I got an original 80's version at a pawn shop before people knew about these. I love how it plays and they definitely have a great, very unique sound to them. Over a decade later, I think it's a keeper.
I picked one up in Sherwood Green Metallica, I wanted one for a long time , these are a limited run of Boxer guitars & basses , I think a total of 414 made, with 141 of them being basses, snatch one up if you've been wanting one, they're well made, Great playing neck & they sound great a very versatile bass.
I have the Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass, a Player series P-bass and the Duff Mckagan signature bass. This one will round out my Fender collection nicely. Just ordered one today. Can't wait to work it into my rotation at gigs.
i know the basses you have a pretty similar - i guess my question is which one seems more well rounded in terms of being versatile? kinda of an oddball question ..thanks
Damn that's a beautiful bass . sounds as good as it looks .have to pick me up either the Fender Japanes one or the duff makagen one .. Mexican version both give an amazing sound ..👍👍
@@josephromero4585 that doesnt matter too much.... for a while it did matter to me. I really wanted a painted neck on all my basses til i realized the wood finish is a bit grippier and from the front it still looks mean as hell with the black and/or matching headstock
The Duff comes with the hipshot extender and nicer color options imo, but I prefer the more neutral TRBX circuit to the Duff specific EQ and both sound and feel great! A Boxer in Olympic White with Tortoise would be a great old meets new combo or Vintage Blonde + black. My only hesitation on the Boxer are the color options
When both pick ups are on do the volume knobs control how much of each pick up volume is coming through? Or does the switch just activate both pick ups and the volume levels can’t be changed?
The originals used to pass for £300-£400!on eBay until the Duff signature model. I love this bass but they’re not a high end bass so what’s with the high end price tag?
I think we can agree that Fender is the Harley Davidson of instruments. Yeah, they make nice stuff, but it’s often overpriced for what it is. There are plenty of basses out there with much more capability with lower price tags. Fender fanboys hate me. Go Ibanez! :)
@@Pookiestud Naaaw, fender at least offers sub $2000 instruments. Gibson is the Harley Davidson of instruments. $2000+ USD for a thunderbird bass is an absolute joke.
With good bass technique you should be using two fingers, you can youse more but it best to start with two. Haha I’m just taking the piss, but seriously, he should be using two fingers
The switch is a pickup selector.i have 1986 passive and an 88 "power jazz special" I want one of these new ones too! Sounds identical to my originals! Wow!
Love everything about that bass! The torino red body and black headstock look fantastic.

Just bought mine in the Sherwood green metallic. I’m LOVING IT!! 🤘🏻
I started playing bass earlier this year (I've been a drummer up to this point) and this was my first and only bass thus far. I love it

Dragan is so tall, it makes the bass look short scale 🤣
Ha good one
His finger technique gave me cold sweats. I’d love to hear solid grooves with pops and ghost notes on this red bad boy.

thinking of trading the red one in for aerodyne how you finding the aerodyne>?
The rear routed electronics and no pickguard is very cool.
I love these basses. I will have to get one.🥂
All time damn pick
Best bass tone I've heard in a demo!!!

That's a crunchy groove at the 3:23 mark!
Downside is those pickup edges are freaking sharp!
While Dagen Doesn’t Really have that Bass Mindset or Groove but damn he can rock
DUFF MCKAGAN
Unity bass is awesome
If it came in black and not red I’d buy one in an instant
I was thinking the same!
They don't come with the painted black neck

Hell no on the Tortoise. This is an 80's bass. It's meant to be rad. I don't want any more 60's derpy colors.
i do have this one! its amazing!
Just ordered mine from Musician's Friend 48 month 0 interest in Torino red ,can't wait
Hi , i don't know if buy the fender boxer or the Fender american performer..
Punch of the precision and warmth of the bridge(jazz)? (Pick ups)
I have an 84 how does the neck compare to the og jbs ? Wouldn’t mind one of these as a backup
When both pick ups are on do the volume knobs control how much of each pick up volume is coming through? Or does the switch just activate both pick ups and the volume levels can’t be changed?
I love that color. It’s like a Ferrari
what difference makes the switch for pickups, if they already have a volume knob for each pickup?
When you slap, do it closer to the neck
pov: you clicked on the video because you wanted to see him play bass
You mean play lead guitar on a bass?
"I've been Dagan." Don't you mean you've been Duff MaDagan?
What price?
Does it have the TBX circuit, whats the price?

It says “Fender” on it 😂 Any other bass with the same specs would be $599, not over $1k.

blackstar unity
Those are the only 2 colors? :(
jup, sadly
Anyone know if these are limited edition
It’s a Duff Makagan signature
Made in Japan = limited
Actually the Duff has a P width nut. These have a Jazz Width.

Passive
No, I think it’s active, if it was passive you wouldn’t need a switch

I think that bass needed a set up before demo ! Its choking out and buzzing all over, doesn't sound good !
Like the bass just not those colours
horrible playing and sound ;/
