Currently using the hair tool. Very Powerful tool. Thank you for the videos. I have to watch them over and over again because you pack so much information in, good stuff.
I would suggest starting by watching/reading this 'one min hair setup' : joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/main_workflows/hair_system/#one-minute-hair-setup . And then playing with addon from there. Imo it is fastest way to learn how the addon works.
@@bartoszstyperek6306Thanks read through it and is solved the last few problems I was facing. Going back and forth between a CC 3 and blender, and then unity, textures always seem the most painful of the process, lol.
My man this addons is such an efficient tool from production stand point❤. I hope you continue developing it. Recently I saw hair brush and tried to compare it with hair tool. And i can say for sure hair tools make such an optimised hair cards. Although I atruggle to find a way to make a furr. May you consider to make any even short tutorial on furr production?
Thanks. I'm developing HTool constantly. New version 3.4 should bee out soon. About fur - have you seen ua-cam.com/video/-wfgxtbXPPk/v-deo.html - its for older version of Hair Tool, but hair modeling method showed in here did not change that much compared to latest HTool
Why don’t you create a step by step tutorial for your addon , I am find it very difficult to use with the blender 3.6. Please Make a start to end tutorial for using the addon. It’s so much confusing
Can you explain how to bake he color map? I've been playing with different color variations, of the hair and it works in the viewport, but it keeps baking the same result for the diffuse texture map
Are you guys having problem with Blender 4.0 and 4.1 when I bake more than 1 map it crashes also If I bake 1 map and than click the 2nd it crashes too. to successfully bake without exiting blender again and again is to return to main scene then again into the baking scene and bake next. But the problem is not only in hair tool its when I bake anything. I think its something with AMD drivers also my video card is radeon 5700xt. I think to report an issue in github.
If I remember correctly, one user reported - that switching to CPU - in blender reder settings, fixed the crashes. Crashes happens to like 0.1% of people.
HI , thanks for the tutorial, i wonder that in timeline 13:05 you said same thing is true for the directional and flow, whats that mean? because the next second the hair turn black and i have no clue what you do to change that
It means u have to set both of these nodes - to 'Non color' (if I remember correctly). Thing is - tangent map does not work in eevee (yet), so you could preview result only in cycles.
Hi, I just noticed your question - there is no tutorial for eyebrows, but there is eyebrow preset in hair library that you can use- joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/hair_library/ . Hair library is free, and u can get on gumroad, on HTool page.
I have two hair systems on the model the eyebrow and the hair if i wanted to bake what do I click? does it bake both hair systems? do i click on hair particle? do i click on both? I love your addon but the docs explains very little about how this system works
head hair - bake them just like in video above. For eyebrows - you could add 2 extra meshes, with hair systems - shown in green on image below: ibb.co/st9wnqm and bake it together with head hair. Or you could load 'eyebrows' preset from hair library - it comes with its own texture and eyebrows haircards that you could put on your character. I will have to make video showing how to match preset to your character (here is part of video where I showed how to snap - scalp to character head ua-cam.com/video/TvBw2eGsky4/v-deo.html , )
Also I recommend to updating to latest HT 3.5.x, where hair baking scene got updated - with two more baking setups: Stubble Hair and Long Curly hair (each placed in separate collection). Baking stubble hair preset , works very well for short haircards like: eyebrows, short beard etc.
When you select diffuse pass - it should assign 'DIFFUSE' material to all your hair objects. You can customize this material to your needs. I cant tell what is wrong in your case without blend file. Try reaching for support on discord: discord.gg/cxZDbqH
Well it is not hard - see joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/faq/#how-do-i-export-hair . more tricks about how to setup hair in Unreal I have gathered on HTool discord - discord.gg/cxZDbqH
I am having trouble understanding how I would go about exporting the textures for something like Unreal because the textures are still dependent on the shader inside of blender.
These textures are independent on shader - most of game assets use : diffuse, normal map, rougness. In this hair case, the main idea is: - build diffuse texture with depth, ao, gradient, random etc passes. This gives you control of mixing diffuse components to get the hair color you want. Sometimes eg. for cartoon hair - you would just bake diffuse pass, and ignore add other components. Only extra pass in tangent pass (which can be baked as flow or directional map) - which is used to drive direction of anisotropic specular highlights.
My bad. When I pushed another HTool 3.2 update, today, I must have forgotten to add it to download list. It should work ok now - just go to your HTool gumroad purchases page, and you should see version 3.2 in there.
I am asking a very simple question. I want to create hair models using the Hair tool, bake them and export them. Then, I want to manually create the hair snow and place them on the human head, but I do not understand anything from your lessons. Can you explain the Bake section in a way that even someone who does not speak English can understand?
See the one minute hair setup from docs- joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/main_workflows/hair_system/#one-minute-hair-setup , this will give you mesh hair that can be exported to fbx file. About baking scene : shift click on multiple passes that you want to bake, select output folder, texture name (prefix - based on texture pass will be added automatically), resolution - and pres Bake. Default Htool hair material uvs, will match default baking scene layout, so there is no need to tweak anything.
I can only bake one texture out, then when I try to bake another, blender crashes and I have to repeat for each texture. Clicking multiple textures also crashes it xD I am using blender 4.1, is this a bug or am I just doing something wrong?
HI, I just tested Blender 4.0.2 and it seems to work ok. Maybe its but in blender 4.1. Not sure. I woudl recommend using blender lts ( 3.6.5) since it is the most stable. Also make sure you use latest HTool 3.5
When I select the HairCard Preview mesh it does not come with it's material as shown in this tutorial. It basically operates as a hair system with material same as that of hair system. Anyone else face this error?
Ok, I pushed small HT 3.5.1 update -where I restored baking scene - preview material . Use build in auto-udpater to get it -joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/#updating . It is best to re-use 'open baking scene' to get the fixed version.
you need a step by step for beginners. you're teaching as if everyone watching this video has already been using this addon for years and already knows
Hello, the hair tool is very difficult to use in the oven. Why isn't it as easy to use as Fiber Shop? I want to create hair strands using the hair tool, bake them and create hair cards manually. By the way, I want to manually create my beard, moustache, eyelashes and eyebrows. In short, I want to create various hair, beard, eyebrows and eyelashes using only the hair system of your Hair tool and export them using the baking tool, I want to do just that. I will cut the hair by hand. Why are the lessons you teach so difficult? Why aren't they as easy as Fibershop? Why don't you teach beautifully and clearly? Even though they knew your language, they asked you many questions. How will I understand the lessons you teach even though I don't know English? You need to make the cooking part of this hair tool as easy as fibershop
Fiber shop is only handling baking, HTool is handling: baking, haicards generation, animation with automatic rigging, it has hair presets library, input parameters can be masked with various masks (ver group, vert. color, texture etc) etc - all this makes it more complicated. And if their setup is so easy - then why their tutorial is around 50 min, long - ua-cam.com/video/J6ZlCMPsUBs/v-deo.html ? Here are basics steps to bake texture : joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/texture_baking/#baking-textures . To create eyebrows, beard etc. - I would suggest to load preset from hair library: joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/hair_library/ - these presets are fully customizable ( you can change profile, from flat haircard to strand primitive if you want to bake e.g. eyelashes/ eyebrows - see joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/hair_profiles/#round-profile ). If you want more help - joint HT discord : discord.gg/cxZDbqH

Yes, texture is just image. It does not matter if it comes from photoshop, or blender. You just update texture in your hair material, and that is it.
