I own one of these bikes (Framed Minnesota 1.0) and I love it. I think you probably had too much air pressure in the tires. I run about 7 psi front and around 10 psi rear. All kinds of grip.

This was my first ride with a fat bike, I'll have to try that pressure scheme next time, thanks.

I have a Framed 1.0 and 3.0 and they are great bikes for all seasons. In my three years riding them in all conditions I can assure you that it all comes down to tire pressure. In snow or heavy rocks, 8 to 10 pounds pressure. Air down bro......air down. CHEERS.................G

Yes tire pressure is important, as i am finding out, thanks for commenting.

Do you see a big difference between the Framed 1.0 and 3.0?

You took that spill like a champ!!! Nice. I've been wanting a fat bike for a while now. Found one of these new today for $500. I jumped all over it.

    A good, honest review. Thanks!
Fat bikes tend to be over hyped by manufacturers..... giving one the illusion you can ride through any snow depth. Once you put the hype aside they can be a fun ride both on sand and snow. (primary on snow packed trails) Also with suspension fat bikes can be a four season bike. And yes tire pressure is critical depending on the terrain. A tubeless set-up is certainly advantageous for dealing with proper tire pressure. Also I don't buy into the "bigger is better" theory. I run 3.8" wide tires and find them satisfactory for all types of terrain and conditions. A wider tire is much heavier and the front wheel tends to 'self-steer' at lower pressures. A lighter fat bike is a funner fat bike.

RIDING THE FAT ONE IN WISCONSIN IN THE WINTER
I actually didn't have to spend a lot to get to ride the Fat One......Just had to first stop by the small Mom & Pop Family Pizzeria down the road to pick up a pie and a couple of calzones and then passed by the convenience store to get some Beer, some Mad Dog and a Pint of Ice Cream....Let me tell you the delight of riding those wide and fluffy tires covered in white while keeping warm to the point of sweating, I went on for hours!....I mean a fairly new model with beautiful colors, trying it out in the Dead of Winter, like made for me at this time, it doesn't get any better than this! The extra weight provided some traction, more so in this colder and slippery-like icy situation. It was a Heavy Duty responsive type of frame. There was some creaking and whiny-like noises, more so every time I cranked that shit up after crashing my body down on it, which was for true for most of the ride. Almost went full Jacques Cousteau Diving on that shaggy brush-and-mound-covered lake because this beast of a machine was leading me to it due to the dire conditions, it was almost on top of me instead of me being on top of it. I grabbed on those handles real hard for dear life, I did not want to fall. It really felt like a glazed donut sliding down; but I had finished into what we call a Wisconsin Snowplow where I cum from, which I discovered came complete with a piece of accidental turd sticking between the thick, white tires. It was an accident which has traumatized me for many years every time I ride a Fat One in the Winter: When I finished, I went to turn to sleep right away, but she was already snoring very loudly with a slice of pizza in her hand and her chihuahua was munching on the turd she 'popped' when she came. Her jelly-like mounds had stopped moving and everything was back to the Dead of Winter, but I knew Spring was coming.....Though not soon enough.
    THE END

Still doing any fat biking these days? Did you end up purchasing the framed fat bike? I'm considering getting one as they are good bang for buck.

Your on the 4.0 tires the 4.8 tires are better for those conditions with less air pressure they even have studded tires for winter on the ice

    • @alcopower5710
      @alcopower5710 5 років тому

Will the 4.8s fit on this bike? Looking to possibly get into fat bikes (this one in particular) and want the best bang for the buck and can't afford anything like a Mukluk

@@alcopower5710 -- No: 4" are about the max to the point Framed took the 2x off the 2.0 and switched to a 1x on the latest iteration of the Minnesota. Read reviews, but people putting better tires like the 45NRTH D4 on there with the 2x and you don't want to be in the high gear up front and low in rear or it will rub.

Awesome video! I'm gonna pick up a 2017, great condition for 500. I'm gonna see if I can get the owner to come down a bit.
    Thanks!

Yeah, quad tracks suck. I had to ride through them the first snow we had, really hated them. If your bike keeps sliding on those things, there's a miracle cure called surly bud&lou. The edges bite and pull you back on the track but they're slow off the track, of course.

They don't have low enough gears for oncoming quick hills. Needs 2 sprockets in front or you get stuck everytime.

She was there to murder the Dog that got in the way off the bicycle he was trying out last year on the driveway and which is the reason she lives alone (except for that 'damn barking dog') since Grandps is bedridden at a Nursing Home, receiving palliative care.
