    My father was one of the first soldiers to land on Gold Beach on D-Day. He was also one of the soldiers that liberated Burgen Belson

    I would like to see the camps one day from my own perspective also honour all of the poor victims who died in these horrible camps.

    Wow so powerful. I visited the camps with my wife and daughter and was so moved by the stories of what happened there. It was so surreal and peaceful (nobody spoke apart from our guide). I remember standing at the ash pit and there was two rabbi's lamenting a jewish song and everyone just standing listening silently it was so humbling to listen to. At the crematorium i remember walking through and then the tears rolled down my face and my wife gave me a comforting hand. It made me feel ashamed to have german blood running through my viens. Lets hope we don't see anything like this again ever. On a lighter note the salt mines are incredible.

      Hi Tony thank you for your kind words, I can't find words to describe being there and seeing the reality of such a hateful, demonic mindset.

      Thanks, I wanted to pay my respect by making a short film, there were moments in the camp when you could almost feel their sorrow... a holy place

    Tim & Mandy, a sobering reminder. 'We haven't learnt' - there is so much truth in Edith's words whether it be Cambodia or present day Syria.

    • @savedpurplecat
      @savedpurplecat  5 років тому

      Hi Gerry...Syria, exactly, a group of people who follow a book that encourages them to murder Jews and other so called infidels, we never learn. Our kids are growing up in an ever changing world, political correctness is becoming the new big brother, people are becoming frightened to speak out against all the current trends.

      It's scary that everything is immediate and 24 hour with social media, especially for young people. With so many competing interests trying to influence for good and bad - including big corporations who want to turn us into commodities to be bought, sold and controlled in terms of how we think and behave. There is definitely something powerful about standing up and speaking up about the things that are not right in the world.

      @@gerrymcveigh Great comments Gerry, I think the time is coming and probably now is when we need to take a stand, the agendas being pushed today in this nation make absolutely no sense at all, on the one hand there is an over emphasise on Islam in our Schools, colleges, Unis, Hospitals and prisons and on the other hand there ia an alarming push in the Schools to teach little children what was considered in our day gross sexual abuse! (Lgbtq) The crazy thing is that both of these mind sets that are being promoted hate each of in equal measures and will never agree! very strange times indeed.

    Phew, that was a very intense moving video. Very atmospheric too, intersperse with clips from films and documentaries. In fact just before the interview with the elderly lady, I’d said to my husband ‘If only we could learn by this. But I don’t think we ever will’. Both my husband and I found it very moving...

    Hard to watch, even harder to see it first hand, thank you for sharing this. Still hard to to think humans are capable of such evil things. How did they convince a nation that this was acceptable.
    Very moving to hear one of the victims say that she is still turning a blind eye to today's atrocities? As she says we are all wrapped up in our own little worlds. It doesn't give us much hope for the future? Steve.

    • @savedpurplecat
      @savedpurplecat  5 років тому +1

      Hi Steve, I thought her testimony at the end was chillingly genuine and if people like that can easily forget then what hope is there for us who have lived in a land of milk and honey practically all of our lives. I feel in my own life a sense that we have to start to stand for some of the values that our forefathers gave their lives for, it sickens me to see for in stance the agenda to teach small children things about sexuality that at that age they should not be exposed to alt all, this leftish nation of ours is slowly destroying ins self from the inside out.
