In some way, it's even harder. I have actually seen a free skater guy doing an axel on a freaking hockey (!) skate - ofc WITHOUT toe pick.
And he managed to land that jump perfectly. You basically take the difficulty to the next level.

doing an axel on hockey skates isn't hard , i can do them with my hard gaurds on ,its all about how comfortable you are on your blades..@@StayReal02

@@StayReal02 I haven't tried to land a triple axle yet, to be honest i have no desire to . Figure skating is rather boring and repetitive ; statistically speaking it is not worth the time to learn how to do a triple axle , as it is estimated to take 5,000hrs to learn that particular jump. But for a single axle it can take up to 800hrs to learn,which is doable. it should be noted that a axle is an edge jump. which is why you can do them on hockey skates . It should also be noted that Salchow & loops can also be done on hockey skates as they are also edge jumps. ~+~
