    Great video m8. Real novice question, when tipping the rubbish out the back, push bin back 3ft or so with locks off? Then reapply locks (I didn't get this bit) won't the locks stop u lifting the bin up 45 degrees or do the locks kinda rise up with the rails etc

    • @dsjmoto724
      @dsjmoto724  2 роки тому +3

      No it's fine question mate locks stop the bin derailing when you tip it's all one unit thqt moves 👌

      @@dsjmoto724 Ah gotcha, so the rails raise up with the container if locked to the container, and when unlocked lifting on or sliding off rails stay in horizontal place. Thanks m8, only just come across ur channel, really like ur videos, I'm a recent class 2 pass and just been offered a job with council, now I'm bricking it and self doubt creeping in, but ur videos help give confidence 👍👍

    • @dsjmoto724
      @dsjmoto724  2 роки тому +2

      Hi mate your welcome glad it helped and yeah deffo put the locks on when your tipping, but remember to take them off when dropping the bin otherwise you'll put the bin down and rip the locks off. And if it's your first time driving one take it easy around corners and on roundabouts they like to sway and lean as they're really top heavy but if you've got 10 years under your belt you'll be sweet pal 👌

      Nothing wrong with asking questions mate, you don't find anything out unless you ask questions and they'd rather you did and be more clued up than being a have a go Harry 😂 but yeah with most Roro systems the order is like this
      TIPPING
      1.back wagon up to pile not too close and apply handbrake
      2.engage P. T. O
      3.open sheeting system (if required)
      4.open locks
      5. Push bin back a good few foot and re-apply locks
      6.open door (stand back when door opens) and then walk back around wagon too offside and secure the door
      7.back in cab and up up and away 😂
      8.when the loads started to slide out release handbrake and shunt forward
      9.if no banks an present walk down nearside of wagon and check loads completely out then jump back in and lower the bin back down.
      10.close back door (check top of the door for scrap/debris before you release and close it) then back in the cab locks off draw the bin forward locks back on P. T. O off and job done 👌
      DROPPING THE BIN
      1.Engage P. T. O
      2.Open sheet system if required
      3.locks off
      4.slide bin all the way back
      5.send bin up
      6.when you feel the bin touch the floor the truck will nudge forward a touch release the handbrake and let the hook push the wagon away from the bin
      7.once the bin has fully sat down make sure your hook is detached (pull away slowly) and jobs a good en 👌
      If you haven't already been shown there should be a leaver for stabiliser Jack's that press down on your leaf springs for extra support when lifting a heavier bin and also to provide abit more stability on softer uneven ground, just don't forget to take them off before you drive away or you'll smash the seals out of them ask me how I know 😂😂😂 hope this helps mate

    I’m having training tomorrow doing this job with my local council. Usually I drive a Dennis auto bin truck. The truck I’ll be using tomorrow will be an 8 speed split box. My question is I’ll be picking bins up from my local council recycling tip. How far back do you reverse so the bin doesn’t catch the wall you’ve reversed up to

    • @dsjmoto724
      @dsjmoto724  Рік тому

      Hi bud, always give yourself space, so shunt away from the wall then eject the bin then when the front of the bin is about a foot off the floor you can reverse back pushing the bin with your hook and use your mirrors to guide you, if your still not sure just get out walk to the back and have a check always worth a check if your not 100%. If your talking about lifting a full bin up then back up to the bin, lift a foot or two off the floor then shunt forward and drag the bin until your sure you will avoid contact with the wall. Always make sure you have a walk around after you've pulled bin out and check for any shite stuck in the back door or hanging over the sides it's always better to check it on the floor still rather than up on the wagon 👍 when you've first hooked up make sure the hook is properly under the lifting bar of the bin and take it easy on the corners in roll n offs mate they're very top heavy won't be like the bin wagon hope this helps bud all the best for tomorrow 💯👍
