When Country music wasn't all about getting drunk, and cheating. When Gospel music wasn't just 3 chords and all sounding alike with flashing strobe lights.
What’s stopping you? I listen to real country and bluegrass all the time. Just because it’s not on broadcast tv it still exists. As does the United States of America. Our entertainment choices don’t define our great nation…
Dad used to wake us up on Sunday morning with Tennessee Ernie Ford's gospel albums. My siblings hated them. I loved them. Ernie had his personal problems with the booze and what not, but, I loved his singing on those old gospel songs.
I’m 57, And this is what I grew up on. I grew up in a large financially poor family and this type of weekly entertainment for me as a child was priceless. I miss all these old boys but String i especially miss. Thanks for this video!
Very sad and unfortunately true for the SOB that murdered our Beloved String and Miss Estelle the man who shot them was recently paroled ! What a total shitshow Nation we have allowed America to Become!
Somebody really knew how to put talented people together on that show. It’s a fact that Heaven has more musical folks than we ever will on earth right now. How wonderful it will be when we all get together again and have a great sing along. Meantime we can enjoy these clips and get a lot of joy from them.
I always like when the grandpa buck and Kenny price and Roy would do their gospel quartet on the show it was such a good program still always think when I watch these clips it always takes me back to many Saturday nights staying the night with my grandparents and my uncle. My sister and I all sat in the front room and would watch hee haw and it was a show you could watch with your grandparents. They have all gone home now but look forward to that day when I can once again sit in a different front room and just enjoy that time with them again.
I watched this show but never appreciated it as a kid ... probably because I grew up in the mountains of Virginia But seeing the USA today ..... I miss these days now
Grandpa Jones!!! O que tem de pessoas aqui no Brasil que conhece a obra deste homem é incrível!!!Muitos artistas famosos se inspiraram em Grandpa Jones!!!Essas canções são de uma época em que a sociedade tinha um pouco de moral e bons costumes!!
Sure did bring back memories of my much younger years n how some of grew up listening to this kinds of music n being taught how to play all those instrument. Was good to hear this old country music n let us ones who moved away from that growing up shows us it really showed us even older u never ever forget how u grew up n how u learned country living beautiful old music to remember forever
Grandpa Jones, Stringbean, Ernie Ford, Roy Clark, and all the rest on Hee Haw: It just doesn't get better than this. Ernie Ford is my favorite singer and Grandpa Jones was my favorite cast member on Hee Haw.
I used to sneak the radio on in my room n listen to the Grand Old Opry with Grandpa Jones ,Ernie Ford , Minnie Pearl and a whole bunch more. On WCKY Cinncinatti 1 ,Ohio ,USA. ❤ that was 64 years ago...old boy...out 😂 I am 76 now, don't sneak the radio under my covers..I got The Samsung Android and no, I dont miss my little Sony tansistor radio. It didnt have UA-cam lol❤😂😂 Life is Good

The sad thing is on some of the re-runs, they cut this part out. What was really beautiful....you could tell these guys were singing from the heart....they believed each and every word they were singing..
It came on cbs at 8 pm Saturday night for i think three years then it started coming on at 7. Big Daddy Rabbits at the studio didn't think people wanted to hear or watch such. Hee Haw went into sindecation and 90% of the stations picked it up! Earlier time and less cost! Never missed an episode!!
Beautiful singing, beautiful music, three different styles of Banjo picking, I Love it. @ 1:19 Ernie Ford, start havin' a good time there, idk why but it makes me happy an smile when I see that part.
Reminds me of sitting on the couch at my papaws watching hee haw and dukes of hazard. Everybody on this video is dead and gone. Papaw too and my childhood. Dangit man! Where does the time go?
This brings back so many fond memories of my Dad he has been gone for 3 years now but I can still hear him singing this song. RIP Dad until we meet again!
Ernie Ford had on his "Sunday go to church Liberty overalls." Notice that they're heavily starched. My dad wore overalls everywhere. Church, weddings, funerals. It was just the way we lived back then...
I love eachh one of these men. I also respect each one for all they preserved of other styles of Country and Hill ballads for now and those follow. They are at the top of all others. . . May be there is another couple by them, but in no way is it crowded at the top!
More talent in this one video than in all of Nashville today.
True!
Garth Brooks molests goats with his gay sister drinking Bud Light. Fake country.
And not a Bud lite or girth Brooks around either.
I would wholeheartedly agree.... More talent on the instruments and vocals than any canned synthesizer bull squat on today's music.
True that!
When Country music wasn't all about getting drunk, and cheating. When Gospel music wasn't just 3 chords and all sounding alike with flashing strobe lights.
You know they are now all together up in Heaven reunited playing and singing praises to the Lord in His Heavenly choir!!!
Hello Debbie how are you doing!!
Amen!
YOU BET!
Silly comment for which you have zero evidence...
I grew up listening to these fellas. What a wonderful trip down memory lane, Saturday night, Hee Haw and a bowl of popcorn!
Hello how are you doing..?😊
I to loved this show, miss it very much
It didn’t take much to make us happy, did it?
Glory is displayed in this song, the trials and tribulations are rewarded. We live in peace to serve One Lawgiver and Judge.
AMERICA! We need these times again!
What’s stopping you? I listen to real country and bluegrass all the time. Just because it’s not on broadcast tv it still exists. As does the United States of America. Our entertainment choices don’t define our great nation…
ESPECIALLY those values, that world view!!!
Dad used to wake us up on Sunday morning with Tennessee Ernie Ford's gospel albums. My siblings hated them. I loved them. Ernie had his personal problems with the booze and what not, but, I loved his singing on those old gospel songs.
I love to hear him sing. I have several of his records.
My grandma used to blast us awake with “The Gospel Sangin Jubilee” on Sunday morning.
I show this to my kids as proof you used to have to have talent to be on television.
That is the truth!
I wish I could like that comment 1,000 times, good sir!
This is so true
I'm 56 and remember planning my day so I could watch this
Unless you were one of the Monkees. 🤔🙄
God bless those boys as they have all flown away now.
May god rest their souls
Will never have folks like these again. Thankful I bore witness to their skills.
Filled my childhood every Saturday night.
I’m 57,
And this is what I grew up on. I grew up in a large financially poor family and this type of weekly entertainment for me as a child was priceless. I miss all these old boys but String i especially miss. Thanks for this video!
David "Stringbean" Akeman was shot by a robber in his home. Selfish people trying to take what isn't theirs.
Beloved old tune. Stringbean played clawhammer-style. He was a protege of Uncle Dave Macon. Roy Clark could play anything with strings on it.
Good old String....a shame the way he died!!
Grandpa is the only one playing clawhammer style in this video.
@@shannonhenson609 Well, that was Stringbean's style.
@@steelers6titles : indeed and he was very good at both clawhammer and two-finger.
Very sad and unfortunately true for the SOB that murdered our Beloved String and Miss Estelle the man who shot them was recently paroled !

FACT Watching this great video of the group Praising God I see now how far America has fallen...... Wake up America
I flew away just now listening! Life is good!

Uplifting and entertainment at its best! They have all flown away to a better land but left us their memories.
Awesome Memories Of My Childhood! 🙏👍
LOVE seeing Stringbean on banjo!!
Heaven must have incredible bands up there now.
I think a lot of us grew up watching this show, I loved it
May each of those talented men rest in peace . They are playing in heaven where no sorrow is.
Dang! In tears. Miss these awesome gentlemen so much
Me too!
Makes you wish this was still on.

I loved Kenny Price....
I watched this show but never appreciated it as a kid ... probably because I grew up in the mountains of Virginia
But seeing the USA today ..... I miss these days now
I grew up in the mountains of virginia and still live there. This music was basically my life and this show a nice way to spend the evenings.
I miss it tremendously as well.
Michael Spitzer I understand. I took for granted the music on TV in Georgia a long time ago.
So do I.
Same here, i grew up in the hollers of east Tennessee and i never understood how this show was pure gold when i was a little kid.
How beautiful! 😮❤

So right. Look at us now 😢
Back when decency was respected.
I love to hear Grandpa Jones play his banjo and sing. And I have a rather large collection of Tennessee Ernie Ford records.
So much talent.. Rest in Peace
They might be gone but never forgotten. I miss the old tv shows.
That is great banjo picking
That one makes me cry.
Essas músicas transmitem um clima de festa e de alegria contagiantes
Um dom desses americanos sulistas
São ótimos 👍
You gotta love good ol’ Stringbean up there between Grandpa and Roy with his “bottlecap special”.
Oh lord, how I remember watching these the first time growing up, no rerun. I absolutely adore Tennessee Ernie Ford.

Still brings a smile to my face:)
Hello Julie how are you doing!!
Love Ferlin, the music and song! Most of all I love reading the precious memories of everyone!!
Bring back lots of memories of mom and dad and hee haw miss both
Seriously, they should bring this show back, even if it’s just reruns. Such great television!
They would never bring anything like this show back these days. It's too southern and too white. That is looked down upon today.
Love that banjo sound
Very nice!!!!
all country superstars. including the musicians. These guys just got it right. The worse is how Stringbeans life ended so sadly. Tragedy. mos60
I remember when Stringbean was murdered. Such a talented and good man!
Yes he was, two guys went to try and rob him and his wife. He was an incredible picker.
Ernie Ford had on his "Sunday go to church Liberty overalls." Notice that they're heavily starched. My dad wore overalls everywhere. Church, weddings, funerals. It was just the way we lived back then...
i love all types of music but there is something special about banjos...love the gospel aspect also
it's cool seeing the older style used by Grandpa and String next to Roy's picking
Thank you for the vid.
I use to love this show when I was a kid.
Four boys wonderful 😍
Always looked forward to Saturday nights watching these great artists
I loved hee haw!!! When I was a kid I had a pair of hee haw overalls and wore them everywhere all the time! ❤️
This is what the children and parents of today need to be watching together.
