      Getting taxed a bit over the pond, it’s still good at that price. Surfex HD by bilt hamber is an awesome all round cleaner, probably their best product.

    I love bilt hamber auto foam I'm shocked how expensive it is over the pond , for 5L it only cost £17 ($23) here in uk , we now also have bilt hamber touchless snowfoam which is £20 ($27) for 5L which is slighty stronger then the already amazing autofoam which is now my go to snowfoam and for my nilfisk 140 psi bar pressure washer that uses 500 litres per hour and I use 2% pir (panel impact ratio) 100ml product and 400ml water and this strength removes 90%
    Also another method that people are now doing is using about 16ml product in a normal spray bottle mixed with 784ml water (total 800ml) and it still removes similar amount which is great for using less product compared to snowfoaming , its works out for me about 5p (7cents) per wash compared to snowfoaming which works out 34p (47 cents) per wash
    I hardly ever do a contact wash maybe once every 3-4 months 😅

    I just bought a 5L jug for black Friday at $35. I've also seen many have similar results when simply adding the product to a spray bottle. This cuts the amount of product needed for the same PIR. You will only need 1.5oz to make 33oz of spray. And that's at the max recommended PIR. You can go down to 0.5oz if you wanted

    Have used Bilt Hamber for 2-3years and it's great. But we also have it cheaper in Europe. (Until UK left the Union)
    Use it correctly and after the manufacturers recommendations and it is great.
    I mix my Autofoam ⅙ with 2caps of Auto Glym polar blast just to boost the foam.
    Remember to mix with COLD water.
    when the car is protected it's enough for me to snowfoam and rinse, and a contact wash every 4th time ish.

    @markdavis9990 2 роки тому +4

    The problem is you’re paying import duty as it is UK product. You can pick it up for around £23 here in England. Although it’s a snow foam it’s not designed to create a thick white blanket. Therefore, I just use a 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 ratio. I know that creating a snow storm on your vehicle is an art form for some individuals but for me it’s simply about the products ability to thoroughly cleanse the bodywork. Solution: the UK and North America need a free trade agreement to bring down prices!

    I have it and love it as well and use it more when a car is more on the dirty side. Biggest issue is for their PIR you need to use more than you would use with other foaming wash soaps.
    I have the exact same thoughts. No need to worry about PIR. I Just use about 3-4oz and then add a touch of MegaFoam or Ultra Foam and I’m good to go.

    I use either 2% or 4% PIR depending on how dirty. With my pressure washer, that translates into 250 or 500 milliliters in a one liter bottle. BH Auto-Foam is the most effective pre-wash I’ve used.

    • @MirandaDetailing

      Yeah I get that. But I never do the math on dilution ratios like that. I just dilute 10:1 in my gallon jugs for quick filling of the foam cannon or just add 2-4 oz in a 32 bottle. Easy to figure out. If I want more foam I just add more.

    Pricey yes but coming from a guy who used to use 7$ Purple power vehicle and boat wash soap religiously I found this soap to knock dirt and grime out of the park on the first try Especially on first time customer vehicles . AS a weekend warrior I purchased this product a couple months ago when it became available in the US. Been using it on my IK foam 12 and i instantly fell in love with it. I prefer to start with a strong base to make the rest of the process a breeze.

    I’m U.K. based and we have BH a lot cheaper here, however I still don’t use it as it works out far to expensive. If you guys ever get Koch active foam, get it, 💯 best foam/shampoo I have used. It always amazes me how each of us can have different results using the same products, I'll blame it on the water, LOL. I tried Koch in December but decided BH was for me. I don't have to deal with road-salt as you guys do. I lived in Wiesbaden and Munchen for 10 years when I was in the USAF and remember how incredible the Germans were at keeping the autobahn clean, amazing. Now, I live in California and Arizona, so our issue is 6-10 months of sunshine without any measurable rainfall from March or April to Oct or Dec, which means the Hwy's don't get washed off by rainfall to remove the buildup of oil, dust, sand, dirt, rubber, and chemicals. Most of my folks are highway commuters, 2-4 hours a day and that's why I use BH.

    • @paulhamilton6013
      @paulhamilton6013 3 роки тому +1

      @@nicksdragon6929 which Koch did you use? GSF? If so try a drop of GS in it if you need it stronger, as far as I know you guys don’t have active foam yet.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 роки тому +1

      I have used that mixture of GSF and GS in the foam cannon and it’s a nice soap to clean further. But I always begin with my own prewash method as shown, for me it’s still faster and more efficient.

    • @nicksdragon6929
      @nicksdragon6929 3 роки тому +2

      @@paulhamilton6013 Thanks Paul, you're right, I used GSF, not with GS (APC) and I agree with your cocktail of the two. I use Bio-Clean where you use GS on dirty cars. Koch Chemie is very similar to P&S Pearl (an awesome slick soap that cleans well). All three are low sudsers which I like. Yet for me, BH cleans so well, I can skip the Contact wash on lightly soiled vehicles and on dirty cars, needing a contact wash, BH provides greater cleaning allowing me a less extensive contact wash. Price comparison, GSF/GS, 1 oz Snow, 1oz contact wash, 1 0z of GS, = $1.40/wash. Pearl 2 oz Snow, 2 oz contact, 1 oz Bio = .60 cents/wash, BH is $1.60/wash. $1.60 vs $1.40 vs. $.60, so as Phil says "Price is not really an issue, at $1 but time is expensive. In the end, I agree with Phil, it's a personal preference. The reality today is that there are so many great products and brands, that you can't go wrong. Paul, thank you again.

    Sheeting is more important to daily drivers of non-garaged cars for one reason. Their cars sit outside accumulating moisture, dew, raindrops, all beading up and drying out from being baked on the surface. With a sheeter product, there would be fewer beads to dry up. That is the sole reason why sheeters are more effective for our customers.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah I agree. It’s nice to have a sheeting product that makes drying easier! Beads are just visually pleasing. But then again I can

    Been using this for over a year now. Love how well it actually cleans while leaving any protection totally intact! I had to adjust how I used it...meaning I had been used to putting a good amount of foam on a vehicle (various products). With Auto Foam you just want to get enough on the vehicle to get the panels covered.. not layered foam so to speak ( less is more so to speak ). I only use about a 3rd on my 15 Jeep Cherokee when using an MTM cannon, and my Comet. I can usually squeeze about 3 washes per 1000 ml which increases its value for me.
    Lastly - you can pair Auto Foam with their APC (surfex hd) and use even less Auto Foam in the foam cannon. Just play with the dilution. I hate saying this but Surfex HD is the best APC I've ever used and it ain't even close.
    Thanks for the video!

    2% pir for a summer not so dirty car prewash. 4% pir for dirty cars. You can’t beat this snow foam for cleaning power. I find that 300-500ml is enough to prewash an average car. Here in the uk 🇬🇧 the price is £17.99 so a bit cheaper here in the uk 🇬🇧 than it is in the us it appears.

    Hi Phil, I have been using Bolt Hamber since Jon introduced it to me but quite honestly you are one of the very first detailers to say to hell with PIR ...and it’s my thought exactly. Putting 500mls in a 1L bottle and doing a pre wash with it is expensive....not as expensive as you quoted on Amazon. (26€ /5L here in Finland). As a mobile detailer, I use a TFR prewash on lower panels and then same method as you do. Works and is cheaper. Water consumption is a prime driver for me. I don’t have time to be rinsing so many times. Thanks for this good video!

    I buy Bilt Hamber's 5L, $32 at Clean Garage during sales, .20 cents/oz, so, I buy 2 or 3, free shipping and it's wonderful. Using your 1:1 ratio in a 16oz bottle is 8 oz water and 8oz product; that’s $1.60 a wash. I don’t use BH for pre-washes on cars that aren't very dirty. If they’re dirty enough to use an APC, then I use an alkaline shampoo, like BH or Obsessed Garage’s Decon at $1.60 per wash. Prewashes are 15-30 cents oz, or $1.20/ wash. I noticed your bottle had about at least three ounces left in it, so maybe it was only about 6-7 oz of product that was used.
    I like your method of washing a car that’s not very dirty with APC and a rinse, instead of a prewash, but I don’t see how it saves any time. Xtreme’s Bio-Clean, 3:1 in a 16 oz sprayer, $1.32. It takes 5 minutes to do a Snow foam and I would guess it isn’t any less to go all-around a car spraying APC and rinsing with the pressure washer. So, it’s like you said, it’s not really about money, it’s about what we’re used to doing and most people just don’t like using a 1:1 ratio, mentally they see it as throwing money down the drain. But when you do the math, it’s not much different.
    The same goes for Sheeting vs Beading. Brian at APEX now sells a "sheeter" product in concert with ArtDeShine and explains how the sheeting may look like it's not working because it doesn't bead in the way we’re used to seeing but that doesn’t mean it’s not working. Yet we've taught ourselves to believe through our panel tests using beading products, that when they stop beading, it’s failed. But hydrophilic chemical reactive products are just as protective as hydrophobic and are much better for preventing water spots than beaders are.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 роки тому

      I see what you’re saying. I’ve crunched all the numbers and have tried many different pre-wash and washing methods… And that’s why we’ve narrowed it down to the method we have now. It uses less water less chemical and it’s faster for us. However I think some people forget that there’s two of us working. I think that’s why it may work better for us. However even when I’m by myself detailing sometimes I still do the same method and it still works out to be faster and more efficient. I still use less chemical all around also. But again this is our method and it’s what works for us, It allows us to work very fast and efficient. I also understand that someone else’s “crunching of numbers” may be different than our “crunching of numbers”. That is why I also emphasize that people will develop their own methods and techniques that will make them faster and more efficient for their particular situation. Detailing does have its certain set of standards, but even those standards can be adjusted to suit the needs of any detailer. Thanks for sharing those numbers I’m sure that’ll definitely help a lot of people.😎👍🏼

    You use a lot less in a pump foamer or pump sprayer. It's very economical then because you can literally just use 4% and a regular sedan only needs 1 litre max in the foamer or sprayer so 40 ml of Auto Foam. At 4% you'd get 125 uses per 5L bottle and of course 250 uses if you're using 2% PIR in a pump container.

      hey Brian, when Bilt Hamber says 4%, they mean the PIR (panel impact ratio), which is very different than a 4% dilution. Why do they use PIR%...something almost no one's ever heard of? My guess is because most people would freak out if they knew how much product they had to use if they followed the directions lol. Phil did the correct math here...it comes out to about 16 oz of product in your snow lance. Also the 4%is for heavy first you really don't need more than 1-2% pir most of the time . Also you don't use much of the bottle to coat the car it's not like a thick foam you go over again and again, so ones you've spray a panel move on so you might use 1/4of the cannon bottle to do a large car at most, anything else your over applying this product. This prewash is the best, but you do have to use alot to get 4% PIR , with my kranzle and pf22 I gotta use 600ml to get 4% , Phil how do you think it compares to KC GSF????

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 роки тому +1

      Well I don't pre wash like this anyway...I use the KC GSF as a shampoo to contact wash. So i haven't compared them in that way. I really don't like to prewash with a snow foam, so I'll try it a few times just to test it, but as always I'll go back to my proven proven APC rinse prewash as we usually do. But it is fun to try different methods out to see what happens.

    Well said - my own car is graphene coated and well maintained. I foam it with Reset and really doesn't need a contact wash.

    Given that you had only done a trip between washes, and you had fresh LSP, a much weaker PIR level of 1%-2% would have been sufficient (3%-4% was enough on my car that had 3 months of winter dirt on it). I would still do a contact wash afterwards though. I think though you are missing the importance of PIR. It might be surplus to requirements when using ph neutral products, as you said you can adjust the level of foaming by adding more or less product to the flask, but PIR is important with this product as it contains powerful alkaline surfactants and too high a concentration could increase the risk of stripping off some/all of your LSP or, worse case scenario, damaging your clearcoat. As for pricing, here in the UK it's less than $23 (incl. taxes), so it's very cost effective compared to other snow-foams. This product will give you better (or at least the same) cleaning results when foaming onto a dry vehicle, so using less water than your pre-rinse/apc/rinse technique.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 роки тому +1

      Hi we have used Powerlock in the past and it is good stuff. It’s rare to see a daily driven vehicle that isn’t maintained well go 6 months with any sealant. But if the customer or we take care of it then it can last that long. I haven’t seen the Ultra version yet though.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 роки тому +1

      I wish local places would carry of the products and tools that Amazon offers. Then that would change the game. But unfortunately they don’t. 🤷🏻‍♂️. I only buy some things locally but I can’t find what I really want so I have to order things online. But I encourage Detailers to do what they need to do to get tools, products and so on. If they want to support local places that’s fine, but I let people choice for themselves where they want go for products.

    • @MirandaDetailing

      Are use a variety of shampoos and I find that it doesn’t really matter. What does matter is my prewash with my APC Rinse. That’s just our method it works for us, it’s fast and very efficient. I understand it may not work for everyone but it does for us so that’s why we stick with it. As far as shampoos soaps or prewash soaps it doesn’t make a difference to me so I can even use the cheapest ones and still get the same results with my washing. What I’m looking for is slickness in lots of foam. The reason I choose to have a high foaming shampoo is because the foam acts as a cushion. Not everyone agrees with that they think that foam is useless but I don’t agree, that is not what I have experienced. But then again it’s just my way of cleaning.
