Thank you so much. I have been searching on how to replace the steering coupling on my 74 Challenger. The seal at the end of the coupler disintegrated in half and was wondering how to fix it. I now know what to order to be able to fix it. Awesome video's, watched them all.
Hey folks, I’m hoping someone might have a wave washer, last guy that went through this column left it out so, any help would be great, Cody of you have one, I’d be grateful, great vid too buddy!
Superb and well narrated video for the DIY'r. Is there a website where I can buy a complete kit to rebuild my 70 Cuda Steering Column please? Thanks again, Look forward to watching more videos!
Hello, I have an E-body which I purchased from my dad. The 73 Challenger has been sitting for a really long time and one of the reasons why my dad stored it was because of a steering failure he had while driving it one day. While the car was running, the steering column locked up on him while he was making a sharp turn. With only milliseconds to decide what to do, he was able to force the steering wheel free of being locked. With that story in my head and now having the vehicle, I've just decided to replace the whole steering column (the goal is to restore/replace all the critical mechanics), however, after watching your video, I'm just curious on if you have any thoughts as of how a steering column could have locked up while driving. I just confirmed with him that he stored it after it happened the second time.
Did the wave washer get eliminated in 71 for reasons that the reverse lockout changed? I don’t have a wave washer in my 71 column. Anyone care to comment and share?
hWat if you only want to diagnose/replace your ignition switch? Do you need to use the Miller tool c-4044. At 11:08 the upper bearing suddendly appears raised with the steering shaft. Can I attach a bearing and tap it the way you did to get access to the ignition switch?
I have a 74 Chrysler New Yorker and was wandering if you could help me with the steering column.and how it all gose together from the horn to the ignition..any help would be appreciated ..thank you..
nice video and tips and you got one new subscriber :) cam here because my 74 barracuda steering wheel as a grinding sound wen i turn and sometime it catch and i am wundering what could do that ? thanks
I am looking for a replacement wavy washer and associated guide for my wavy washer for my 1970 challenger steering column. Would you have a spar or know where I can get a replacement?
I've haven't yet found a place to get replacement Wavy Washers. I'm sure there are out there, but I just don't know where. I'm pretty sure some one of the members on the forum forum.e-bodies.org would have an extra or you can watch eBay. Sorry I don't have any extras right now.
Wanted to ask you, I currently have Manual steering (70 Cuda) I want to move to Power Steering, can I use the same shaft by collapsing the pins, and will that actually work or, do I need to find a Shaft from a factory power steering e body. Thanks
I do not know of anyone that makes those covers. Best bet would be to get a used one from someone or a junkyard. Contact David at Roseville Dodge and he might have one. David 586-859-2575
Hey Cody, question for you. While pulling on my column to try to get it free from the steering box I collapsed the pins referenced at around 11:30 of the video and my shaft is in two pieces now. Am I screwed, or is there a fix for this?
Easy fix. You just need to align the pins and put some special Loctite on it. This thread has more info... forum.e-bodies.org/wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-and-steering/12/best-collapsed-steering-shaft-repair/10973/
Are you talking about the upper steering column bearing? www.rosevillemoparts.com/product_info.php/p/bearing-upper-steering-column-shaft-all-62-90/products_id/1794

This is really helpful
I would never have attempted to do this myself but this is like learning on the job.
THANKS
I've watched all 4 parts of this video. It is the best how to video I've ever seen for old Mopars.

Does the bottom of the column shaft have a bushings as the column comes out of the stirring column?
Great video, very informative...would the meat and potatoes part pertain to B bodies as well?...I'm researching to repair my 70 Roadrunner column
