Who is YOUR g.o.a.t?!
Jonathan Phillip "Sugarfoot" Moffett
@@izatt82 yes! What a legend 🙌
Mario Duplantier (yes I repeat it 😋). What a organic and feeling drummer !
Neil Peart. Period.
@@no_one_to_exist oh Luke Holland is so good!!!
Taylor Hawkins. Not only his drumming but also the fun he had in playing drums and the joy he had with the guys
RIP TAYLOR ❤
Seeing that "drum and bass" style beat and ghost notes in the bridge section had me moist back in the day. And to the this day my set up is like this!
My Goat is Dave Weckl. Gets even better with every year, incredible skill and groove. Simply the best 🔥🔥
You nailed it in your first sentence, the goat doesn’t exist as it’s far too subjective. Everyone’s goat is just their favourite.
Thank you! It's amazing how many people in the comments don't get this is the main point
Recently I'd say Mark Giuliana or el estepario siberiano
I'm gonna say Taylor Hawkins, as some other comments have. I think his skill and achievement are very high. However, the influence of Travis is tremendous so I think you're right on that scale! When most non-drummers think of a drummer they think of Travis. Awesome vid.
Thank you! Yeah Taylor Hawkins was so great! 💔
Funny to see how the same person have inspired us both so very much, but how for me it was very different clips and highlights, haha!
Hell yeah!
Thats awesome max! What clips was it for you? Just to let you know, these aren't the ONLY clips for me, but, just the first few I remember seeing. ❤
my Goat is Animal from Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem ❤🔥
ANOTHER GOAT IS THOMAS LANG..not to many drummers can match his skills.
My personal G.O.A.T is a drummer I've found recently. II from Sleep Token. I can't really argue for achievement because ST hasn't really been around for long enough, but II's technical skill and creativity are unlike anything I've ever seen. He's bringing Jazz / Funk drumming into the metal scene, while remaining steadfast to the traditional metal style and it's done absolutely incredibly. 'Like That' is a good example, he has a good cover of it here on YT.
That's awesome!
Dennis Chambers for me. Period
I'm in a very similar position to you. Early 30s drummer and very heavily influenced by Travis in my teens. But as my playing and tastes have evolved, for me, the GOAT is Bonham.
It's impossible to single out one individual player, but as far as a multigenerational influencer who had such a unique feel and sound and a skill set very ahead of their time, Bonham takes the biscuit in my opinion.
Hell yeah! That's awesome
He's a fabulous drummer. There's reason I have sat down to learn a few of his techniques....so I can steal them! The zeitgeist of this argument will shift over time, as it should( I have not been influenced at all by the first drummers you mentioned...because I'm older..it doesn't mean they're not incredible). For me, there is a pantheon of drummers who sit at the top. Each bring a different element of your three traits.........Bonham, Peart,Baker, Krupa, Purdy, Gadd, B. Rich, Colaiuta, D Carey, Copeland........They set the standard for a million drummers behind them.
My bad......Jeff Porcaro also
this is litterally one of the best comments on this video! thank you :)
My G.O.A.T has got to be Keith Moon from The Who. I feel like he was such a Pioneer and the things he was doing for his era was unreal! Awesome video dude !clap
Thats a great choice! I think you can kinda see some of Moon's influence on travis aswell! What do you think?
100% bro I think so many drummers would have taken a leaf. It’s the erratic energy and flawless fills isn’t it
Tomas Haake that man is deadly his drumming on bleed is one of the greatesti ever listened to
Who is to say? The list is probably 1,000 names long. Drummers really don't rank each other, we appreciate all. My fav's, Buddy Rich, Dave Lombardo Niel Peart & Niko McBrain.
Thank you for your material. My personal pantheon encompasses Jack DeJohnette, Billy Cobham and Neil Peart, to name a few. Best regards! 🙂
Excellent choices
I really don't understand why this drummer is supposed to have influenced thousands or millions of drummers sure he has power and great unusual drums skills but nothing that really puts him in a position of being the goat. Great drummer for sure legend no way. Tomas Haake, Bobby Jarzombeck and Virgil Donati for exemple brought something really out of this world.
My personal favourite is Jack DeJohnette, but jazz is a completely different beast. I don't really know much about rock, but I would say than Stewart Copeland should be on the top...
I think you kinda missed the point of the video here. Its highlighting that the beauty is that we all have own influences :)
Virgil Donati is so Underated..amazing drummer..
Lol... Typical of a rock drummer to forget than there are other genres... My favourite drummer is Jack De Johnette, who had a unique style back in the 60s, when he started, but in rock I can't think of anyone more influential than Stewart Copeland, the drummer of The Police, who influenced most of the drummers who came after him, including Travis Barker or Joey Jordison. Jeff Porcaro, drummer of Toto, and also present in many hits by other artists (he was an accomplished studio drummer) should be in the top too, and Dave Lombardo should be near too...
Every drummer you have mentioned is amazing! I agree with what you're saying. You may have missed the point of the video! What you are saying here is litterally the point of the video :) its sating how we all have our own inspirations so there's no such thing as a "greatest of all time" really
Don't see that as chauvinism but... dude... Mario Duplantier !!!
Danny Carey is the GOAT for me.
Just ridiculous control and creativity.
came to the comments looking for this, Danny is just insane
Yes, Danny is a stunner.
PHIL COLLINS! :)
Yes!! Great shout!
Phil Collins is a legend. 🤩
@@MonkeyBusiness76 He could have been one of the best drummers of all time, but unfortunately he chose to sing pop songs instead of beeing a full-time drummer.
