    I was about to text a Dominican Priest here in India on how to control anger. I was surprised to see the topic in notification. It’s not a coincidence, but divine providence. (Also learned from Fr. Pine).

    Meekness is definitely the most underrated virtue. It's SO HARD to be meek and takes so much self control.

    I get angry from my childrens outright disobedience mostly when cleaning, and their lack of respect to praying and Mass and their Grandparents. And I am in the process of learning how to temper them in a holy way.

      @Scott- you are not the only one
      I have to also work at this. Your anger stems from fear because you love your kids. I’m terrified of my kids abandoning the faith and also afraid of them clinging to the wickedness of the world instead of clinging to God.
      I am always asking Mary and God to protect my kids and not have them make the same stupid mistakes I made as far as leaving the faith, immersed in pop culture, etc.,
      You’ve got this!! God bless

    I was disturbed by someone who had gone out of his way to support spitting on someone who bought an extravagant purchase at the store. He grew up poor and has a hard time letting others get a leg up on his accomplishments. If only I could tell him how well he’s done and not to be disturbed by those who do more, my prayers are with him.

    Thank you Fr Pine! Would also greatly appreciate if you could speak to situations when I have expressed my anger and hurt calmly but the opposite party deflects and accuses me of having a twisted mind to have felt upset by the situation at all?

      Sounds to me that you are worrying too much about what the other person is thinking of you, especially if they turn everything around on you. Just give them a good example and shrug off their limitations. Do you need to be around this person. If you do, sounds like a long term issue. But you can decide today that you can't afford to worry so much, and then leave it in God's hands, if he's got hands. This is from someone who has no qualifications, only a bit of common sense.

    I like the idea of not burying anger but reasoning things out, and probably making more allowances for the fact that we are all in a learning process at different levels. Trying to block out thoughts can make them even more of an issue, so perhaps play things down by simply caring that people suffer for their own shortcomings, and we know our own. I get angry interruptions in myself, then I think 'where's the gain in this.' I hope that over time angry thoughts won't be automatic, but fazed out for the want of peace in myeself, and as an example for others.

    I struggle with anxiety/ fear for which I take 2 medications to manage it. But the devil sees me weakness and tempts me with anger because of my anxiety. I have to keep a deep interior prayer life along with asking God to grant me patience and humility (several times throughout the day).
    Therefore, I can become angry sometimes. I have been reading a lot about overcoming anger as well as watching videos about this topic. They are definitely helping me with this vice.

    Anger is a natural instinct and emotion that's embedded with each human , reflected at the time of a course of settlement , disagreement , offence, injustice and it's common for all beings to express their anger in some or other way yet before being angry we must ask our selves is it useful , gonna help us in the long run or is their a next best action that might suit us , indeed every action has an equal or opposite reaction , if we can fix the issue at our end then we must or the course of settlement must be left to lord , if we are right then we don't have to worry .

    Fr. Pine and Matt, something I wanted to ask you.
    I’m a true follower of Pints with Aquinas, which means I’m a Catholic. Hope everyone knows the Catholic Priest Fr. Georges Lemaître who founded the Big Bang theory. Aquinas 101 explains it all clearly. As I have strong reasons for God’s existence based on my personal experiences and of Summa Theologiae, I think instead of looking for the evidence of light (Hubble and JWST look for visible/infrared light), we must look for the existence of the sound waves that existed billions of years ago during/before the Big Bang. Because, the word of God states, in the beginning, was the “word.”
    Word is the sound waves by definition.
    Any thoughts?

  • @joejackson6205
    @joejackson6205 2 роки тому

    One must also remember that as Christians are required by Jesus to forgive ALL who have sinned or trespassed against us. When I find myself in a spiral of anger, I just go to a prayer of forgiving them, ask that Our Father would grant them the wisdom to not do such a thing again. Givin my anger and need for retribution over to God. As vengence is a personal possession of The Lord and not mine.

    I am so curious. You never mention the Word of God. It's the absolute best source for any problem. I've noticed that Roman Catholics almost never cite God's Word. Why not? He (the Lord God Almighty) is omniscient after all. I'm not angry by the way, just curious.

    • @Miolnir3
      @Miolnir3 2 роки тому +11

      He mentioned words by St. Thomas Aquinas, who in turn mentioned the Word of God in every aspect of his thinking, always in alignment to scripture, without getting derailed from it. You can see how these explanations are based on someone who is very profoundly based in scripture. When you want to get treated, you ask a doctor for help, yet it is not your first thought to go into the university's library to read by yourself the medicine books or primary sources of knowledge. Of course, you could do that and read them first hand, but most probably you won't understand every single meaning of what you are reading if you are not a sage in the matter. That's why Catholics tend more to reference exegetes, and be more careful with scripture in order to avoid the chance of citing scripture in a way that doesn't apply to the subject at hand. They do cite the Word of God, just not in every single opportunity.
