A little piece of Americana, the "Andy Griffith Show" tells you don't need fancy to enjoy the good life!! The simplicity is so desirable!!

This is now March 2024, I record and watch all the old Andy Griffith show to this day, I believe it keeps me grounded and reminds me of my grandparents home back in South Alabama!

I still watch The Andy Griffith show almost every day. Something about that old town feel & the proper way the women dressed with their white gloves (fashion?). And, of course, what a fabulous father Andy was being a single dad with Aunt Bee taking care of them both 💟

I have loved this show since I was a kid. Each summer I'd spend a week at my grandparents' farm out in rural Nebraska. Their little town reminded me so much of Mayberry, right down to the tiny grocery store.

I love how there was always an extra chair in the kitchen and dining rooms to accommodate any neighbors and friends who may drop in during meal times. Don't forget about the small back porch of the kitchen where Aunt Bee kept her "bargain meat" in the chest freezer that was breaking down. Wonderful video!🧡

What a great job. I've seen this show so many times and you recreated that environment perfectly. I've always loved the front porch on that house. Where Andy sat with his guitar, Aunt Bee did her sewing and Barney talked about going to the filling station to get a soda pop.

    • @MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane

Yes. We quote a scene from Andy and Barney on the porch a lot here at our house.

    Hello Marina, another great job.
The Andy Griffin house is one of my favorites because of the cozy ambiance. The kitchen did not offer a lot of counter space or cabinets like today’s world, yet the character was able to cook and bake. The rooms were sparsely furnished with only the necessities and yet it provided comfort when you walk in. In today’s world people have wall to wall cabinets and counter space and the majority of people don’t want to cook. Homes are overstuffed with pictures, sculptures, mirrors and various other home decor. Furniture although may look Pinterest pretty are hard and so uncomfortable. What attracted me to the show was the warm ambiance of conversations and meals that were shared. This only proves material stuff can not replace family and friends fellowship. Marina, are you a set or home designer?

The Andy Grifith show is one of my favorites!
The bonus scene at the end with Floyd (Allan Newsome did a great impersonation!) was great!

Well done! Me and my wife have been in a continuous season 1-5 loop on MeTV for years now.
Even though I grew up w/ re-runs in the 70's, the endless MeTV looping of seasons 1-5 have really burned into my head everything about those seasons!
The missing courthouse window by the heater & front entrance in season 1 is something I've specifically noticed.

Marina, I can't imagine how many hours these take--and that you're so willing to painstakingly create these detailed models and share them with us. What a treasure you're giving us! I have a question about the Taylor home, specifically the second floor. I'm wondering how they get upstairs since there's no staircase landing on the second floor. Do you have any thoughts about that? My guess is that the stairs would need to land somewhere in or near Opie's bedroom.

    • @MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane
      @MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane  2 роки тому +1

I had to cut out a lot of potential content, since this episode was already so long. I wanted to cover the stairs. They couldn't exist where they are shown for at least two reasons.
When you enter the home, as you'll remember, the wall with the closet and piano, has the stairwell going past the wall. But we see no bump out on the exterior. It is flat. But, even if the stairwell could be there, upstairs it would come out at the front of the house, instead of facing toward the back.
And even though that's where you'd end up facing, we were shown them arriving next to Andy's room when they came up the stairs, facing the opposite way -toward the back of the home. There's more, but to make a long story short - the upstairs layout we were shown on tv is mythical. 😔

@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Thanks for the speedy and thoughtful reply. I know that TV homes--especially the second floors--are completely oblivious to any reality. Mrs. Mendelbright was "the most faithful member of church" and was awarded a white Bible. She was hoodwinked by a stranger in town who was going to marry her for her money She had kicked Barney out of his room for cooking chili on a hot plate which was set on Mrs Mendelbright's mother's dresser which came all the way from Fort Lauderdale. Emergency was actually a real fire station in Carson, CA. Station 127. but I would love to see more so keep them coming.. and I love how you do each video.. and cannot wait to see what is next. now back to Mayberry, I remember as a small child we lived in a small town in central South Dakota, that actually had the same small town feel as Mayberry, where everyone knew everyone. and love to see times go back to much simpler times.
