Have had mine exactly for a month. Have put 2200 miles on it (3 road trips). Total electricity cost $224. Same miles if put on my 2023 F-250 diesel is easily $600+ 👍
Got my MY AWD 10 days ago and absolutely love it. Your videos are the best and are very valuable to first time owners. Keep rockin J!
My panel was 75 feet from where I wanted to install the charger. So that was a lot of wire. 😢. But it's installed. Now just waiting on my car.
Mine was 50ft away
@@rfischer1984 how much did it cost to go 75 feet?
I have 2018 Tesla Model 3 long range. Almost for a year now and charging it is absolutely easy. And my range anxiety 😰is going down!
I have a 2024 RWD Model Y and only charge at Supercharger. Do I only charge to 80 when I charge? Do I charge once a week to 100?
Hello Will, I love your content and everything you do. I bought my 2024 Model Y Long Range three weeks ago, but I've noticed an issue with the battery. When I first bought the car, it showed 240 miles for 80% battery, but today, after charging it, it only showed 235 miles for 80% battery. Should I be worried about this decrease in range over just three weeks?
I really appreciate your comments.
Love your content! I've been watching and following as I ordered my LR AWD Model Y, and you've been immensely helpful. Thanks and keep it up!
I used my referral credits to get the Tesla wall charger
Hot weather I only charge to 50% and have it resting at 30% by the time it hits over 90 degrees outside
Winter doesn’t really matter, generally just charge to 70% when it’s not hot
Do you really have to charge to 80%? I’m hearing other known UA-camrs saying just charge what you need everyday for better battery performance down the line. I’ve been charging to 50% everyday just to the train station and back. More than enough range. Tesla should opine on that
@@cheesun124 at 30% when it’s hot the battery experiences zero degradation. Winter it really doesn’t matter, but I cap it at 70% in winter.
Long trips I’ll go to 95%, sometimes to 100%.
So I charge at night, my wife drives to work, gets back at around 35% usually by around 1 pm. Sometimes 30% which is the target. I leave it there and charge at night when it’s cold back up to 55%.
That way when it gets to over 100 degrees during the day, the battery is at that sweet spot of 30%.
I also read PhD papers on it that below 20% damages the battery if left that way for a long time. However, winter weather it really doesn’t matter. Thus, summer is the only time I really think of charge in the afternoon.
@@davidc9710 thanks, that’s helpful to know
Tesla software update goes by vin number. We probably won’t see a update for the next few weeks 😢
Nice looking car. I choose not to buy a tesla band vehicle but use a tesla universal wall changer at 48amp and keep the car plugged in when not in use. My OEM recommends to do so as well. I found that this practice works nicely on days that I have unplanned additional errands to run on busy days. Watch for the OEM's specials at the time of purchase - when I took delivery in January they offered $1500 toward EVSE install at home and made all the arrangements for the install using a local licensed electrician and he pulled all the permits.. You cannot overstate that charging at home maximizes the EV ownership cost savings over ICE. I have the same battery chemistry as your MY AWD and generally cap at 70% for long term battery care. At 70% the range is 250 miles and that covers everything but road tripping. I found my daily use rarely drops below 45% and I have a very nice buffer when I need to go the extra distance. Also, one petal driving keeps the range drain in check, I set my car to maximum regen. Dual motor EV's are a blast to drive. Enjoy your ride!
Another solid video J thank you for the information. Honestly I was thinking when I get my EV I don't drive a lot during the week so I was thinking I wouldn't have to charge my car everyday I was kind of thinking that I would probably charge my car probably once or twice every couple of weeks. But that was my main concern just how quickly it would charge if I use a home charger because I heard that supercharging the car a lot it can lead to really fast battery degradation as opposed to charging the car at home not only that but charging the car at home is a lot more inexpensive than charging the car at the supercharger if you don't have supercharger credits and you want to save your car's battery health another thing that I was doing research on is the battery degradation after long periods of ownership because I've seen that a lot of people tend to lose a lot of battery health over there first year so I'm really excited to see some of your long extended coverage on the car especially covering your battery degradation or battery health over the ownership of the car and I also have to say I like the red color I'm more part and partial to blue or black but I do like the red color anyway have a good one keep up the great work and I'll catch you on the next one.
Great video! I just ordered a MYP and am waiting on delivery. I rent a town house and won’t be here long term so I wasn’t planning on installing the L2 charger but seeing this video if I can get it for as cheap as you got it I’ll definitely install it!
I have both…Get the Y!
@@RayNLA Nice! Yeah I like the Y better so I went with that. Excited to pick it up!
Only the 3 SR(Base) is a LFP (2021 and newer) All other Teslas are 80% recommended "daily" charging.
Easiest way to know if you have a LFP or not, is within the charging screen If there is a Daily limit from 60-80 then you dont have LFP.
really enjoy watching your videos. and love the red
Anyone know Tesla’s phone number or email? I applied for 0.99 in the end of May and being ghosted since then. No response. It’s just pending. I managed to press start again button in the app and now it doesn’t even show I’ve applied. 🤷🏻♂️
I thought extension cords were not recommended for home
Charging? I am waiting for one piece of equipment to finish my level 2 charger so I just been using the level 1 for now.just wondering if I have to continue backing my car in the garage or is there an extension cord people use with mobile connector
You can for sure use one, but it needs to be one like the one I’m using. For EV A charging. Link in the description
I installed my charger myself
Thinking about doing the charger install myself too!
@@charlesdaniels202 if it’s a short run its easy.
Also note, you are an electrician by trade...sooooo. I hear and see people doing it, I just don't trust myself LOL
Good point. Elon could say something dumb on earnings and tank the stock. Ask me how i know..
I put it next to the box for $35 bucks. I put my other one that's 30 ft away for less than $200
that window sticker come laminated? Ours was just paper, that red looks good in the garage
Super informative vid. I just purchased my first Tesla and am trying to get a home charger installed. My electrician said my panel can do a 30 amp 240V which would only do 22 miles per hour. He offered some extra equipment and work to get to a 60 amp which would charge about 44 miles per hour. This is $700 more. Do you think it’s worth it to go up to 60 amps?
Hmm. I’d say if you are good with the 30amp and need the extra $700, do that. I charge on 12amps sometimes a home, so 30 is still fast. Just plug up every night, you’ll be good. I’m always gonna say to save money.
I'm get one j..test drove it and the new model 3..but don't know which one to get
I love your content on your Tesla man! Do you plan to do a top 10 accessories you added to your car so far? Receiving my Model Y soon and I bet it would be super helpful
Yes
Birds hate all cars! 😂 solid video!
Charging at 12a is not efficient. You are losing power compared to charging at 32a or better
If this were true, we would not have 12A charging. Charging faster hurts the battery of time, this is just simple.
Ive charged at 16a 220v for over 10years on different EV's its perfectly fine.
Cold climates, car outside, yea agree 12a at 110v is NOT ideal.
Just touch it with your hand
i wonder how much battery degradation do you observe for your new Tesla? I got a new tesla model Y 7 seater, one week later than you, I observed 243miles at 80% versus 248 miles in theory. It’s about 2% drop, is it too much?
By the way, it was at 90% charged level when I took delivery. I have been about 50% supercharge between 20% to 85% for the trip, and regularly 30% to 80% with L2 charger (30A, 240V). Anyone can share more data on your battery performance?
😅It seems you also have 243 miles shown on the screen. So is it what it should be? 243 miles at 80% is equivalent to 303.7 miles at 100%.
Yes
Awesome video
Thanks!
