The Saw - Are you twisting or side-bending?

  • The Saw is an interesting exercise. It's simply Spine Stretch Forward with a twist/rotation of your spine and one arm behind you rather than in front of you...but ti seems to turn into all sorts of interesting things that don't resemble that at all. Many Pilates tell me that they find The Saw very difficult to teach. However, I don't find it difficult. I think it's more simple than we make it out be. Let's look at this one aspect: The Saw has twisting/rotation and flexion of the spine. There is the most minor amount of lateral flexion and mostly at the lumbar spine. Check this video out and please share your thoughts after you try it for a while.
