As an American, your sarcasm and dry humor is what I enjoy most. So glad you're on this side of the pond. lol Love having you!!!
I lived in England and married an English woman. I get your sarcasm. I love it!
@@davidsradioroom9678 I lived in England with my English husband - the humor was endlessly entertaining (once I ‘got it’)! 😂
I love the dry English wit. I get it. Maybe that's my watered down English heritage coming thru? But sometimes I think the sarcasm can be a bit mean spirited whether it's meant to be or not......probably not.
i lived
sarcasm always involves mockery. It is not funny. He does not use sarcasm as he mocks nobody
Your sarcasm, wit and dry sense of humour are why I watch. Thoroughly enjoy it!
Neil S I agree with you. Laurence is fab!
You spelled humor that weird way, of course you'd like like it.
Irony- I love it!
Your stumble up the steps to the Philadelphia Museum of Art gave me a good laugh. When I went to England on holiday, people asked me where I lived in America. When I said "Philadelphia" it baffled them. When I described that scene from Rocky as a reference, everyone understood.
You should have told them it’s where the divorce papers were drawn up.
I encountered the same thing in Latin America. Almost nobody had heard of Philadelphia. I developed a standard explanation, "A city of 1.5 million people midway between New York and Washington."
Then one day I checked into a hostel in Buenos Aires and the manager asked where in the United States I lived and I said, "Philadelphia." Before I had a chance to give my standard explanation, she replied, "Ah. The first capital." I said, "You really know your history." She seemed to think it was common knowledge.
why did you have to mention the museum steps scene in particular? Couldn't you have just said "You know the Rocky movies, like all 8 of them? That's where I live". Mentioning the steps in particular doesn't make sense, unless they were asking about the Philly Museum of Art
Jason Mistretta what are you talking about? I’m not even sure what what of my post you’re responding to. I seriously don’t follow your logic
Jason Mistretta my point, dumbass, was that there was no reason to point a specific scene from Rocky to make them recognize Philadelphia. The whole movie takes place in Philly (in fact the whole series), not just one scene. So why bother mentioning a specific scene, even if it was the most famous one? You don’t need to go “oh you know that one scene from Rocky where he’s training and running up those steps blah blah blah”. Instead of just saying “you know Rocky? There you go. That’s Philly”
As a fellow American by choice, I'm glad you have embraced our strange, wonderful nation.
We are strange aren't we
@@TheOnlyOneStanding8079, I wouldn't have it any other way. Who wants to be the same as everybody else?
@@TheOnlyOneStanding8079 I prefer the term "eccentric". It means much the same thing, but it sounds so much classier.
@@jonadabtheunsightly Its just a comment section not a scholar speaking at Oxford.. But yes eccentric it shall be appropriate
@@jonadabtheunsightly I tried the same trick. My ex-wife once informed me that I was not allowed to use the label "eccentric" because I wasn't sufficiently wealthy. I don't care, I'm using it anyway. :)
My Grandfather took the leap from Birmingham to the United States when he was 30 years old. I asked him why he left and he told me there was more opportunity in the United States compared to England. (This was in 1926.)
“ Opportunity” has been the American Dream. Your grandfather got it. Unfortunately, today, many, mistakenly have other expectations.
My Great Great Grandfather was born in Birmingham
My great grandfather left to down South for opportunities.
I'm glad you did. America needs all the good people it can get.
Kinda irrelevant question, but I certainly believe that he, and folks like him, are essential to the nation.
@Nicky L From what I've seen America doesn't want them either. 😒
To be honest from here it looks like a bit of a strange situation. There is a *waiting list* for Americans trying to relinquish their citizenship, significant barriers to non-American skilled workers and yet an apparent political desire for (some types of) economic refugees.
I'm glad you're here. It "kindles" the idea of America as a place where anyone can come and refresh the newness of the New World, build a new life and remind the rest of us second and third and fourth generations immigrants why we should appreciate it more.
"We have it in our power to begin the world over again." - Thomas Paine in "Common Sense" (1776)
And just think, he didn't have to kill the natives! (Sarcasm)
@@hanaaa6394 ya let's worry about the past like that. Do u hate Germany for the holecoust? Or just the us for the trail of tears?
@@hanaaa6394 Greatness right there!
@@Dean-oh4pi Both actually! The British Empire has a lot of blood on its hands as do the German Empire. I study a lot of history and yes, I am a German/English/Israeli Jewess. I thought that sarcasm was allowed for this program?
I like to visit Florida, and when I drive from Toronto and cross the bridge into the US, I feel a real sense of gratitude and warmth when I see the US flag. Looking forward to visiting again in November!
Thanks. When I travel to Canada I feel a sense of familiarity yet difference. I can't wait to get back.
With all the awfulness here in the US, thank you for still wanting to come here.
We’re glad you come to visit too. Every American I know loves Canada… it’s a thing down here. How can you not love Canada??🐝🤗❤️
Aw that's awesome
My maternal grandmother was born in Canada. She came to the US as a child. I've never been to Canada.
Your dry, deadpan since of humor is one of the things that made me continue watching your videos after I discovered the first one (well, first for me) a few weeks ago. Your channel is informative in the best kind of way because it is the perfect mix of information and entertainment. I hope you keep doing what you’re doing for a long time.
Definitely. I stumbled across the channel six or seven years ago, when he had less than a 1000 subscribers. It's probably my favorite channel.
I became addicted to Monte Python in college in the 1970s, and I've been hooked on British humor ever since. Keep up the great work!
And we’re happy to have you, Laurence. 🌻
I’m glad you do not regret being here. There is so much negativity happening right now . It’s nice to hear some positivity about our country.
You hit on something I think a lot of people wonder about - how many people back in England follow your videos? And what is their reaction? Glad you're here.
Several. I'm an American Anglophile and follow several You Tube Brits who mostly watch and react to US topics, and who even react to Laurence! Check out Mr H and Friends; Beesley; Lav Luka; Oblivious.
I have some friends in UK, I share these videos with them. 💗🇺🇸
While I enjoy everything about your videos, your sarcasm and sense of humor (humour?) are the main things that drew me in at the beginning and keep me watching to this day.
Americans are more brash in their sarcasm, while the Brits have a subtlety that gives theirs a finesse.
You're a likeable bloke, and you have built a comedic persona that is well-rooted in the real you.
Let's just be honest...We're a bunch of smart-asses. Wouldn't have it any other way either. And yeah, I too believe the Laurence we see IS Laurence...Wouldn't have that any other way either.
Thank you for your honesty. Naturally, it's a very large and complicated topic to discuss. Each country has so much good to offer.
I'm glad you are here in the USA. You're perspective is fascinating as well as you voice which reminds me of Simon Pegg. I think most American's like hearing British folk speak. For me, it brings back my memories of great story telling from Treasure Island, Rikki Tikki Tavi, Holmes, Mary Poppins, Harry Potter, Star Wars IV and even Barnabas Collins. Thank you for your content and channel!
Shout out to a fellow Barnabas Collins fan! Although I never thought of Barnabas as "English " per se...unless you are talking the Johnny Depp reboot, where he trots out his slightly softer version of Capt. Jack's addled accent.
WE'RE glad you're here! Hugs.
I love your sarcasm and sense of humor. I think we are blessed to have you here in America 🇺🇸 ❤
Hello glad you're here in America.
I have been friends with a person I worked with for over 25 years.. we became besties, even though our lives changed. She changed jobs and I retired. Well, she came to visit last week and we discovered that we have YOU in common... we talked about you and your videos and laughed the afternoon away over lunch. We enjoy your sarcasm too!! Great job...
Hello Laurence. So happy you joined us!:-) 🖖
I am so glad you are here, you make me smile. Hi Tarah ❤️
I moved to the US back in 2016 and I agree with everything you said Lawrence. It really is like a second life, very beautifully put! My quality of life far surpasses what I had in the UK, but I love that I grew up and was schooled there. It has made me a very grounded and humble person. Thank you for being you! X
We’re very pleased to have you here. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
What a nice, heartwarming video to round out my evening. Thanks, bud!
We’re glad you’re here and share with us
Amen
Your acerbic sense of humor is what keeps me listening to your videos. It is similar to my own.
Hello Laurence.
Love your humour. I can listen to you and remember being surrounded by Brits in England. I'm hoping to go again when covid calms down.
I'm so happy I found your channel, during the pandemic by the way. I was a bit of an Anglophile when younger and always assumed I'd visit Great Britain some day. I doubt it will happen now but I love watching your experience. I'm an Indiana/Ohio/Illinois girl myself. Thanks for your humor and acceptance.
I'm certainly glad you came here because I love your videos! I just hope what this country has become in recent years doesn't make you regret that you're here eventually.
I love your sarcasm. I almost exclusively watch British programs, a habit I acquired from my Mother. I’m going to England for the first time in a few months, and I’m so excited 🤗
Awesome! Hope you enjoy your visit. Don’t think London is the whole country there is lots of provincial counties you should go to
I absolutely love your sense of humor 😄😄😄
I love your wit and sarcasm. It what separates you from the other channels.
Happy you came to join us in America. Love your humor and have learned a lot from your compare and contrast format.
The last time I was this early American school children still pledged their allegiance to King George
🤣🤣🤣🤣
And before ya know it, American School children will pledge their allegiance to Chairman FauXi at the rate we're going.
If and when that happens, I'm sure I'll enjoy watching the YT channel Lost in the Greater East China Sea
Hello in the comments below! 👋🏽 Sorry, couldn’t resist, or maybe I just didn’t want to.☺️ I’m fairly new to your channel and absolutely love your humor and content. I’m an American who’s been living in Canada for the past 39yrs. I always look forward to your videos. Take care.
We’re thrilled to have you here, Laurence! 😊👍
Well, we sure as Hell don’t regret your having come here! You are most welcome. ❤️💙🇺🇸🇬🇧❤️💙🇺🇸🇬🇧
Hello! Always fun to hear from you!
Great video, happy to have you here and best of luck to you here in America. It's a great place, live , love , and enjoy it.
As long we avoid bad people
Hello! I’m from the US and I get and appreciate your sarcasm. I Always enjoy your videos, thanks for making them!
Waving at you there in Chicago, tucked in here in SW Ohio as I am. Hello and Good Night too.
The mother of one of my childhood best friends growing up is from England; I realize that I never asked her a lot about it, because I just took it for granted. She moved to the US for personal religious motivations. Don't think she ever really "regretted" it, per se, but of course you're going to miss things from your place of origin.
Heck, when I lived in Colombia, I missed a lot of American food. When I moved back to the US, I started missing a lot of Colombian food.
Just love your sense of humor and enjoy your channel thanks
You are experiencing the best of both worlds in that you were born and grew up in the UK and now you're having a new life here in the states! I'm happy for you! I know that there are times you miss your home land but I'm sure you do hear from your family back home and your in laws, neighbors, and friends are supporting you and giving you love!!
Hello from New Jersey. Glad to have you here in the States. Keep up the good work.
Hello, love your wit and comedy as a life long Coloradoan, happy to have you here my cousin from across the pond
I love your channel! You and your wife are awesome! You help look at things with a different perspective about America. It can be quite refreshing to see different perspectives.
Hello Laurence! I am glad you are in America. 😊
Hi....What? :D As someone, somewhere in these States, glad you're here! I always enjoy your videos.
I absolutely love your channel. Your honesty and humour are what draws me to watching it each every time I get notified of a new video. Being yourself and giving thoughtful insight about everyday living in a America vs England is quite refreshing. Thank you for sharing & caring! 🌻🌎
I'm from Yorkshire, an American friend told me about you. Have been loving your videos ever since. Thank you
We are extremely glad you are here. We love you Laurence. And I personally appreciate the hell out of your dry wit. British humor is always enjoyable to me.
As an American who gets British sarcasm at least most of it I think that's one thing I love about your videos. It's like you can't say one sentence without the sarcasm!
👋 Hi, Laurence! We’re glad to have taken you in 🤗💐
Happy to have you here and enjoy your witty humor!!
I have been a fan of you since your subs were about 40k. And, your videos are the only ones I stay through to the end to listen to your beautiful music. 🎶🎶🎵
I love the sarcastic comments and inflection almost always accompanied by the shifty eye movements. Your humor is great! Thank you for all of the content!
Your dry sense of humor is why I subscribed so keep at it. I would like to know how your wife and you met and the history of your relationship.
I think part of what makes one an American is a certain mindset. Some people are just born with it, coming from all over the globe, and it causes them to seek out this country. In many ways you are more American than some who were born here. We are not perfect, but we are truly blessed as a nation, and so many do not realize that.
So glad you are here, with your lovely wife,, and that you share your experiences. ❤️
Glad you're here, and very glad indeed to have found your channel. Cheers!
You go, Lawrence! Be proud. We like you and I'm glad you are here. Keep going. There's more to do yet.
We're so glad to have you here Lawrence! Your videos are a joy to watch and very inspiring!
Ur sarcasm & humor as u relate ur unique perspective on all things American is why I like ur videos, bro💕 Glad ur here!
You add to our "flavor" and we're glad you're here! :-)
I for one enjoy your sarcasm Lawerence I find you to be a rather affable person from what I can gather in these videos. Glad to have you in our country sir and wish you many happy years here.
I LOVE your sense of humor! Keep it up.
You are Such a lovely person, we are SO lucky to have you here 💛🙏
Looks like a lot of people are glad you're here. I am, too.
Just recently found your channel. Love the content and you aren't so bad either. You deserve to have your youtube channel numbers rack up. Great stuff mate! :^)
Laurence, glad you are here and from what I have seen, been enjoying and growing in the experience.
waiting on tenterhooks {hey there's a great word for ya} after a hospital stay to see my bill. so glad you're here, laurence
Laurence Brown hello from the state capital, we are under a Tornado Watch until 1A.M. Monday 10/25/21. Earlier we had A Extreme and Imminent Tornado Warning in which we were advised to seek immediate shelter. It expired at 7:15 P.M. and was uneventful in our sector. I am glad you are happy and content here, it would be terrible to move so far and then discover it made you unhappy, so depressing. Personally I really enjoy your accent, and I love when you share information about how the systems work in the U.K. i.e. like education, jobs, healthcare, socializing. It is fun learning about other peoples experiences, so thank you for sharing.
LOVE your humor and your channel. I think I've been watching you about 4 years and have loved seeing you and your channel grow. So now, the Lost in the Pond community is the size of the population of St Louis!
We’re happy to have you here !! From what I have heard on your videos, I find you hilarious, and I love your sarcasm ! I used to live in Chicago. Moved to Arizona to get away from the cold and snow. Ok shut up … it’s a dry heat 😎

I have always liked this channel. You have many times brightened up my day. You have pointed out things that we have gotten used to over the many years that we have lived here, because it is new and different to you. So keep on making your videos, until you run out of 'memos' 😀
I’ve been on leave from work due to a medical issue. I’ve come across your channel and watch all your videos. Your dry wit is great. Congrats on your citizenship btw
Love your sense of sarcasm. So glad i found your videos. They always put a smile on my face.
You make me smile thank you for being here!
Hello!
I hear a lot of David Mitchell in your voice/delivery, which is endearing. Thanks for thinking highly enough of us to give it a shot in the first place!
I think James Bond. Monte python & benny hill show opened America up to British sense of humor. Damn I haven’t even thought of the Benny hill show in over 30 yrs. and I’m only in my 40’s. Time flys.
Your dry humor is awesome. Blunt jokes like yours are truly funny. O and I'm glad you feel comfortable in your own skin. Always be yourself.
Last time I was this early, it was still "only two weeks to flatten muh curve"
We have gladly adopted you. You have been a great addition to our country. I very much appreciate your videos.
I LOVE your outro music. Always such a welcome tune after a great video
Love your U-Tube channel. Since of humor is definitely one of a kind. Your wife's since of style is very unique. Enjoy you, and your wife very much. Keep the video's coming. All the best...Thank You
'ello! I have a friend who's mum is from England. I loved hanging out at their house. And she was friends with my former neighbor, who was also from England. When we were teens, one summer her mum's family all came here for a visit. It was a fabulous time! I love your humor. British comedy is the best. No comedies in America have driven me to tears of laughter and nearly passing out from trying to catch my breath.
I get you just fine. And you're hilarious! I love it and since I can't get to Britain I get to your channel.😉 Thanks you two🎃👩🎤🇬🇧🇺🇸
Good on you! Glad to have your dry wit & humor here, God knows we need it...
HELLO LAWRENCE.🤗🤗🤗...have a fabulous week
Hello! I'm glad you're here making videos that have expanded my world view.
I love, love your sarcasm!
I love your sarcasm. It's not a nasty, belittling sort of sarcasm, but a funny, uplifting one. It just makes me smile, maybe because I have the same sense of sarcastic humor much of the time. I'm an old lady who was born, raised and still live in small-town west Texas, so it apparently makes no difference where a person is from that determines how we see the world. I also love your accent, please don't let it disolve completely!
I feel very much the same way here. While I do miss Scotland, I don't regret the move, or my American bride. I could certainly have done without COVID, but that would have been the same anywhere I've been. I miss travel and family, friends and the old familiar, but I don't regret my nearly 10 years in America and don't believe I ever shall.
Hello! I love your sarcasm and humor! I enjoy the chuckles you deliver!
I moved from southern New England to a state down south in the middle of the Bible belt. In a place known for it's sarcasm I was often referred to as; "Mr. Sarcasm". I had to dial it WAY back down south as almost no one understood me. For example; Me stepping outside into a raging thunderstorm-"Nice weather, huh?". Random southerner; " Yeah it's great, my tomato plants were almost dried up.". See what I mean? So, it's not just you. America is so big there is diverse culture everywhere. Love your channel.
