    Thanks so much for making this video. This is just what I've been looking for. The reason ACC runs so bad in VR is because Kunos chose to use the deferred rendering option of the unreal engine instead of forward rendering option, which is for virtual reality.

      That's interesting, I guess we can consider VR for ACC is set in stone and will alway remain a bit pants.

      @@MAMAMA341 I’m on 8kx; I’m definitely pro VR. Triples can be nice. But I mainly use large 4k TVs myself, but then for games where I wanna go wide I configure a 21:9 resolution. Obviously not close to 48:9 :) i did have a 32:9 for a while but it was in a time I wasn’t racing and then found the 4k TVs more versatile.

    LOL.... I feel your pain about wanting a 3080 and having to go higher. I also wanted a 3080 but one day, a Radeon RX6900XT appeared in stock at a local retailer, I snapped it up and have been pleased with it so far (had it for a little over a month now), I paired it with a Ryzen 5600x and here too I am happy. I have been turning up the eye candy while using my Valve Index at 90hz and will sometimes go down to 80hz to test out using even more eye candy (I don't notice a difference in smoothness between 90 and 80hz for sim racing). Thank you for making this video, you have given me a few settings ideas for various sims which I will try, also, there so very little informational videos regarding the new line of GPUs from both nVidia and AMD when used in VR and especially Sim Racing in VR. It's a great service you are doing for your viewers, thank you! :)

      Thanks Jack, for that awesome feedback. I agree 80hz is perfectly good for sim racing. Glad you found the video was useful. I discovered some results I didn't expect during all the testing, so it was a useful project to work on and share.

      I have the g2 and a 3090 and you will not lock the 90 frames with the original headset resolution. Only way to get stable 99 fps is to reduce the pixel density. In my case 70 % . Sadly , Nürburgring and Spa use a lot of performance , on this tracks i have to reduce to 60 %.
      I returned now to classic AC with SOL. New FFB feels like ACC and i have stable frames with full resolution.
      Hope, the DLSS option in unreal 4 engine will come soon, maybe thats the gamechanger for acc in vr .

      @@phenrysmueller3597 I can set the reverb to 60hz and it pretty much stays locked at 60fps even with extreme weather, full grid and high graphics setting including resolution at 100 also pixel density at 100, problem is the flicker at 60hz with the G2, that’s why I have Quest 2 coming as that can be set to 80hz and I think this will be best for ACC as the reverb needs more juice to run at 90, i wish reverb had a 80hz mode with no flicker

      ACC is badly optimized no doubt. Bur for me with a rift s, the jump from a 1080ti to rx 6900xt made a huge difference.... Now I always have a smooth experience with max 80 fps,render scale 100 and ss 1.5. No matter the ai or weather, butter smooth. I do use json and ini files from the racedepartment community tho.
      Unfortunately I have to return my video card because of no support in render software...

    Super interesting video. I’m running a 2080ti and consider upgrading too.. did you try 80fps instead of 90 in ACC? Do you prefer the 10 extra fps over fidelity? Thanks again for the information

    • @SimRacingCorner
      @SimRacingCorner  3 роки тому +1

      I find the problem with ACC is many graphics settings don't scale very well with the expected visual quality/load you expect at those settings. So running at 80fps to free up resources doesn't make it look more pretty if you move up from say low to medium settings. You need them at high or ultra to enjoy any tangible eye candy benefit. But you then hit CPU load issue again even at 80fps and you'll get massive framerate drops at certain sections of the track.

    • @JonasWindey
      @JonasWindey 3 роки тому

      @@SimRacingCorner I just tested with your settings but if I turn anti-aliasing off there is a huge amount of flickering around the edges of everything. Even at 160% SS. Doesn't that bother you?

    • @SimRacingCorner
      @SimRacingCorner  3 роки тому

      @@JonasWindey I do know what you mean, it not ideal. I didn't use the in-game AA as I really don't like the blur it applies to the entire image. I find it's almost like it appears out of focus and it gives me eye strain after a time as my brain is trying to focus the image. It's a no-win situation really, shimmering edges or blur. I went with the shimmer. Ideally increasing the SS can improve that, but then it hits you with big frame dips again at certain points on the track.

    • @SimRacingCorner
      @SimRacingCorner  Рік тому

      I guess if the user is 100% VR sim racer, then it's a fair option. The comfort (both on your head and eyes), build quality and balance of features are great. Personally, I race with a monitor and VR. Mostly on the monitor. But I also play (many) other VR games, and the Index is a great headset all round. But I will admit I use the Quest 2 more than any other headset, I like the versatility (PC and Quest gaming), light weight, and comfort (once you've changed the head strap). The Quest 2 works just fine with PC games and sim racing. The Quest 2 is much better value for money than the Index. But the Index is the better dedicated headset for PC gaming. But not by so much, at least for me, as I usually use the Quest 2 for PC VR gaming most of the time.

      @@SimRacingCorner cheers for getting back to me bud 👍, I have a quest 2 with an aftermarket headstrap so it's pretty comfy 👌. I just wondered if the Index worked better having a dedicated dpv lead, I also thought the pov was a touch wider too?.
      I think il stick with the quest 2 for now and maybe await the arrival of the quest 3/ Pimax Crystal and the much coveted Index 2 apparently in the works 👌 .
      Thanks again for all the info, I too run the 9900k cpu, it's a great cpu for over clocking too. I followed a great guide by Boosted Media and I get 5ghz on all cores, well worth it 👍

      Index FOV is larger, and noticeable. But not quite enough where it's a big enough deal over the Quest 2 really. You need to look at the Pimax for FOV where things step a notch. I did forget to say, the colours on the Index are more vibrant, but the Quest 2 has less SDE.
