We left real wealth in Jamaica as far as land, houses and self sufficiency to come here and get into debt and build the white man country. when we come here it's like we forget where we come from.

My name is Njerakey and I am from Chad. I have been living in America (Maryland and Ohio) for 12 years. Everything this brother says is true and I am a living example of that. After staying in America for almost 13 years, I finally realized the illusion of the American dream at the age of 27. I am leaving for Africa at the end of this month. I don’t care what they say about Africa. My education would at least serve Africa instead of being second class in this miserable place. Africa is the place to be.

SO GO AHEAD BROTHER CURSE ME OUT CALL ME NAMES THAT'S NOTHING NEW WE DON'T RESPECT ONE ANOTHER ANYWAY, WE FIGHT EACH TO DEFEND OTHERS, WE HAVE NO UNITY, WE RATHER HAVE UNITY WITH OTHERS, THAT'S THAT SLAVERY MENTAL ILLNESS WE WERE TAUGHT BY WILLIE LYNCH, NOTICE AN AFRICAN MAN WILL NEVER DISRESPECT HIS WOMAN OR ANY OTHER RACE OF MEN AS FOR US WE TREAT EACH OTHER LIKE ANIMALS AND TALK TO ONE OTHER LIKE DOGS...

This is an amazing video. I live in New York, and yesterday, I went to conduct business at the Bank. There, I met an Italian man in his 40's. He was depressed and very sad. I struck up a conversation with him.
He told me he's been living here in New York for 11 years now. He left Italy for the American dream. He told me, 11 years after he left Italy, he is still unable to save money. So, he was at the bank to close his account. He said he already packed his things and is leaving on Monday, back to Italy.
He also told me that he got an eviction notice, together with a lot of other tenants in his apartment building, and that was the final straw. There is no way out, other than moving back to his homeland. It was a sad story to listen to, and there are millions of others like him. Homelessness will skyrocket in the near future here in America. Africa is the future, and once all Africans in the diaspora move back(including myself), Africa will be unstoppable.

The problem is everyone overseas think New York is all there is in the U.S. The days of going to NY (or L.A. and Chicago) and making it big have been over for decades. I have known of African immigrants going instead to places like Houston (lots of Nigerians there), the Twin Cities, Des Moines, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Dallas, etc...places where you can get a good job with reasonable cost. They get educated and end up making 6-figures living in big homes and driving nice cars.

    • @itscomplicated...
      @itscomplicated... 4 роки тому +7

@@patrisio3, those places are definitely much cheaper than living in New York. Even many cities in Georgia are very cheap. You can get a mansion I'm those cities for what you will pay for a 1 bedroom apartment in NYC. But, I'm ready to give up all of them, even the cheaper states, so live in Africa.
I own a very good business here in New York, but Africa has been calling me for some time now. I think it's time to amswer that call, and forget the country that I'm not wanted in.

For someone with only a high school diploma it sounds like he was doing well. He's not going to discourage anyone from leaving Africa for abroad by saying how easy it was for him to get jobs. If he had enought money to build a six bed room home then he definitely had enough to return to Ghana if he truly wanted to. The healthcare issue is also a valid one. I have an older Nigerian co-worker who'se brother has health issues, but they want let him return to Nigeria because they know he won't get good treatment there.

I am going to be honest as someone who lived in the US all my life 26 years old, many immigrants especially from the motherland come here at a older age with no skills and if you did have a career back home you will have to start all over again. Their is no high paying job waiting for you here in America unless you are young and willing to go to
University and get a education or a skill trade. If you want to come here , come with a plan and a skillset you will get paid with. If you come here with no skills the best you will do is low-wage work. This the truth from a American, this is my warning to the disapora.

If you have skill set and highly educated, there’s LOTS of money here in America t9 be made. I’m a Nigerian but not proud to be a Nigerian because Nigeria has nothing to offer me and I have no future in NIGERIA. Thank God I became an American citizen with a skill set as a Physician Assistant making 200000$ a year at only 27. I’m a proud American.

As you have rightly said 'lived in America all your life', which automatically makes you have an American citizenship either by birth or a different way. A path was paved for you to have that 'privilege' that enables you to educate yourself and be in a better position. Our parents didn't have that opportunity, therefore their mindset was survival and once you're in that circle its hard to find that balance to re-educate yourself. We the millennial have a different mindset, where opportunities are endless. Therefore I find your comment a bit insensitive to say they don't add value. We need to paint the right picture for others back home that only see prosperity abroad, starting a new life abroad isn't always rosy, being illegal isn't something promote to either.

Guys, please be happy wherever you are. Stop chasing money. We all have to leave this earth one day. No one owns anything. Not even the queen of England. Every one of us is going to be evicted from the house, land, or apartment we own when we die. And guess what? We all have got to go. Therefore, if you live in a tiny closet in New York, try your best to be happy. If you live in the village in Africa, eat fufu and stew and be happy. If you live in a mansion, be happy, and if you live in the UK in your own home, enjoy your tea and biscuits and be be happy. Life is too short. That is the moral of the story. We spend too much time chasing money. Thus weforget to stop and smell the roses. We need to stay in our own country. Develop our country's infrastructure, economy, and build our lives and families.

My light bill is $300 my gas is about $200 soon I'll have a water bill. Oh but wait there's more you want to hear about my job? Only make $10 an hour. How can I afford all of this? There's a whole bunch of us sharing this apartment. That's right had to bring in family members to pitch in. We all have minimum wage jobs so you know..... Got live on top of of each other. My side hustle job makes just a bit more than my main one. That job is just to buy land and build in the motherland. If you come here be smart rent a room get a high paying job send money home. Any african countries that are still being exploited today with all the degrees of this world is by choice and sheer stupidity. We need to raise africans who are problem solver not table seekers. There is a need for a paradigm shift in the african mentality. Africans cannot even buy their own debt; but waiting for foreign countries to buy their own debt. The biggest problem of africa today is bankruptcy of ideas. The most frustrating thing about the people of color is that we know what is wrong ; we know what need to be done; but we simply fail to act on it.

What he is saying is 100 % true for those with a good job or business in Ghana. What is wrong is people selling their houses and businesses.
Now but for young folks without job and family, America is never a bad idea.
My classmate with a first class and a master's degree after 5 years of graduation couldn't land a job in Ghana. Lucky for her she won the green card lottery 2 years ago and the same person that was a laughing stock is now supporting families that laughed at her. She is now a candidate for a PhD degree to be a professor.
The mistake many people make as I have witnessed myself in US, our Ghanaian young ones majority don't like to go to college. Some of us who went were laughed at when we were struggling working and studying.
Ghanaian focus on working miniature jobs , 2 to 4 jobs and enjoy allowing their families home to milk them out, sending money every 2 weeks every paycheck. That will keep you broke in US and make others live luxury in Ghana. That's the bitter truth.
We are quick to go build a big house that we won't stay in over 20 years and yet won't invest in ourselves.
Many came with Green card by lottery or family, they have all the opportunities Ghana won't give you; can go to college without cash in your pocket unlike Ghana, you can improve yourself, but sad thing is many don't do it especially Ghanaian. We enjoy buying flashy cars and taking pictures for friends in Ghana.
Those of us that came with student visa without permit, hustled and focused are all doing well, some Doctors, lawyers, lecturers etc.
I'm a Ghanaian and the truth been told, it is painful to see people waste their lives here, work, drink, parties, womanizing, flashy cars and yet we want to make it ?
Check the Nigerian communities for example, very well educated with awesome jobs, the ivy league colleges have majority Nigerians than even African Americans.
The problem we have is priority. There are many deception and distractions in US but you got to focus and plan. If you have a plan you can go home successful.
Ghana is great, but very difficult if you don't have seed money for school, business etc.
Some came with BECE certificate but today are Wal-Mart Co-manager, pharmacist , Nurse Practitioners , Auditors in Pentagon.
So it is not a one sided story......it depends on you.
If you have a good job like some of my friends in the Gold mines and oil fields in Ghana taking 2000 USD monthly , don't come to America.
But if you don't have a job, and selling pure water, please come with a plan, you will improve yourself.

Born in Burundi, did first degree in Kenya at Africa Nazarene University then USIU for masters degree. Then dropped out of masters degree and went to New York City. I had to do a second degree then premed then med school in the US then now continuing med school in an MD school in Europe because there is large discrimination against black people in the US. I m hoping to complete med school and probably I will move back home to east africa! Racism is real in America! It's crazy!

I'm confused this brother completely contradict himself, he said no need to go to US and he regrets why he travelled to US but at the same time he admitted that he used to make a lot of money which again is the reason why he travelled to the US but he misused it buying unnecessary things when he could have built mansions in Africa so in this case it has less to do with America, but his own decisions making

This constant migration from the Caribbean and Africa ONLY HURT our family unit. Bonds are broken, years go by, people die, new births and we are disconnected chasing this dream. Then we become accustom to the way of life in America and become fearful of going back into a culture they have grown distant from. Quite SAD!!!

Africans and African-Americans we slow down on building businesses I think that’s one of the reasons why we are in this position but I do believe that it is turning around and getting better you must have the vision of a better African community throughout the diaspora. Because you can leave a business for your family but if you get hurt or pass away on the job they would just fill up that position and move on.

Black Americans have built businesses. Remember Tulsa and Rosewood, and there are many other successful Black communities that have been destroyed in other ways. Even today, the first coronavirus stimulus bill passed, but many Black business owners were not eligible, bc they were not banking with the right financial institutions.
This us not to say that Blacks cannot be successful business owners, but they make it more difficult for Blacks.
Systemic racism in the US has a domino effect because it is in every sector of our society.
