The Spirit of Jewish Resolve: The Conversation You Need to Have with Your Kids

We, as parents, are struggling to process the unspeakable evil perpetrated against our brothers and sisters in Israel. And, as mothers and fathers, we are tasked with the heavy responsibility of explaining this harrowing reality to our children.
What do we say? What don't we say? When community institutions we may be a part of make statements that are weak at best and offensive at worst, how do we respond-respectfully-yet, assertively? How do we protect our children online, shielding them from images and videos that Israeli officials have warned are "too much for the soul to bear?" And, in this very dark hour, how do we build in our homes a spirit of Jewish resolve?
To discuss all this and more, Tikvah Jewish Parents Forum Executive Director Caroline Bryk is joined by Dr. Rachel Fish, co-founder of Boundless, a think-action that partners with community leaders across North America to revitalize Israel education and take bold collective action to combat Jew-hatred. Dr. Fish teaches Israeli history and society at The George Washington University and has served on the faculty at Brandeis University and Harvard University. She has written articles for several publications in the mainstream press and academic journals and co-edited the book "Essential Israel: Essays for the 21st Century."
