One of the best Gyllenhaal's characters. I love how they developed him with the course of the story till the end when I first watched the film. One of the best movies of the year and thrillers ever written
One of the best movies ever made! All around great acting. My heart was racing during the car race to the hospital with the little girl. Amazing story and directing.
The best thing about this character is how hard he is to read and the ambiguous behind. Your left so much to interpret from just the way he talks, walks, acts, conveys his mannerisms etc. Every time this character is on screen your completely and totally drawn to him. Gyllenhaal literally took zero prisoners with this one.
One of, if not the greatest movie of all time. This edit summed up the great story and struggle of Detective Loki - an amazingly constructed character played by a very talented actor. Your best video yet!
This movie became one of my most favorite movies of all time. It felt so heavy to watch this film, I had to pause occasionally to take in what's going on. The scene where Detective Loki is rushing to the hospital to save the girl who was injected with drugs had me incredibly stressed, I never felt so much pressure from watching a movie in my life. The cliffhanger of an ending was also spectacular. Whether the dad is rescued or abandoned is up to interpretation, but in the end he there's no good outcome for him. If he's rescued, he'll still go to jail, if we wasn't found, he'll die without closure not knowing if his daughter was alive and safe or not. Amazing film, I love it so much.
The film has a happy end, they shot a scene where Jake saves Hugh in the end but somehow the director decided to cut this part, I think for more mystery.
Very nice! You forgot to show one more thing Detective Loki did...heard that whistle which implies he also saved the father from bleeding and freezing to death in that hole. Very clear and amazing editing well done.
The way he acted was like the rest of the mature kidnapped children, like he had escaped too but became a good man and sane unlike the one with the snakes.
Dude that was just wow Denis’s filmmaking style is so relevant and and different from anyone else’s you can just tell it’s him in the first 10 minutes of any of his films Just like how you can tell it’s a Ridley Scott film or a Nolan film or a James Cameron film This is one of my personal favorites of his and yet it’s very underrated and I personally think it’s some of Jakes and Hughs best acting................. Well done my friend Well done
The Editing is Awesome! Prisoners (2013) is a Great Film. One of the Best Investigation Film. The Editing explore Brilliantly what makes Detective Loki One of the Best Detective in Cinema and A Hero in his Determination to solve this investigation and save the day. A character Brilliantly performed by Jake Gyllenhaal. One of his Best Performance.
Very nice man Enjoyed you showing him doing all this detective work instead of some emotional type of edit, and showing him piecing things togethwr. And using the music from the film was a nice touch
Great movie, great character. Symbolisms are very important in the story developening, if you pay atention, Loki wears a ring whit a square and compass just, like the freemason´s usage
Thank you for this edit! Prisoners is in ny top 5 movies of all time... From Acting to cinematogrophy, music, plot and deni's directing...just brilliant The reason that I love detective loki is that you can see it in him that he's fighting alot of inner demons than he's ever fought in real life and that he overcome them by helping others...fantastic performance by jake gyllenhaal
Excellent editing and summer of this astutely played character by Jake. This is one of the few videos that I didn't hate the music the youtube editor put behind the video. Well done.
Jackman rocked in this, too. Let's not forget. I don't know what his process was for this, but it really does look like he deprived himself of sleep throughout the shoot, just to get in character.
The complexity of Loki’s character in this movie always seemingly being one step behind and his ineptitude portrayed in in this edit is very well done. But top comment is “Jake my fav :)”
But his being "one step behind" as you put it, has to do with his Captain not giving him certain things (I don't want to give spoilers here), and also has to do with the father of Ana (one of the missing girls) lying to almost everyone and doing secretive things. Loki wasn't inept. He was brilliant at his job, but this was just a really complicated situation. It made me feel compassion for the detective's struggle. Jake makes his characters seem like real people. He completely disappears into the role.
I think calling him inept is kinda ridiculous when our introduction to him is that he's solved every case he's had. This is like a common sentiment with detective movies but I never get it. The point of this movie is that this case pushes him unlike any other
Thank you! So glad that you’ve enjoyed it that much, it’s not my best work and I’ve learnt since but I’m so happy people enjoyed it, thanks for the support ❤️
I've seen this film twice over the years. I've forgotten most of it except for a select few scenes. I do recall how uncomfortable some of it was though, especially the scenes where Hugh Jackman is losing his shit.
even tho he has a good case record he cant give the parents false promises and say that he'll find them. instead he dodges the question and says "im gonna do everything i can"
I found that movie to be too slow for my taste, it really is amazing especially the cinematography, i liked it mostly for it's philosophy and story, can't say the movie kept me hooked tho, it got really boring at some points because there is just so much pause between dialogues, loved it for what it is tho.
Spoiler :Jake saves Hugh Jackman in the end, but the director decided to "cut" the end , he left it in our imagination to understand what happens. I'm glad it had a happy end. That means both Hugh and Jake win in the end.
Even with such a great man after those girls, too much of what happened here came down to chance, as it doesn’t in real life. Perfectly summarized by the bullet grazing Loki’s head at the end of the movie; a milimetre of extra adjustment on the part of the killer and he would have been dead. It’s almost like, sometimes, fate wills that good succeed against all odds.
Detective Loki is probably my favorite character of all time
He's such an interesting character that should have a true detective series alone.
@@JoseFigueroa-b4k Literally my first thought when it ended was "Detective Loki's a bad@ss and could have his own series"
Jake Gyllenhaal is phenomenal in this movie, as he is in everything I've ever seen him in
Incredibly versatile. One of the finest actors.
My fav character
Mine too
Rustin Cohle on true detective S1 is first. This character is my second best

Such a fascinating character. I'd like Jake to play Det. Loki again in another movie..

Your best video yet!
Thank you mate, glad you enjoyed it!
Det. Loki is such a fascinating character. I'd really like Jake to portray him again in another movie.
I cried at the end of this movie, the long drive he had to the hospital with the bullet in his head really just drove it home for me.
This is very nice, loved what you did there for that character, well done brother!
Thank you bro! ☺️
One of the best characters of all time. Dude is such a badass
Jake is fantastic in this movie.

Great review :)
The film has a happy end, they shot a scene where Jake saves Hugh in the end but somehow the director decided to cut this part, I think for more mystery.
Why would Loki NOT rescue him?
Yeah the ending isn't ambiguous. Watch again and see Loki's look of realization. It was an artistic choice, not a cliffhanger.
he heard the whistle.. that look on his face is an expression of discovery. The man is a good detective after all 😉
Very nice! You forgot to show one more thing Detective Loki did...heard that whistle which implies he also saved the father from bleeding and freezing to death in that hole. Very clear and amazing editing well done.
Hey, thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I avoided ending on that one as most edits I'd seen on this film ended the same way
I liked the ending for leaving things open ended...whether or not Loki saved him was left up to the viewer.
@@hughiedgar7574he did find him
@GetBack Gang I know he found him, but it's open ended as to if he left him to his fate or not.
The self reflective smile at the end was perfect. Well done, I was looking for something like this. Great character and great journey.
The way he acted was like the rest of the mature kidnapped children, like he had escaped too but became a good man and sane unlike the one with the snakes.
Exactly 💯
Greatest of cinema ❤
This movie has to be watched. So great! And so unpredictable.
Intense, underrated, awesome actor performances all over .....! Greez from Germany !
