Just because you beat the shit out of it before really testing it, and on the wrong setup anyway, doesn't make it a weak sub. Its a decent little 6 inch home surround sub, do the same to any speaker and it'll sound like it sucks.
The Sony SS-WS95 on the right are not a bad little sub. they respectively get down to 40HZ. If they remain a rooms corner with a pair of alternate satellite speaker to cover the 100hz-20khz range, the aren't bad at all. The key with these subs is matching them with a low wattage amp with a wide range. I used the SS-W95 on a compact Optimus STA-300 Digital Synthesized AM/FM Stereo Receiver that only put out 15 watts per channel but had the range output of 40h-20khz of which I found on a curbside in my neighborhood, that someone just threw out. I paired it with two Focal Sib-T 5" Polyflex Cone 100V 2-Way Speaker, 50W, Single that I actually found at a second hand thrift store for like $6.00 !!!, They work very nicely with a range from 100HZ-20kHZ My laptop takes care of the Equilization with a general windows program through the windows media player. All in all a super cheap setup, that sounds decent, as long as your not looking to blast music to the limits.
I used to have that all black one and it lasted at least 2-3 years before I got my klipsch system but that thang was a warrior it took as much I threw at it
A speaker moves just as much in as it moves out, no matter the polarity. For example, a sine wave has both a negative and positive amplitude, with the middle being neutral. So when a speaker is out of phase, the positive amplitude makes it pulling in, and the negative pushes it out. And when the amplitude is zero then the speaker is in its neutral position of course :-)

you can smell the glue first when the coil heats up and the smoke shows can really stink. not only the electrical smell but also a mix of burnt plastic and paper most the time, old ones burning off dust is nasty

In some of your videos you should bust off the bottom of the magnet so you can get a better smoke show I don't know if that works or not but worth a shot

my s9+ picks up really good bass in videos.
I have S9+ too, but I prefer mics that distort when overloaded. The S9+ has a limiter and no way to turn it off
