    All year long, baby, all year long🤘💥💪. Every day basically on fatbike. I even started a trend in my little town by first showing up on a alu fatbike, that went bad... to now, owning Trek Farley 9.6 2024. And over some years, it has been over 15 bikes on streets. People first were 👍 or totally👎. But I quess it is just a love@ first pedal stroke. Once you ride, you fall in and from there it is just world of wobders. So so so much fun with this bike just crazy🤘🥳.

    I got a Specialized fatboy from 2017? It’s not so heavy, drives like a oiltanker. But it’s fun and easy to push up hills and through snow/sand.

    I have the Salsa Beargrease C XT. Absolutely love this bike for riding groomed snow. It’s fast and lighter than my trail bike also surprisingly nimble.

    Can't wait for my Surly Moonlander 2.0 to get delivered this week. A fatty in it's own that blows every other fatbike off the charts. It's literally a mini monster truck.

    My biggest problem with the fatbike industry is that not enough brands make a full suspension fatbike. They dont put any money into the engineering of fatbikes so most of them in my opinion look extremely ordinary. I ended up going to the chinese market and got myself an ICAN SN04. Sick fs carbon fatbike.

      Nothing good right now Imo.
      I saw a prototype by Nicolai from years ago, but it never went anywhere. It had old school geo. But if they made a modern fat bike I'm sure it would be great. They have a hardtail, but that too had old school geo. while their other bikes have modern geo. But they offer tailored frames, so they can make one in any geometry, size, as logn as it's feasable.
      I saw Salsa had full suspension fat bikes before, Salsa Bucksaw. There are some other brands. Foes used to have one.
      Current full suspension fat bikes:
      Maxx fatbikes it's a german brand, but I see they only do full suspension E bike fat bikes, but regular ones, they do regular bikes too.
      Lenz Sports, weird geo, frame design, kinked seat tube, so limited dropper post insertion depth. I'm skeptic about the suspension pivots.
      46peaks has full sus fat bikes, but old school geo, absurdly slack seat tube angle, and short reach.

      I think the demand is pretty low because a vast majority of users are riding mellow single track or groomed fat bike trails, both of which would favor a light and efficient bike over one with extra capability in technical terrain. But I agree, it’s surprising that at least someone doesn’t make one!

    I ride fat bikes full time now having switched over from my 29er. The fat tires in any of the configurations provide superior traction and rollover capability in the Arizona desert. Mine are set up leaning toward XC styling and all weigh around 30 lbs or less. Having ridden regular mountain bikes for 25 years plus years I can say that I will never go back to the skinny tires.

    I'm seriously considering ordering a Fezzari Explorer Peak when they are Released early 2024. What does 99 Spokes think of the spec of that Pedal Assist eFatbike?

    • @99spokes
      @99spokes  8 місяців тому +1

      Nice, that would be awesome! I think the spec on that comp build looks great! Those TRP Slate EVO brakes are relatively powerful, which is important for a heavy bike like the Explorer Peak, and the Cues 11 speed drivetrain drivetrain should be money as well!

    Is there a reason most fat bikes don’t have suspension?

    • @99spokes
      @99spokes  9 місяців тому +1

      Thank you, and good question! There’s a few reasons, but the biggest is that most people are riding fat bikes on sand or snow, so there’s naturally much smoother terrain. Also to keep the already heavy bikes a bit lighter and because the high volume tires do a good job a absorbing small impacts

  • @mtbboy1993

    Ironically in Norway nobody sells modern fat bikes. all have old school geometry. Saw only one rocky mountain second hand but was wrong size, it was an older model. But VPG/Rock Mountain Norway don't import the bikes. But the geo sure looks decent. It was the closest to Pole Taiga with 63 deg fat bike and my G1 with 62.5 deg enduro bike.
    So my options are get custom built frame from a frame builder somewhere, or buy a bike from an international store.
    The salsa seem to be common in Norway, but as you mentioned steep head tube angle so not for me. My daily driver is a Geometron G1. So Pole Taiga looked nice, but Pole no longer makes this bike. Maybe I should get a tailored Nicolai as I already have a frame by Nicolai and the quality is superb.
    Most common fat bikes seem White and older Nakamura bikes( catalogue bikes from Asia rebranded, but prototyped in Norway) but geo is not good, and cheaper models have junk parts.

    • @99spokes
      @99spokes  8 місяців тому +1

      Interesting, that’s surprising to hear! That Pole Taiga was such a sweet bike, too bad it’s not around anymore! Another thing to consider would be going with the Salsa and using one of many geo-adjusting headsets to slacken it out a degree or two

    This video and your website in general has too much focus on the traditional brands/enthusiast market.
    The vast majority of fat bikes are used as transport and utility vehicles on paved roads in big cities. As an alternative to car, truck and motorcycle.

    • @99spokes
      @99spokes  16 днів тому

    Okay. You're marketing Salsa. A bike company from a Jewish-hating state(Minnesota). You've got an e-bike...why? e-fat rigs are heavy. Very heavy. And on snow trails(ungroomed), in the Adirondacks, the e-fat bike, just sinks. And the resistance from the snow(and cold), really drains the battery fast. you're showing the most common brands but not the best rigs. Where's Wyatt, Moose, Devinci, Panorama?

    • @99spokes
      @99spokes  9 місяців тому +2
