My Dad was a radio ham and on the CB, I have never used them but I know how very useful they are. That was a great review Charlie especially when you kept dropping it and it it was bouncing around without breaking or getting damaged. I've known for a long time that you all used radios when you're out which is very sensible out in the woods and forests with big cats and other dangers, they keep you in touch with each other and are so necessary if there was an emergency. Good luck and happy hunting and hiking my friend God bless you all love and hugs to you and NinJen Mary-Ellen LFOD

I can't believe the clarity on the Retevis. Thank you for the heads up. Oh and the USB-C charging is a game changer, excellent.

Great review, MURS radios are great for hunting and hiking. Like to see further reviews at their transmitting limits, 1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles. Thanks again.

I bought these after watching this review! Great product! They are solid and clear! I just tested them in Los Angeles… my girlfriend lives about 2.5 miles away from me and they are very clear still even at this range with lot’s of wires and structures in the way. I did not expect them to work this well! Sometimes I have to move position a bit, but the good part is I can reach her now if the power goes out and cell service is down! Highly recommended! I will be buying a couple more now too! Thanks so much! Great product and great review!

I just picked up a set of these for handing off to unlicensed family, friends, and neighbors for various scenarios. The battery size was definitely a selling point (16.3Wh), as was the ability to detach the rubber duck antenna. I figure that, with mag-mount antennas, these would have a range of a few miles (depending on terrain, of course) when used mobile. The impact tests were an added bonus to a very helpful review. 73 de AB3ZI

With a base antenna , distances in excess of ten miles can be done.

That's cool that your a HAM, Charlie.
I've messed with transceivers for decades, and they are still fascinating.
The antenna type on these reminded me of the ol' PL-259.
    Look at Master Lou!
    Take care...

I'm fixin to buy the RT47V since they are waterproof - seems like they'd be better for hiking and fishing. They have the smaller 1100 mA battery, but not much else different as far as I can tell. Any insights?

Being rechargeable only, not alkaline/lithium store battery replacement makes this unit for normality.
Unless one carries a solar panels into the bush or crisis.
    Great price though... during normality.

The lack of beeping at the end of transmission is important.
Clarity is in bass vs treble I would say through YT and MacBook speakers.
One gender hears the other better.

Only truly sad part of the radio, is that it says made in China when you pulled the battery.
