A complement can be an adverbial phrase, too, because a prepositional phrase is called an adverbial phrase/adjectival phrase. For example, I am at home. In this sentence, at home is a prepositional phrase, and it acts at the place of an adverb.

    Sir
    One doubt,,
When object complement starts with some participle phrase instead of any kind of clause (noun or adj), it speaks of any object(noun in nature). It's ok.
Then does the same noun object take article indefinite or definite?
    Looking forward to your response
    Thanks in advance.

A new book is the object of the verb ' have ' & it is a noun phrase . Complement is used after linking verbs .

@@EnglishTutorialJayantaSir Sir,How can it be called an object as it ' a new book' isn't receiving any action done by someone bcz 'have' is not an action verb here in this sentence, rather it 'have ' is showing the state of possession,,,,,,????Plz Give me a clear and translucent explanation about why ' a new book ' is called an object here!!!! Well Sir,Lemme give you two examples & help you unfettered my problem.better ---So for example-----I eat an apple.
      I have an apple.
In the 1st example,'eat' is my action word that shows the action being received by my object 'apple'. Again ' apple' is my object since it receives the action of eating performed by the subject---'I'.It's in my understanding.
But in the 2nd sentence,I cannot call ' apple' an object for it's not receiving any action done by the subject 'I'...The reason behind it is---The use of the verb ' have' bcz this verb here is showing the state of possession, not showing any physical or mental action done by the subject 'I'.Then How is it possible for us to call 'apple' an object like the noun phrase 'a new book ' as per your knowledge~!!??? Plz Sir Explain it quite clearly, dear Sir!!!May My Lord Krishna always bless you with n number of knowledges Sir!!! Have a great great Day to you!!!
