Helen Liang is also a cancer survivor, and she recently allowed us to
film her story and the qigong exercises she used to beat terminal
    cancer. LINK: www.QigongForCancer.Org

Hello! I am studying Taichi 24 and soon the 48 form. My question is that, why is it that all from Taichi and QiGong begins always on the left side of the body. What sense does it make? Thank you for the answer! 🙏

Most people are right-handed, and the forms are made for right-handed movements.

When her back is to you, you cant see where her hands and arms are doing, I hope in her video teachings its not like this.

It is very delightful and inspiring to not only see Helen (is she a Master? she is certainly masterful!) but to feel one's own body stretching, turning, waving, bending, kicking, standing still. I've been told that her tradition is very highly respected and it is easy to see why. Thank You, Miss Helen!

It looks amazing, but this 'simplified' form is so much more complex over the traditional yang 108. It is a very beautiful set to see and do. You probably would want to have a good teacher to help you over and over.. and over and over ..and over

+barendts Its true. Although it is shorter than the 108, it is not simple. It was named the "simplified" form to differentiate it from the 108, in an effort to popularize Tai Chi to a wider audience, which has certainly happened. With this DVD, Helen Liang is your teacher, and she gives incredibly detailed step by step instruction of every movement. (To be honest, most places do not have a qualified, traditional teacher of the 48 form nearby...)

+YMAA Couldn't agree with you more. Luckily we have a very good Chinese sifu, who's more than skilled in most styles. I'll give it a go and try the dvd, it looks good to me. :)

This sifu is 李德芳, the daughter of the 48 form writer 李天驥, she is a top Taiji Master in Japan. I think she is the standard in 48 form.

What's the difference between Yang 42 competition and this Simplified Yang 48? If I study from this DVD, do I have to relearn the Yang 42? Did Yang 42 update and replace Yang 48?

Is this available without a narrator? So annoying. This is not shot well. Helen Liang is a master, and this video does not do her justice.

Yes, on DVD the demonstration section doesn't have this narration, which is from the introduction on the DVD. The introduction chapter is an artful look at the form. The teaching and demo sections are a whole body tripod shot.

For a beginner is it best to practice the 24 or 48 form? I am learning the 108 long form. This seems much more complicated.
Oh, Helen, loved the fluent movements. So beautiful! Best I've seen. Thank you for the video.

What are your thoughts on learning Tai Chi 24 Form and also Competion Sword 42 Form on both the right and left sides? Is this a good way to become better balanced?
