If this song was refined a little, it would work well as a "Generic Legendary" theme, akin to what Gens 4 and 5 had. If Kalos had its own set of Sub-Legendaries, this song would've been perfect for them.
Apparently this one had nothing to do with Mewtwo at that point in development? I heard something about this song's filename proving a 4chan leak about Team Flare and AZ originally being aliens.
the song’s file name ends in ‘secret’ which doesn’t really tell us much, but it’s totally possible that this wasn’t originally for mewtwo and the birds tbh I wouldn’t say any of the unused songs necessarily proved the alien story (as much as I wish they did), the supposed unused “starship approaching” song turned out to be fake I’m pretty sure.

@@zutzutt6300the more I think about it, yeah this might’ve still been for mewtwo since the idea for mega mewtwo had (likely) been around since gen 5, though I’ve always questioned why the legendary birds were there. They didn’t get megas or anything in X and Y so it makes me wonder if they were put there in place of a potentially scrapped legendary or something, and I think this iteration of the theme could be evidence for that since it wasn’t initially planned to go full gen 1 pokemon battle theme mode halfway through edit: my theory was wrong, the legendary birds were actually supposed to be sky encounters because the flying/mirage island mechanics were originally planned for XY EDIT edit: according to the cutting room floor, this was originally intended for diancie, hoopa, and volcanion! so it WASN'T originally for mewtwo. huh.
there's no proof the alien plot ever existed. As much as it makes sense with the successive gen 7, and even 8, the leaks of gen 6 have no trace of any alien plot
Think I much prefer the finished version, this beta version has the same issue I have with a few legendary battle themes where they sound perfectly fine, but then halfway through they drop this sploinky synth on you that just doesn't gel with the rest.

Wow so instead of throwing in generic Kanto encounter music it was once an original composition. Yet another piece of Kalos' identity robbed and overwritten with kanto pandering tripe.
You fail to realize the Kanto pandering was fresh and loved right at that time. I think you just have residual salt. Admit that it went so hard back in 2013.

It's nice to hear these alternate versions of songs from the second Pokémon game I ever played
Apparently the Aura trio were all going to have their own themes. 👀
Aura trio?
@@friendlymonstaa Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde
They have their own theme
@@Shinynyancat213 i think they meant that they were all gonna have their own separate theme
I never played x and y, but this goes hard
The completed version features the melody from Kanto's wild battles, it's essentially a remix. Worth a listen.
Just wait til ya hear the actual battle theme of mewtwo in this game. It goes harder

Beat Diantha twice, and go to the Pokémon Village, where the cave is, and Mewtwo is right there.
