about these solid colognes so thanks for this info. 👍 I bought the sampler packs of cologne from the Dollar shave club and out of the six varieties there is one I could take a bath in: Blueprint 202. It is musk and cocoa, my first ever time wearing fragrance with a chocolate smell in it. These colognes are surprisingly high quality. Just in case you are curious.
Thanks, I have the same problem with this cologne. IT DOESN'T LAST. For $60, no way. Avon Mesmerize Black lasts a lot longer. I love the smell of Sterling, however I won't buy it again.
Great video I’m really into cologne and I keep seeing the ad for this stuff and it looked cool but everything I thought it was gonna be you said it was so I’m glad I didn’t waste my time
There is another cologne like this company. It's called Duke Cannon. If you decide to check them out I believe they are better priced and the scents last longer. I just ordered some from them. But I do t do reviews like yourself. I will be looking out for your review if you decide to check them out. I ordered their Big Ass Brick of Soap and their Bourbon wax cologne.
Duke cannon is a great company to support as some of their proceeds go to our veterans. Just got Bourbon and Sea and they smell pretty good. Classic shower gel type of smell. They are half the price of F&R, 8x more wax than F&R (1.5oz). I will say the scent sticks really close to the skin which is my only issue. I'd also recommend Alfred Lane, or Happyland Studios, those project a lot more and last a lot longer.
Good review. With sprays, I typically spray 1 or 2 shots into air and walk thru it. Just got the same F&R sample pack a week ago. Have only used Hatteras and Mahana and love both scents. I do back of ears smear to neck, inside wrists and crease where forearm and bicep meet. (OK small touch on mustache so I can smell at will 😆) Applying F&R once in am, with a reapply for evening hours. The cost is high for singles, if I really love one I will order it. But I came across another solid that I could buy 4 different kinds 1/5 oz for the price of one F&R. Decisions decisions.
What's the other brand ? I've been looking for a wax or even oil base cologne. I love my colognes, I own over 40 spray colognes right now. BUT.. I have to say, on my lunch break in downtown Providence RI, I was approached by a random guy who was selling these tiny (about the size of my pinky, I've got big hands though) vial with a roller on top when you take off the cap. Like I've already mentioned, I'm huge into colognes and have been since I was a kid. This "off brand/DIY" oil bought off of a random dude standing on the corner of a busy intersection was the best product I ever had in my life. From the smell, to how long the smell lasted (literally would wake up the following day and still smell it, but at the same time was not overwhelming when applied) to how long this tiny little vial lasted me. Product was so good I actually went back to Providence, 6 months later to try and find this guy to buy more. Been looking for a similar product every since. F&R seemed like it was going to be amazing, love the idea of the travel tin, LOVE the look of it. But for the price and what you get.. never again. For me F&R was one and done.. I cannot believe they price these tins at 60 dollars, to me its outrageous. Anyways that's the end of my rant but would love to know of any products like this, wax or oil. Thank you.
Everything is true here, great concept, great scents, don't last more than an hour. WAY over-priced for what you get. Customer service is exceptional but I've had other experiences with them where they're offering me free replacements or whatever. The Body Lotion is the worst product of them all though: $44 for a large bottle of lotion, supposedly Blue Ridge scent but actually it smells like any ol' $3 bottle of Jergens. I wrote them and they were super cool, said I must've gotten a "defective" bottle, so they sent me a second one for no charge. Imagine my surprise when I opened the second bottle and found the same thing: no discernable scent, most DEFINTELY not sandalwood or amber. So are they gas-lighting us? Is there something wrong with their nose? Just bizarro for a company to put out a body lotion for 44 fkg dollars!!! claiming it smells like amber & sandalwood when it smells NOTHING like ...well, it smells like nothing. Nice people, nice concept, but lost my business. Move on.
@@JeramieLu oh, it gets better. After they sent me a free second bottle - good customer service, yes - the second bottle also smelled like....nothing. They sent me an explanation. You see, the lotion they advertise as having "Blue Ridge" as it's scent doesn't actually SMELL like Blue Ridge unless - ready for this? Unless you're already wearing Blue Ridge cologne!!! Yes. for $44 you too can have a bottle of lotion that doesn't smell like Blue Ridge unless you're wearing their $50 cologne that wears off in 4 hours. And this folks, is how you fail at business no matter how good your customer service is. smh
It's our skin and oil. Some scents don't last long on your body. Usually alcohol spray doesn't last long. For me wax I'd say lasted almost all day. Usually smells don't last on me with my body heat and sweat people say it should enhance but it just dissapates.
Just saw F&R on Instagram and was curious what others thought of the product. You cleared it all for me. Excellent review. I’ll put my $16 towards lunch instead of the sampler. Soy Garlic chicken wings baby!!!
Agree Sterling is the absolute best. That water one is disgusting. Prices are steep as all get out. Calvin Klein Reveal lasts like two days on me it's ridiculous. Great scent, not like Sterling but it's bulletproof for a date night.
Apreciate this straightforward review. I have a solid cologne from alexandria. It is a skin scent on me and lasts about 4-5 hours. Because of the low projection, my wife likes me to wear it at night snuggled up in bed. This company seems expensive compared to others for a solid cologne.
The container is cool... however it reminds me to much of my wife's compact.... it will be a big put off for some. Just need a skull and a better sealing container...
Brian Sanchez hey bro. Are you talking to me or someone on this channel about me. In case it’s to me... I get it. Don’t sell a product stating it would last 5 hours and only last 20 minutes. How he’s is that to understand?

Love the review as most sound like ads. My experience aligns most closely to yours; however extend that to the oil and deodorant. The smell lasts maybe 30-45 minutes for me and doesn't seem to do what is pitched. I have other similar products that last longer. Wish that wasn't the case as I like the smells, but can't justify the price point.
I completely agree. I ordered the sample pack and I chose Hatteras. It smells great....until I get to work, then it’s gone. I’m out $50+ -.
Looks like a lot of us feel the same way.
Personally I find their fragrances to be great, lasts and lasts on my skin. But things work different for everybody!
Im happy it works for oyu.
Great review.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you bro. I was just about to order some. 60$ saved 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I use Outlaws solid and it wears off fast. I love it though. I keep buying more. I just ordered some F&R so I imagine it'll be about the same. But more expensive.
Thank you. Ill look them up.
Thanks for saving me $60.00! I was gonna buy one Friday, but what had me off and on, was the size of it. I'm thinking since it's that small I was betting it packs a lot of power with lasting all day. Glad you save me from the purchase. Thanks again!
I wish that was the case but its not. It lasted me a good 3-4 hours honestly and I was almost out 3 weeks later.
Yeah, solid colognes in general dont really project well. If you want a way larger size with decent performance I'd go with duke cannon. Still I think I'll give FR a try., I just know not to have high expectations.
Im going to try that. Thank you!
Hah I just recommended Duke Cannon. Which one do you like? I've only tried cedar. I do like it. It's just quite sweet.
You killed this review! Awesome job 👌
Thank you so much!
just ordered the sampler thing, i'll see whatsup in a few days
Keep me posted.
How was it bro?
Try duke cannon they have nice colognes
Thank you! I will!
Thank you for that. Ill order some to try!
Thanks, I have the same problem with this cologne. IT DOESN'T LAST. For $60, no way. Avon Mesmerize Black lasts a lot longer. I love the smell of Sterling, however I won't buy it again.
Same here!
I'm in the same boat as this review for sure! I love the blue ridge scent but the scent was gone after an hour or so.
Yeah... I really want to stick with them but its just not lasting long enough.
Completly agree I'm seeing the same thing with all my samples. It lasts at the max 2 hours. It's a rip off.
Glad I am not the only one.
Great video I’m really into cologne and I keep seeing the ad for this stuff and it looked cool but everything I thought it was gonna be you said it was so I’m glad I didn’t waste my time
Thanks for watching!
Going to check them out now!
That's very informative. Thanks for the heads-up!
Thank you so much for watching!!!
GOOD VIDEO. I was going to order this myself but, since I've seen your video I'm not going to order it at all.
Thank you so much!!
Whats the other brand?
Thank you.
You saved me money and time, thanks.
I am glad I could help!
Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching!
Great Review!!!!!
Thanks!
Move on.
You have all the feelings I have... LOL. Im sorry it didn't work for you either.
Hmmm... Then I must be the opposite. I dont sweat throughout the day but cologne stays on me for a while.
Thnx for saving me money, I just purchased oil one to try it.
You are so welcome!
Thank you for the information, I was thinking about trying it myself. If you like “manly” fragrances, a good one is Cremo’s Bourbon and Oak.
Im on it!
Yeah everyone carries a pocket knife. Doesn’t happen in Australia cause it’s illegal.
Good to know...
with these things I always think, or it is genius and why have they not done this before of there is a reason why everybody uses spay bottles.
I always think the same thing!
very true and honest
Thank you!
5 sprays of liquid cologne?!? No wonder you cannot smell the wax 3 hours later. Your sniffer has been burned out bruh! Thanks for the review though!
Bro... 5 Sprays is less than normal! Thanks for watching!
@@JeramieLu what is your go to spray cologne, out of curiosity?
Apply as needed? Ha. Weak. Armani lasts all day and I still smell it on the next day if on international flight 28h
Thank you!!
If it was $10 i would purchase
I agree.
That is some tall hair!
It’s called going nose blind. You have become desensitized to smells. Some people are more sensitive to smells than others.
Just saw F&R on Instagram and was curious what others thought of the product. You cleared it all for me. Excellent review. I’ll put my $16 towards lunch instead of the sampler. Soy Garlic chicken wings baby!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Agree Sterling is the absolute best. That water one is disgusting. Prices are steep as all get out. Calvin Klein Reveal lasts like two days on me it's ridiculous. Great scent, not like Sterling but it's bulletproof for a date night.
I do love that scent!!
Apreciate this straightforward review. I have a solid cologne from alexandria. It is a skin scent on me and lasts about 4-5 hours. Because of the low projection, my wife likes me to wear it at night snuggled up in bed. This company seems expensive compared to others for a solid cologne.
Thank you for watching. That seems pretty cool to wear it at night like that. I think I am more concerned with the price point for the lasting time.
Brah! Get a frag from Alexandria. Legit bangers and affordable.
Ill check into that for sure!!
The container is cool... however it reminds me to much of my wife's compact.... it will be a big put off for some. Just need a skull and a better sealing container...
That would be epic!!! LOL.
Everybody’s body chemistry is different what may last 12 hours on me may last three hours on you one size does not fit all.
Well... This just didn't last at all. I think that's a cop out since they do state an amount of time.
Jeramie Lu I get it, trust me it’s happened to me before.
THIS BRAND STAINS CLOTHES
That’s a first. No it doesn’t.
Never had this happen…
👍💛👍💛👍
Thank you!
This guy doesn't get it. The point is you take the little box thingy with you when you go out and you reapply it
Brian Sanchez hey bro. Are you talking to me or someone on this channel about me. In case it’s to me... I get it. Don’t sell a product stating it would last 5 hours and only last 20 minutes. How he’s is that to understand?
Brian Sanchez also... actually watch the video man.
What’s the other company with the spray that you liked ?
I really like the Johnny Depp series. Suave is what it is called I think.
