Taiyuan Ancient County, commonly known as "Phoenix City", is also called Ming Taiyuan County because it was built in the Ming Dynasty. It is located on the ruins of Jinyang Ancient City in Jinyuan District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, China. It was first built in the eighth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1375). ), covering an area of about 0.8 square kilometers. There are 79 existing cultural relics buildings in the city, and 49 historical buildings are listed for protection by the Taiyuan Municipal Government. Among them, the Taiyuan County Confucian Temple is listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit. The city wall of Taiyuan Ancient County is divided into four sides: east, south, west and north, and is fully integrated with a total length of 3,700 meters and a total construction area of 77,000 square meters.
In 2012, the Taiyuan Ancient County Town restoration project was launched and will be officially opened on May 1, 2021 after eight years of repairs.
