It's going to take me a while to go through all of your videos but I just want to say briefly you're a very inspirational person and I honestly find myself watching these more out of a desire to learn than for the entertainment value they provide. Your attitude, your outlook and how you always find things to do in times when, personally, I'd probably be at a loss. You dont' let anything hold you back and I aspire to be more like that. As a brief start I impulse bought a pennyboard after seeing how much fun you have riding your variety of boards! I've always been self conscious about the dumbest things and that has kept me from doing the things I know I want to do and just trying new things in general. Skating is something I've thought about forever so screw it. I bought one. Lets be honest we all know that the "gay flag" comment was meant to be rude and the fact that Casey still turned it into a positive reaction is utter class. "Destroy judgemental people with an overwhelming sense of open-mindedness and acceptance" - Casey Neistat
Awesomeness Hippopotamus Not really. The whole in your face attitude of the 'gay movement' bothers some people. They are tired of the weddings, the flags, special treatment and protections, etc. But it's Casey's desk, so.....
Cole fyre man that sounds really familiar - almost like gay people being tired of the whole "in your face' attitude of straight relationships, straight marriages, or religious views deeming gays horrible sinful people. But I dunno, I'm just a hippo.
I absolutely love Casey's outlook on the 'story of a movie' and how it is king. Especially with everyone always asking 'what camera is that shot on.' I have even got this question a handful of times... And it's true that everyone sees a good video they jump to 'what was that shot on?!' I can speak for myself I have an extremely cheap 200 dollar point and shoot, and it's the least important thing. I love how Casey encourages young film makers to forget the equipment and look internally for a great story. Don't need a 5000 dollar camera to start making videos.
Yeah this is one of Casey's strongest pieces of advice to me. He's touched on it before, and it's very true. Touching people and affecting people with art is far more important than what its shot on, or what it's recorded with, etc.
Seriously, this is so true. I won a student film festival recently because I forgot about how little I had in the way of gear and just focused on the story. Well worth it, and it's one of my favorite things I've ever made.
Would someone mind reiterating this statement? The "very dangerous" characteristic is not obvious to me as one's 'getting back to work' could be creating their own meaning?

And making that film I feel taught me way more than sitting in class would have taught me. 😬

I literally grab a pen and paper every time I watch casey's vlog (Specially Q&A) great quote one after the other "without a goal you can't score" -Casey Neistat "story is king, everything else is a slave to the story" -Casey Neistat
Hi Casey. Just wanted to say I love your story. I am a high school drop out, almost thirty, now in college and working and a new UA-camr. Your story really inspires me. I worked in the banking industry for ten years. Now I'm trying to make art. Love your vlog.
Casey is a good person you can make an example out of. He worked hard to get to where he is. Unlike that crappy UA-camr who disrespects people around him *coughloganpaul
You have half of a high school education, yet you are one of the most intelligent, wise, and well read people I know of. I really do believe that working with Tom Sachs has made you a much brighter and also a very inspiring and interesting person. I love what you do, you are amazing, and never ever stop making these vlogs.
Since watching your vlogs, I've gotten my lazy ass into gear - now running atleast a 5k everyday for the past month and a half. I've cut out all soda and chocolate, drinking (trying to at least) a gallon a water a day, which is difficult considering how much I hate the taste of water (it's literally nothing). Not only do I feel better health wise, but also so much clearer mentally as well. Thanks Casey for the inspiration.

"Existentialism is very dangerous thing, ignore it, get back to work." Thank you for that. I have been in an existential crisis, and I have to agree with you here. I've found nothing but very dangerous, depressing, and even frightening ideas that mean absolutely nothing to me and how I live my life. But I'm curious, how do you know this? What in your life taught you this?
I lost my best friend because of an accidental drug overdose. He suffered from depression and frequently would speak about the inconsequential nature of his existence. No matter how much I or anyone else told him how important he was, it did not matter. Depression is a physical condition that leads to a rabbit hole of misguided feelings about one's role in life. I have spent alot of time thinking about my mistakes including not recognizing the recklessness of my friend; existentialism requires of me to ponder why I made those mistakes and then what is it about my nature that allowed me to make these mistakes. Rationalism asks of me only to recognise the mistake and then change my behaviour without all the wishy washy self-examination. Casey is right to dismiss existentialism outright since it places me or you at the center of the universe, and that is a very scary place to be indeed.
CatNorway._. Thanks for your insight. 4 years later I still don't know if my friend committed suicide. He had gotten electro-shock therapy in an attempt to stabalize his day to day life. In the week up to his death he told me that the electro-shock therapy was a huge mistake since although his childhood was rough he did not want it erased from his memory. I spent hours on the phone talking to him and he regained some memories. I had my own issues and lost contact for a week, when I tried calling him I got a strange message that he was disconnected. His computer was connected via dsl. I told my mom I was worried, I called him again and at last someone answered, it was my friend's Dad and he had very bad news for me. My last conversation with my friend was a discussion about building a kite for propelling boats, a kind of sail in the sky. Thank you so much for your kind words.
SkitterNSnicklez err isnt' that another way of saying thinking is dangerous? what's the fun in chomping out days for a few medals when they mean nothing? its the most important question and actually i think casey is vaguely aware of an answer in his heart. yes it can cause depression but it can also help you to get out and not fall for some of the bullshit that gets said everyday like you're just a dot in the amazingly big world which does not give a shit about you.
zxcv No, it's not saying thinking is dangerous. It's saying existentialism is dangerous. That should be obvious from what he said. Sure, certain types of thoughts can be dangerous, but you're taking what he said in a rather extreme way. To somehow conclude that because a certain type of thought is dangerous that by extension all thought is. And while it may be the most important question, no human on this planet has ever come up with the answer, in all the 200,000 years humans have existed. It's entirely possible it's an answer we cannot know or comprehend, so for us to think about it is a waste of time, unless we can use it to motivate ourselves. But it can be a double edged sword if used that way, because it can demotivate us as well.

new viewer here!! loved your very well said words about why you dropped out. I had the blessing of becoming a mother right after I graduated high school and for a long time I felt, wrong about not continuing my education. Like, almost as if it was the worst thing that could've ever happened ! I let people make me feel like I failed. Being a mother to my children is the best thing that could've ever happened to me! I look forward to going to college for the first time and setting a good example for them!

+Ralf Nuggs do you ever find it difficult finding work? also what kind of work do you do? do you ever think you'll get your GED to get other certificates etc? just generally curious!
Is your App iOS only or will there be Android too? Also, if there is an Android version, will it be released at the same time or will we have to wait? (dont forget android has more marketshare)
***** Knowing how Casey likes to do things the good way, I would say it's going to be released iOS/Android both at launch. He owns an android (Galaxy S6) and he definitely know Android has a bigger market share, he raised more than 2 millions after all, those people probably want some market analysis before making money rain.. But being a developer, I know how much harder it is to make an app that works consistently on both devices, especially because of android fragmentation. With iOS you have like 3-4 devices to support and they have almost the same hardware, while on android you have to account for thousands of different decides and so different hardware. Yes with Android 5.0 they really improved things and made it a lot easier for developer but it's still more work and testing. Plus apple's new swift is really a pleasure of language to code, while with android you gotta use Java, which I don't like at all, but that's just personal preference..
Filippo Masoni Wow. this is like the first constructive comment i have received on youtube. thank you for your answer filippo. you make this a great community
***** Thanks, glad to do that. I think the community of people here on Casey's channel (and I can say the same on Ben Brown's channel) is the best I've seen... Now back to studying, I have a final exam tomorrow on C and one Friday on Advanced Java!
I like how you stated this entire part where you talked about your moral compass and beliefs and how they drive you to make decisions .. and in the same time, you also clearly said "existentialism" is dangerous, get back to work. That was a very smart indication of how oneself can be moderate. Not superficial yet not AGGRESSIVELY deep.
Is it crazy that your vlogs are addicting to watch 😂 im always telling myself "okay last one then ill go to sleep" then end up wathching the next one....sometimes also even if i already saw it 👌🏽 GREAT job on the vlogs Casey
Casey is a living example of "you don't need school to be successful". Casey is very successful and talks like he went to an ivy league college. People often say its luck why people are successful, they were the few that were born with that path engraved in them, looking at references like steve jobs and bill gates, whose names have reached the heavens. But casey is a more down to earth example of "You don't need school to be successful" He is very successful, probably makes more money than people who went to college. Truly an inspiration of living your life to the fullest, and always seeing things with a clear view. I live in NYC and hope to see you one day Casey
+IGame4Charity Technically, the average human whether they like it or not, does 10,000 steps a day. even if you do 7,000 steps average a day, You will still manage to do wayy over 25 miles in walking and running distance. ***** Its an Atlantic Sturgeon to be exact. The largest fish species in the Hudson river.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_sturgeon
It is a sturgeon
***** I thought it was like a oarfish. Thanks for the info!
That lady moonwalking out of the frame at 1:50 though.
Casey I think your very inspirational and you inspired me to start filming and photography and I love your style of filming with the different camera shots you going in to a room and a camera is already filming I thinks it really cool thanks for the inspiration

There are sturgeons in Hudson? Isnt it very polluted?
I have been a fan for a few years. Just realize you are a high school dropout. I take my hat off to you! Much respect!
I love you Casey. so raw and honest, feels so good to watch your videos! ♡
These were some of his best vlogs in my opinion 👍
Casey is a pretty good speaker. I wonder if he does lectures.
Minkailu Lamin he's done a lot of speaking engagements/lectures around the world. You can easily find some on UA-cam. They're really good, I'd recommend checking them out
Minkailu Lamin He's done 2 Ted Talks, one for Core 77 and one for the Nantucket Project (I'm sure there are more, but those are my favourites!) They're all brilliant and really inspiring!
Probably a sturgeon at the begining
Keegan Gibson Thats what it looks like, Good eatin
sc2142 lol not when it's swimming in THAT body of water
MusingsofaJay♡ It is an atlantic sturgeon, probably wandered off into the wrong waters.
Dont sturgeons also produce Caviar?
Adam Michel I meant it not being "good eatin"
I once saw your bicycle video but didnt pay attention to it much, but now that i have "rediscovered" your channel I just can't stop watching. Your videos and vlogs are amazing and you definately deserve way more subscribers.
I love how he always starts with something completely unrelated to the video's title. Pure Awesomeness.
That "sea monster" was a sturgeon
Bike and skateboard move more quickly than the Death Machine.
Protect Ya Neck/Head, Casey.
Why no helmet on all three of those modes of transportation?
***** too cool for that
NatSherman No one's too cool for head trauma.
***** I completely agree its kind of scary
Casey has street cred, wearing a helmet will take off about 65% of his hard earned street cred.
Watching Casey's vlog and looking for thunderthighs comment has become a daily ritual for me
Stay in drugs, don't do school.
rumors say that op died of a drug overdose
oh hell yeah
TheIcanntspel I've been doing it all wrong
yellow berries hi
________Haze_________ hi
2021, March, 20. watching it without skipping a second. shows how great Casey is.
new viewer here!! loved your very well said words about why you dropped out. I look forward to going to college for the first time and setting a good example for them!
how in the world can vlogs be so addicting?
You sound a bit congested?
6:24 high school drop out
The key to grab the success, believe in yourself and have a deadline so you'll move forward. Thanks Casey!

That fish at the start was a Sturgoen. Yes they're pretty much dinosaurs. No idea why it was in the lower Hudson.
The song is: Flume - Some Minds (Ft. Andrew Wyatt) [Pink Slip remix]... You're Welcome

It's nice to know you're a drop out dude, I dropped out but I'm one of the most motivated people I know (without bragging) and I agree very much! Do I regret it? Fuck no! But do I condone it? Not really.
Filippo Masoni
Wow. this is like the first constructive comment i have received on youtube. thank you for your answer filippo. you make this a great community
***** Thanks, glad to do that. I think the community of people here on Casey's channel (and I can say the same on Ben Brown's channel) is the best I've seen... Now back to studying, I have a final exam tomorrow on C and one Friday on Advanced Java!
***** Have a good day my friend!!.See,you got a constructive and a friendly comment around here!.
Casey Neistat channel is officially the best place to be on the Internet!
So you are able to upload amazing quality vlogs daily and you can run 16 miles at an 8 minute pace it's official I'm convinced you are a super hero
16,2 Miles? Its 26 Kilometers. How is that possible? how much time do one need to run?
He runs about 10 miles everyday...
That's how he stays healthy.
well, 6-10 miles, depending on how much time he has.
If he said he was running at an 8:xx pace, that would equivalate to about 130 minutes. So around 2 hours. Short time needed in a busy day.
Inb4 chicken guy comment
I'm actually surprised it's not here yet. ***** might be dead.
I believe it's a girl hahah
Anne Linklater Chicken person* comment. Excuse me whilst I check my privilege.
what the fuck,,, 16 miles a day... i do like 5 miles a day and pretty happy with it!!
#LGBT support *throws out #* thanks for LGBT support.
16.2 miles is crazy thats more miles you walked in few hours then I walk in a whole month. Fuck I'm lazy. I dont know how you do it.
Thats proly more then i walk in a year, fuk me
+IGame4Charity Technically, the average human whether they like it or not, does 10,000 steps a day. even if you do 7,000 steps average a day, You will still manage to do wayy over 25 miles in walking and running distance. Then again, that many low miles on a single month....you are probably gonna die sooner than you think.
+IGame4Charity I could run 16.2 miles in a few hours If I wanted to.
Ok, what the hell is this thing called again? And how much does it costs? Starting to think i need this mini segway thingy... o.O
It's actually called "the intelligent car balance" and costs about 500-600$ , but Casey just calls it the Death Machine ! :D
Nicole Ha wow, that's to much right now for a toy/death machine when i look at my wallet :D
Nicole Ha He bought it cause Alfie from PointlessBlog told him to. So, THANKS ALFIE!
It's called the MonoRover R2, check it out on Amazon
Pwn4Gamers there is one that costs like 400
