I absolutely KNEW you'd bring out the American Lawman - it's been your favourite for years.... Lol.. ;)

interestingly, the G10 versions are 40.00 Cdn more than the micarta version. Weird.

It’s the type of Micarta used. They’re using richlite if I recall correctly which is a reasonably affordable material but has some flex - the G10 is much stiffer and comes in a few colors.

    I unfortunately must chime in:
I recently handled several of the base models that were from the latest production run; I can positively state that the QC issues HAVE NOT been fixed, sadly. The action varied wildly from buttery smooth to almost unusably stiff. All had noticeable horizontal blade play, in spite of the stiff action on some, and several had substantial lock rock. I personally will not purchase one without handling it first, and would advise others do the same.
It's particularly disappointing, as I'm a big fan of Tactile Turn and Will Hodges in particular; he helped me customize a pen for my dad who has nerve issues, so I definitely owe him one. I'm of the mind that the Maverick was released far too early; It's got some significant teething issues that haven't been worked out yet.

Can you let me know where you handled the knives? They do have somewhat stiff actions and we try to let people know that is just a part of a washer knife. You can certainly loosen the pivot and get a looser action, but that's when the blade play issues show up. This is Will.

Will, this was at Blade HQ's showroom about a month ago. I'm sorry to reconnect with you in this fashion, but I greatly appreciate that you care enough to reach out!
I certainly understand leaving the action stiff and allowing it to break in. That's a good general practice for washer knives. My concern arose from the horizontal blade play in spite of the tightness. The lock rock was also of concern, albeit to a lesser extent; Looking at the construction of the bar lock, I would assume that some vertical play is almost unavoidable due to the clearances that allow the bar to move freely within its track.
Of course, these issues are not endemic to the Maverick, and I have experienced similar symptoms with other brands' renditions of the bar lock, particularly Benchmade.
If I can provide additional feedback or be of assistance in any other way, let me know! As I said, I owe you one.

It’s a washer based knife. If it’s stiff that means it needs to break in so the parts can marry properly. I urge anyone with a PB washer based knife, that isn’t happy with the action, not mess with it. Carry and use it for a few weeks first. It will break in, smooth up, and then the action will be perfect.
You cannot get lock rock on a cross bar lock. Lock rock is from improper liner/frame lock geometry. On a cross bar lock it’s primarily based on spring tension and break in.
TLDR: stop messing with it, use it like a knife is intended and it will break in over time.

The Anthem is the best comparison.
They're really similar on hand, and use. Action is completely different, but that should be a given.
