St Cecilia is the patron saint of music. Paul Simon wrote this after suffering a period of writer's block as a celebration that he could make music again. The Cecilia in this song is not an actual girl, but music itself, so no simping is actually going on.
This is a fun song, not to be taken seriously or rather not to be analyzed lyrically. The beat is...different, the instruments being played are hard to identify, but let me tell you that at the time, this was a big hit, together with "El Condor Pasa".
FYI, Paul was married to Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher, in the '80s. He is now married to Edie Brickell, who had a few hits of her own in the '80s. He is 25 years her senior, for what that's worth.
When I hear Simon and Garfunkel I’m reminded of a get together I was at once. One of the guys make a snarky comment and I said that opinion was like saying you don’t like Paul Simon. He looked at me and said “I don’t “. I told him that just like I tell my kids you shouldn’t say things like that about people you don’t know. He looked straight at me and said “I know him, he’s married to my sister “. Trying to recover I said he’s married to your sister doesn’t that count for something? He snapped back with I don’t really like her either. So I can say I have met one of the few people in america who don’t like Paul Simon.
It seems unrealistic, you're right, bro. I think the meaning aims to minimize his troubles, and not have a closer vision of the facts. You're great, my friend 👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Hi Michael, I know you like music from various genres. What's about an old Broadway Musical from 1964 "Fiddler on the roof" the song "If I were a rich man" . I love the version by Bryn Terfel, you*ll find on UA-cam
hi michael, hope you're good. not one of my favourite s&g songs, but the music's good. what about nights in white satin by the moody blues or bones by imagine dragons live or life's what you make it by talk talk. i will get you to listen to them eventually you know......lol.
I’m surprised that Google said this was first done in 1995…the words are so much like those from the 50s and 60s…nonsense lyrics that we didn’t really pay attention to the hidden meaning…
This isn't really one of my favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs. My favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs are "The Boxer" (which you have already reacted to), "The Sound of Silence" and "I Am a Rock". BTW have you reacted to any songs by Bryan Adams? He's one of my favorite artists.

Very well explained
Very interesting!!
40 years, I’ve been listening to this song, and you’ve just added a whole new dimension to it. Thank you.

Check out Paul Simon’s “ Mother and Child Reunion “ . Paul wrote this tune after seeing a Chicken/Egg meal on the menu in a Chinese Restaurant.

Another suggestion: Paul Simon's "Me & Julio Down By The School Yard" - a fun video too.
Love this song❤
Probably the first reggae song most Americans, or at least white Americans, ever heard.

Torvill and Dean (ice dancers) dance to this song and it is great.
I remember this song being banned on our local radio station.
Just a FUN song! Not to be taken seriously.
