@@c3sgarage That was the one thing that needed to be done to complete gauge restoration. I can close it all up now and move on to other things. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Great Video! I also have a 79 Vette and know all too well the issues we encounter with these cars. I've had it now for 15 years and there's always something.... LOL. I currently have an issue with the fuel gauge. I'll check the various points of failure to (hopefully) determine and fix the issue. Again, Great video!
Thanks for sharing this video. Didnt notice my gauge wasnt working until I ran out of gas pulling out of a parking space and it died on me. I'll check the ground first
@@c3sgarage cleaned the ground connection and didn’t notice much of a difference. My gauge behaves weirdly. It never goes below half. It will say full of you put gas in. Put in about 10 gallons and it said it was “full”
@@bains1491I ended up replacing the entire fuel sending unit with a part from eBay! The arm wasn’t sending the right voltage to the gauge. The new arm works well. Taking off the fuel lines from the sending unit was a pain in the ass though.
Nice. I have a ' 79 C3 too and my fuel gauge is acting weird. The pointer goes up and down as I'm driving. Up to half, down to zero, back up... etc. It's a bit scary to go for a drive when I don't know how much gas I have. I guess it's time to rip it all apart like you did.
Worst feeling ever hahah, I would start with the ground although if the needle is jerking, I would be inclined to thinking is the gas tank sending unit. Not hard to replace neither! Let me know if you figure it out!
Hey man, these are patriot short tube headers, i wouldn’t say it was hard but took some time to get the stock ones out. One thing that I do not like about these patriots is that there is no clearance to remove the spark plugs and I have ran into burnt wires once or twice. I guess it comes with the territory. Other than this, I love them
So glad I watched this video. Of course my fuel gauge and clock do not work like yours. I will try the ground wire like you did and see if I have any luck. Mine shows 1/2 tank when in fact it is empty. Ran out of gas, that's how I knew the guage was whacked. Will it work with no ground at all ?? like when you pulled your ground off and it worked ??
James, thanks for watching, yeah my first thought would he to try prying out the ground and testing ground connection, as you can tell mines was rusted hence why it was not working. If its showing half a tank, then my next step would be to try and check the float as it may be stuck, these are old cars and things get rusty, gunky and fragile, and lastly I would recommend checking your sending unit as these fail and may need full replacement. Best of lucks
I ordered a steering column from eBay $375 and the it came with no steering wheel and the turn signal was snapped off. All the accessories were snapped off. I had to tear it down and rebuild it.
Sorry to hear that but hoping you were able to install and get it running Sometimes I wonder how ppl sell on ebay… no steering wheel ? I wonder what the thought behind it was when they sold you a steering column with no way to drive it 🤦🏻♂️
OHHH! Super easy! But it is holding by a teeth under so I would either use a small plier to get it off gently. You can always use force without pulling the cable but the plastic terminal and if it breaks, just replace it with a new one.
My fuel gauge wasn't working as well. I check the ground and that was the problem. It works now, thanks.
Amazing news! Glad I could help🥳

Haha there is always something with these cars but I wouldn’t want to have it any other way lol.
Were you able to locate the issue and fix ?

That will usually be the problem!
Let me know how it goes

Hi, did you make a "Video 2" can't find it...
Hello!
What are you referring to? And how can I help ? 😃
Can you tell me where I can get that fuse puller that you show? Thank u
Hi, you can get the tool here: Bussmann FT-3 Automotive Blade and Glass Tube Fuse Tester and Puller, 1 Pack. thank you!
@@c3sgarage thank you
My connector is in a weird spot I have a 77 I believe I have to drop the tank
What kind of headers are those? Any problems with the studs when removing the stock manifolds?

This video has no sound?
Just checked it does!
I can’t the ground clip off. You cut away and when you come back you have the clip off. You don’t show how you got it off!!
Are you referring to the 3 clips going into the radio?
No, the actual ground wire. After you take off the rubber boot, then you said you managed to take off the ground, but how did you do that.

Buy a new fuel spout insert.
