    The idea of 5pz was a lot of light armor to deal with halftracks, panther G with the APCR to deal with the jumbo, decent 2k. A bit of a meme, I get bored with the game sometimes and try weird things.
    Tali is one of the best map for long game income because it is hard to get a 15-9.
    I lost in the opener. VfV collapses if you don't do well in A. I thought I had deployed enough tools to deal with the halftracks at the beginning but no. And after destroying those halftracks, I should have been more agressive. Those 2 mistakes cost me the game.
    Looking back at my division choice, 12SS would have been much better at doing the same thing.

      Good match! I definitely understand the thought process, but I would agree there are other divs that could do the same better

      I don’t think 12SS would have been far better. A bit more but not impressive at all.
      Panzer Lehr, Herman Goering, 26Pz (surely banned), 116Pz or 20Pz (maybe banned too) and 5SS were far better to take.

      @@colonelkoenig42birhakeim42 I wanted the panther G and that is not a common unit. 12SS has fanatical on everything which would have helped a lot against halftracks + better armored cars + better transports + better AP (taking supply with arty instead of separetly because of AP is always painful).

      5th is not a bad division by any means, but V for V with a slow div...

    There are still at least 2 people(driver+maschinegunner) in the halftrack and they have pistols and SMGs, but i think that they should not have influence on the frontline, like recon or bazookas.

    The armour value for the jumbo are hard to calculate, but the jumbo would easaly bounce most long 88 (pak 43, King Tiger) rounds from 750 meters.

    • @wantsomenoob
      @wantsomenoob 5 місяців тому +3

      I dont know if you talk about historical facts, but in SD2 a pak43 or a king tiger has > 80% to penetrate the Jumbo at 750m

    • @Recon_in_Force
      @Recon_in_Force 5 місяців тому +1

      @@wantsomenoob I was talking about a field report, the Jumbo bounced 3 shots from a Pak 43, at 750m, before being taken out by a shot through the drivers telescope.
      I think 190mm of armour should be historically accurate but i dont know how exactly the Game calculates armour and how it accounts for weakspots.

    • @atkpwrgaming
      @atkpwrgaming  5 місяців тому

      Interesting, haven’t heard that before. Then it should be more expensive in game

      @@Recon_in_Force from a perfect dead straight angle the Jumbo the armor equivalent should be about 140mm but this game also increases the value of armor on a lot of tanks for the sake of balance reasons but also the turret armor on the jumbo was thicker at around 180mm raw thickness from the front mantlet but with the space between the frontal part of the mantlet and the turret armor behind it the effective thickness of the turret should be around 190-200mm.
      I think that Eugen just decided to look at the maximum effective armor thickness and use that as the the armor value to make up for how the penetration in this game works on a percentage chance system so even though you have a penetration value 10mm under whatever you are shooting at there is still a chance to go through or at least trigger a critical.
      the king tigers armor is also mostly following the turret armor value because if they chose to go from the hull armors rating you would be looking at around 240mm of frontal armor which would make the tank effectively invincible but as we all know the King tiger was unreliable and the armor quality degraded significantly when it entered production so the steel was brittle and welds liked to crack when under fire.

    I think balanced income would be better for 5. panzer. Jumbos are like fortress, best to cluster them. I allways rooting against Jumbos.

    7:39 - 5 points for armour and 5 points for ra-ta-ta-ta, agreed.

  • @dominuslogik484
    @dominuslogik484 5 місяців тому

    okay so for the rather exhaustive arguments going on regarding the Jumbo Sherman and its armor, yes the frontal hull armor was roughly about 140mm effective thickness due to its angle and the thickness of the plate being increased but the turret mantlet with the turret front thickness comes out to around 177-207mm thickness depending on the spot you hit. *edit* also the penetration chance for the Panthers normal AP was actually pretty bad against angled armor and the regular 88mm from the Tiger 1 was a worse gun for penetration than the Panthers High Velocity 75mm.
    now obviously some balancing will be done in the game because for example APCR was awful at getting through heavily sloped armor but also the variability in production quality for AP projectiles and ammunition meant that the reliability of penetration was extremely poor during WW2 with the different nations having different definitions during testing for what a "penetration" was. (for example the germans would consider partial penetrations where the entire projectile didn't make it through but some of it did) and the US required "perforation" which required that the entirety of the projectile got through the armor.
    also for the obviously balancing reasons this is why they chose the turret armor value on the king tiger over the hull effective armor as the hull armor would be about 240mm rated if you disregarded the poor quality of german armor late in the war due to running out of Manganese for their steel alloys. obviously with 240mm armor the King Tiger would be completely impossible to kill with anything other than another King tiger from extreme close range.

    • @dominuslogik484
      @dominuslogik484 5 місяців тому

      also I am pretty sure 78th sturm is a good counter to US 3rd armored.

    • @atkpwrgaming
      @atkpwrgaming  5 місяців тому

      A good break down! I just think for in game purposes being nearly unkillable is much more useful than being able to kill anything. The jumbo takes a significant resource investment or a specific set of weapons to kill it, disproportionate to its price

    • @dominuslogik484
      @dominuslogik484 5 місяців тому

      @@atkpwrgaming you could say the same thing for the King Tiger or IS-2 1944 with both being rather capable of shutting down huge areas of the map with their mere presence alone and rather few divisions having good tools to deal with them. and unlike the jumbo they both have guns capable of killing the Jumbo.

    @Atkpwer Gaming I dont think you want historical accuracy in this game. yes, jumbos are not historically accurate. The problem is a game is it has to be balanced and if you went for historical accuracy then most of the german army should be horse drawn have no air force (while p-47's should be raining down hell in mass) way delayed call ins for german artillery (while allied artillery should be way faster to time on target) german tanks should barley move while shermans can go for hundreds of miles more than german tanks. I get saying its imbalanced gameplay wisebut the argument is historically inaccurate does not hold up.

    • @tedarcher9120
      @tedarcher9120 5 місяців тому +2

      Well that's stupid. Most german divisions in the game are tank or motorised which have motorised infantry by definition. Jumbos are not only historically inaccurate but also stupid and imbalaned. It doesn't make sense for a tank in sd2 having average armor more than it's thickest part

    • @dominuslogik484
      @dominuslogik484 5 місяців тому +1

      @@tedarcher9120 the thickest part of the Jumbo was 207mm at the turret front? the frontal hull from a perfectly dead frontal angle is 140mm so with these two very different numbers it makes a bit of sense to lean towards the higher value just like how they wouldn't give the King Tiger 230mm of frontal armor because then the thing would be impossible to kill no matter who was fighting it so they lean more towards the turret armor which was thinner than the hull and also there is the issue of German armor steel dropping in quality significantly late in the war since they ran out of manganese and started using high carbon steel on the armor instead which was brittle and cracked easily.
      also most German motorized divisions during WW2 lacked trucks and halftracks as the german production was insufficient for both throughout the whole war and during 1944 it was particularly stretched thin so yes most of them would have been using horses to move things around even the panzer divisions.

    • @atkpwrgaming
      @atkpwrgaming  5 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, that of course gets into the whole realism vs playability. I just think jumbos should cost more with their mighty nearly impenetrable armor :)

    • @dominuslogik484
      @dominuslogik484 5 місяців тому +1

      @@atkpwrgaming the armor is a seriously valuable thing but the low power of that gun can't be ignored in the pricing, the IS-1 is a cheaper tank but has a substantially better gun and though its armor is not as good its the closest comparable vehicle I can come up with.
      The Jumbo is a wholly unique vehicle due to its extremely out of proportion stats as an assault tank which definitely makes it difficult to price but I don't think its cost should even come close to things like a King Tiger or IS-2 which if it went up any higher in points it would be really close to in price range while being wildly inferior.
