Great video although as far as the cost goes, MANY people will want to see the Tamron head to head with the Sigma 35 ART. How do you think they compare? Please take into account that the Sigma regularly drops to ~$599 on sales. Thanks!
@@TECH360TV Got it, that's helpful! How about the 1.4? That's what I currently own and I'm wondering if the "switch" to the Tamron would be a marked improvement.
Very interesting! In the past I’ve had trouble with getting sharp results from 3rd party lenses and never had issues with my nikkor lenses. Bought the docking stations for the sigmas and the results weren’t great after a lot time and effort. Did you have to fine tune the tamron or was it good to go out the box??!
I've had Tamron's previous 35mm f1.8 VC for over 2 years and have loved it. Didn't think Tamron could one-up themselves on that lens, but this looks very compelling.
Arguably the best review on this lens. You gave great IQ examples and you didn’t make the video about you reviewing the lens. Way too many photographers make reviews about them reviewing the lens never demonstrating IQ . Keep up the good work. Awesome Review!!!
Not trying to be politically correct here but both are good. The 35 1.2 is a fantastic lens that’s sharp at 1.2, great bokeh etc etc. However it is a heavy lens and for some that’s a deal breaker. The Tamron 1.4 is a great lens but not designed for mirrorless so you will need an adapter. It’s also a sharp lens with great rendering.
Tamron is a bit sharper wide open and noticeably better in the corners. Sigma has some colour fringing around its bokeh circles, while the Tamron has cleaner bokeh. The Tamron is heavier and bigger.
Good question. So far I feel the Sigma is sharper. I need to do more tests with the lens as I just got it but I’m very impressed. Anyways the Sigma is only for E mount and L mount that I know of while the Tamron is for Nikon and Canon.
"Anyways the Sigma is only for E mount and L mount that I know of while the Tamron is for Nikon and Canon" Must be a conspiracy here. Such shady collab.
Sigma is part of the L mount alliance with Leica and Panasonic so that makes sense, and E mount is very popular at the moment. I asked about Z and RF mount lenses, but so far Sigma still needs to do more engineering to make those mounts possible.
I’m looking at this Tamron 35mm or the Sigma Art 40mm . I shoot live music photography and videography. Really love the bokeh of the Tamron seems to me the Sigma has good soft bokeh but maybe not the dreamy dreamy look of the Tamron. If YOU were getting either one of these lenses which one and why ? I also shoot the d850 by the way. Which one has the most reliable auto focus on the Nikon ? With live music lens flare is a problem. Which one fairs best with the most contrast retention. Then which one has the most flare character? The most pleasing. Thanks sir , and I really like your reviews
TECH360.TV thanks. I’m debating on selling my canon 50 1.2 because this lens shoots such good portraits as well. Tamron really hit one out of the park with this fine piece of glass.
How much better is it than the Tamron F1.8? I really like the fact that the F1.8 has VC, but let's be honest, if the Tamron F1.4 had VC it might cost as much as the Nikon.
OMG..what a beautiful lens..Just found a 7 month old lens at a great camera store in India for INR 38500...around USD 520...WHAT SAY...FLAWLESS PIECE...even had the original sticker attached to it...worth a bargain?
I am a Nikon shooter of 20+ years and I have always sung the praises of OEM gear...until TAMRON started dropping their G2 line! I have their 35mmf/1.8 -2470mmf2.8-70200f2.8 all G2 and besides saving me a TON of money, the photos I come away with are top tier...and that’s on my D4S! That camera will call you out on your mistakes! I just wish that TAMRON would make a 28mm focal length, even if it’s just at f/1.8.
TECH360.TV Sadly I know that you are right...I will hold out to the very end though! I plan on picking up the D5 replacement IF Nikon doesn’t screw that up...IF they do (they better not) I will pick up the D850 and ride off into the sunset.
I expect good things from the next D camera. The Olympics are too important for the likes of Nikon, Canon, Sony and Fujifilm for all not to bring out some impressive tech
@@TECH360TV but isn't a Japanese name supposed to be read as the way it pronounced in Japan? Sure we do not read BMV as the Germans but think about vast majority of the brands.
Why pixel peeping all the time? The Tamon is better on paper but also very clinical. The Nikon is seems to be a better story teller because this lens has suddenly a character. I think lens technology and engineering has improved from so many different manufacturers they are all around similar levels. Nikon still makes some great lenses like the 500 5.6 PF lens and their Z mount lenses are great as well. It just depends though. Thanks for watching btw. Much appreciated
this was the video that made me buy this lens 3 months ago. it popped up on my home page again, wanted to leave a comment and thank. What a lens.

Great video, waiting for my tamron 35mm f1.4 !
Did you have any front-/ backfocusing? (5:06 looks a bit out of focus and the dog). Had 3 different lenses on my d850 and every lens had issues.
Honestly I don’t remember that issue. More times than not it’s the photographer at fault not the camera. I’m guilty of this as well :)
@@TECH360TV Ok thanks for the fast response. I tested the lenses in a controlled environment. I will try to adjust the focus with the tap in console.

Autofocus is just as fast as the Nikkor lens.

It’s a quiet lens so I didn’t come across any issues

I use Lightroom for the iPad. You can do most things with the mobile app though
did you have any problem with the AF (miss focus) tamron 35 1.4 ? My copy miss focus sometimes in low light situation
Not that I remember. Could be the camera as well.
Mine misses pretty often in low light...Been shooting at 2.8 more often. I'm going to have Tamron calibrate it for me so hopefully that helps.
Sometimes DSLR’s need to be calibrated with the lens to get optimal performance.
Will it work well with the nikon z6 and the adapter? Fast auto focus?
Haven’t tried but assuming yes, as the adapter works well
I've had it for two weeks now and it hasn't come off of my camera.
