I remember the first time I met Ken. It was at a youth weekend at FBC Jackson. As a music student, he made an impression on me that lasts so this day. When I had the privilege of serving FBC Pascagoula, MS aß Music Assistant, he came twice to a packed congregation. Thank you, Ken for your gifts and sharing them with us.
He does well for a guy with perfect vision. Go listen to his version of "Jesus Lover of my Soul" (on YT). Aside from the really bad artwork and the inexplicable sparkly sound effects in the song itself, that is one devastatingly simple, beautiful arrangement of the Wesley hymn. His intro (with piano and cello) traces the original melody, then he takes off with an entirely different sung melody. It's brilliant, and it's emotional.
He left out the experience at the festival, where Joey had chosen to play the music by someone who, (to quote Ken,) was, "The horiblest composer on the face of the Earth." That's the really funny part of this story! Ken deliberately messed up the piano part because he hated this composer's music!

He does extremely well for a man who is blind. God Bless Him. Rock On.
That is my grandpa. Ken Medema. Like if you’re surprised.
