If you need louder music then an amplifier makes a big difference. We tried new speakers and it sounded more of less the same. Then we fitted a 4 x 100 Watts amplifier and the sound was incredible! You might only have 2 channels in the truck so probably 2 x 50 watts would be plenty.
Are you a mechanic? Gas guage. Check the voltage using a cheap voltmeter. I'm guessing it should be between 2 values. The float arm in the fuel tank might be rusty too, and stuck. Just in case the fuel gauge isn't the problem.
Ended up checking the voltage from the sending unit, which was good. Figured it was a frayed wire or a bad gauge. Ended up putting in an aftermarket fuel gauge level and it worked.
