Wow! Within the first 20 minutes we solved the weird erasable pen mystery! Thank you, Lucia, for telling me what this is. The white end is for erasing your mistakes with fountain pens. The blue end is for writing over what you just erased! How COOL! Especially because I happen to have a fountain pen video coming soon!! 😀
I used it when i was a young kid... (I am 56 now) you whipe your ink from your fountain pen... and you use the blue side to write the right word... Dont understand sometimes what's going on in USA.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Since I'm living in Germany, where like every kid uses these kind of pens at school, plus Faber-Castell is a german company, I feel somewhat qualified to explain what this thing is for 😅 In our schools kids have to use fountain pens to write. And the pen you have is what they use to correct mistakes. It "erases" ink. The Fineliner end is to write over where you've used the eraser end, because regular ink isn't going to write on it again, obviously. Kids call these pens "Tintenkiller". It means "ink killer" which pretty much sums it up 😊 wow..now I feel sorta educated and even a bit sophisticated 🤓🤭 edit: scrolls down and finds out how well-educated literally everyone is 😅😅😅
In Germany this thing is called Tintenkiller and saved me in school when I made mistakes, especially in classwork or exams, because we wrote here with fountain pens since primary school.
Dont be so negative about your art. You did a great job. And as artists we are always learning and improving our techniques. I know I need more practice. 😊 a little each day. Keep it up.
That makes me wonder with what kind of pens elementary school children learn to write in the USA. Pencil? Chalkboard? Ballpointpen? Or isn't it a big deal if a child makes a mistake and crosses it out? And to clarify: just the commonly used blue ink is deleteable with the pen. This is also not very lightfast in general, so I would not do art with this kind of ink.
@@chrom0xide123 Im 23, so as of about 15 years ago, in Elementary school our school supplies list maybe had a pen or two on it but we pretty much exclusively were told to use #2 pencils and usually a white block eraser.
Yes! I used them too, in Argentina You erase the ink and have to wait to the paper to dry a bit before writing with the other side, if not, it's a disaster. :D

Hey Mira! I wanted to help clear up some confusion concerning the ink eraser haha. I used to have one of them when I was younger. The colourless end is supposed to erase ink from a fountain pen and you’re supposed to write over the erased bits with the blue end. That’s why the colourless end doesn’t erase the blue end. I also wanted to give you some advice on sketching and anatomy. This first trick has really helped me in my sketching: think in layers. I always have a first and a second sketchlayer. First, I draw the big shapes with no details and I focus on the proportions. Once I have that rough sketchlayer on the paper, I focus on adding details. Breaking your sketching process up in those two parts will help you focus on one thing at the time rather than focussing on both at once, which will result in better proportions and better details! Second, I can definetly relate to the not being bound by style thing. My style consists of a ton of different substyles. The key is to keep the style consistent throughout a drawing. If you have a realistically shaded portrait but a cartoony sweater, it’s not going to look cohesive. (If that’s what you’re going for, by all means continue! But it’s one of those things where you need to know the rules before you can break em). Third, anatomy. I have one word. XABIOARTS!!! Seriously, his tutorials on UA-cam are so incredibly helpful. I love your stuff Mira, and I can’t wait to see you grow as an artist! Hopefully I was able to help! -Saskia.

My question is - why did you get the erasable pen in the first place? Glad that you were able to try it out to save us the grief of the disaster. Cheers! :)

@@MiraByler I'm actually really loving it. I think it's probably the nicest mlp related thing I've drawn. It's more realistic than the cartoon too, just a similar style.
You know that ,,ink erasers,, it's more like and school supply. We use the white tip to erase mistakes and the fine tip is for writing again on the area you erased because you will not be able to put ink on the area you erased,or you could write over that with a pilot pen . Here ,in Romania we write over it with a pilot pen but you could write with anything except ink pens and we call it ,,pic,,.
That guy you drew in the corner looks like he’s sad that the plant the girl is holding is getting all the love. But seriously he’s looking right at her😂
"B" doesn't stand for Blender. It's one of the stroke widths. There are usually three of them - F, B and M. "F" stands for "Fein" (fine), it's for careful erasing, for example individual letters in a word. Thin lines basically. "B" stands for "Breit" (broad/wide), it's for quickly erasing whole words. Broad lines. "M" stands for "Multi" and that's a tip you can use for both fine and broad. Ink erasers are mostly a writing tool (in Germany every kid in elementary school has at least one), but as with every other writing tool, you can use it for art as well. I had an art teacher once who let us paint a whole sheet of paper with ink and then, when it was dry, we had to "draw" with the eraser part (just as if you filled a whole sheet of paper with charcoal and then drew something with an eraser). Hope you know what I mean ... I think we made winter sceneries with it. :'D Rules: With the white tip you erase ink. You can't write over the erased spot with usual ink, instead you use the blue part of the pen. Careful though, because once you wrote with that blue part, you can't erase that again (as you noticed yourself xD).
@@MiraByler No problem, glad to help. :) Hope you'll find some cool way to create art with it. It's not a waste of money anyway if you own a fountain pen.
Frixion pens are ballpoint pens that are erased by heat (friction). The erased part can be overwritten at any time by the same frixion pen. The erased ink reappears when applying cold. Ink eraser pens only work on standard blue fountain pen ink. They work chemically. The erased ink never reappears and can't be overwritten with fountain pen ink (as the eraser fluid sinks into the paper and will instantly start the chemical reaction as it comes in contact with fresh ink). So as both systems have in mind to erase ink, they are very different.
Lol Wow This Was Shocking Because Here In My Country Everyone Has These We Use It At School To Erase The Fountain Pen But We've Never Used It As An Art Pen...
I swear, everyone who tries these 'erasable' pens is always super shocked, as though it's their first time using an erasable pen. However, if you live here in England, every kid has to have used them at least once, and they are always by the specific brand - frixion.

Also, the dude there looks like he's been jilted by her. Like, she chose her plant over him! 😂
LOL
That guy you drew in the corner looks like he’s sad that the plant the girl is holding is getting all the love. But seriously he’s looking right at her😂
Hahahaha!!!
Thanks for showing your mistakes. It really is encouraging.
this videos gonna be great
:D
Oh yeah I do that same thing with my hand... Lol... My brain is always "Which side does the thumb go on again??" lmao
Hahaha! So glad we aren’t alone 😂
You just reached 100k!

I’m currently drawing a chocolate chip cookie plushie that’s also a superhero(it’s an entrance for advanced art)
Rules: With the white tip you erase ink. You can't write over the erased spot with usual ink, instead you use the blue part of the pen. Careful though, because once you wrote with that blue part, you can't erase that again (as you noticed yourself xD).
That is so cool! I’d love to try using the eraser end to make art!! And thanks for explaining the tips!
@@MiraByler No problem, glad to help. :) Hope you'll find some cool way to create art with it. It's not a waste of money anyway if you own a fountain pen.
You're cool, interesting and cute. I subbed! lol I like how she's cute and giggly in that awkward, silly kind of way. 🤗
It reminds me of the pilot frixion pens
Frixion pens are ballpoint pens that are erased by heat (friction). The erased part can be overwritten at any time by the same frixion pen. The erased ink reappears when applying cold.
Ink eraser pens only work on standard blue fountain pen ink. They work chemically. The erased ink never reappears and can't be overwritten with fountain pen ink (as the eraser fluid sinks into the paper and will instantly start the chemical reaction as it comes in contact with fresh ink).
So as both systems have in mind to erase ink, they are very different.
I'm skatching with you and I'm drawing a kind of realistic dog(dalmatian) it's touring out great to me
Ahh, that sounds so cute!
Lol Wow This Was Shocking Because Here In My Country Everyone Has These We Use It At School To Erase The Fountain Pen But We've Never Used It As An Art Pen...
Hi mira ❤️ i Love your Videos you deserve more likes,I also have that eraser pen too!
Thank you!
Mira Byler you‘re welcome!
OMG YOU GOT 100.000 SUB!!!!
EEEEEEP!!! Thanks to all of you!! 💜💜
Yeah I am sketching right now. Btw I'm drawing a bird with colored pencils
That sounds like a beautiful drawing!
I swear, everyone who tries these 'erasable' pens is always super shocked, as though it's their first time using an erasable pen. However, if you live here in England, every kid has to have used them at least once, and they are always by the specific brand - frixion.
ph no. my phone took so long to tell me you uploaded
