I've eaten spam a lot in my life in the US, but I also grew up very poor. It was a cheap option, and it's a common meat given out by food pantries. My mom use to slice it very thin and fry it and call it bacon. It's still my favorite way to eat it.

Kyuho, Spam is HUGE in our household. 😊 My husband has to have Hawaiian breakfast (Spam, Portuguese sausage, eggs, and rice), least once every 2 weeks. Thank you both for sharing your week with us! Happy Lunar New Year to you both! Loved watching Kyuho make his Jjimdak recipe. Sarah, have you had Yupdduk? My niece recently introduced me to it. It was delicious, but a bit too spicy for me. The whole trash bag thing totally reminds me of Japan. Didn't realize Korea did a similar thing. But it's just crazy how specific the trash is in Japan. Container for recycle, container for food waste, container for paper, etc. PITA for sure, but better for the environment and keeping the planet from exploding. Certainly doing have anything like that in NA :D.

I can't speak for others in the US, but for my family who is a mix of Mexican, Filipino, and Swedish, we like Spam. We eat it for breakfast with eggs, in a breakfast burrito, or just plain white rice. We make Spam musubis for my kids school lunch. We add it to soups and ramyeon. We have it with cabbage and soy sauce. It's pretty good! I think the mistake that some people make is that they eat it straight out of the can without pan frying it a bit. At least, that's what I've seen some people do when they try to show reactions to eating Spam. You need to cook it to make it better. Same with eating flour and corn tortillas; you need to heat them up. I've seen so many people try to eat tortillas raw.

I'm not so sure that's a great idea for the outdoor cats for the same reason the water bowl freezes. If the cats don't finish their food quickly enough - then the cats can neither drink nor eat. Seems they stop by frequently though to at least try to provide water for the cats.

Spam is alive and well in the US and Canada. I watched a video the other day that said the US is the largest consumer of Spam and South Korea is the second.

That exhibit looks wonderful. What a nice date. I’m glad that Kyuho can see all of the colors with his glasses. I would enjoy both the art exhibit and watching breakdancing. I think it’s funny that Grey has a fan club. The “stray” cats there have it made. And once again, you enlightened me on yet another Korean thing: specific trash bag colors for food waste and trash. Wow! Thanks for sharing the Korean braised chicken recipe.
