Hard work but well worth it. I'm also digging bait myself and there is no better bait than that. Great video and good tips....keep up the good work guys!!!!
I would say the hook. While angling this season, a one pound (so i believe) bream broke a hook. I fished and caught very few fish with a hook that turned out to be dull. Also I had trouble with bread thiefs, and to loose dough (batter) that just ran of the hook, worms that semed to taste poorly to the fish. Corn that they mouthed and spat out every time. So I agree that the bait is very important also!

Great video, I have often thought about digging my own bait but have always been hesitant but your video has massively helped. I'm going to grab a couple of mates and go dig some rag worm. I completely agree with back filling, we should always try to leave it how we found it and not leave holes for people to fall into (I'm an idiot so I would end up down 1 😂😂 hence bringing couple of mates)

I've only once ever gotten flaccid ragworm from my regular bait shop. I'm lucky because they have a regular turnover and supply.
I've never had any luck on big or king rag around Swansea or the Gower coast

+Ben Plays GameZ Ragworm bite but if you grab them by the head they can't get you. Lugworm are harmless

where about's is this area he is digging in.
I have a tip. if you put the muck into a bucket of water, stir itup and then throw it out over the siv you use to make your ground bait even, then you will Catch every worm in no time!
Important to know that you shouldn't take green spawning worm, imo useless to fish with but more importantly its the following years stock.
I always wonder why they even sell them,as you say they are really poor as bait,dont keep and all mushy.
just put them in a bukket of seawater than use an airpomp en joy have bait for months gr goort
