The NM sketch didn't get him into trouble until 2020, 12 years after it aired. He did get some flack from the Filipino Government for a sketch about a Filipina maid. And he had a big bust up with the BBC over a sketches about The Benefits Family, which they cut from a show just before it was aired because of some current news item concerning child neglect, leaving the show short by 5 mins. All ridiculous in my opinion.
Nelson was duped into making some bad adverts when he got out of prison for a big payday, this is a pisstake of his mistakes and gullibility from not knowing the real world anymore.

I can remember when the film “ Invictus “ came out with Morgan Freeman’s fantastic portrayal of Nelson Mandela , Many a Brit said “ He looks the part but Harry Enfield did the voice better “ 😂😂😂😂
If you're portraying a bee you paint yourself yellow and black, if you're portraying an elephant you paint yourself grey, if you're portraying a black person it stands to reason that you'd paint yourself their colour (it would look pretty odd if you portrayed a black person but maintained white skin 🤔). Nothing in this sketch was mocking Nelson Mandela's pigmentation. We all know that "blackface" has historically been used in a derogatory manner, that does not mean that every person to paint their face black is using it in the same context.
I'm not aware of them getting in trouble. The idea of the joke is that Nelson Mandela was a force for good and would never endorse these kind of products
The big difference between the US and UK is that a majority of black people in the UK see themselves as British and not African British. They don't separate themselves from us and we don't seperate ourselves from them. They get the humour. We do have racism in the UK but it's different. A majority of black people in the UK are descendant of the west indies which was a British colony and were therefore British citizens. So they were allowed to move to the UK and be free men/women. This was a result of the British fight against slavery in 1833 which was 32 years ahead of the US. Black people had to fight for their freedom in the US which is why the subject of slavery is still a bit of an open wound over there. Personally, I don't really care about race, I just see another inhabitant of Earth.
Yeah but the treatment and racism in the US especially from gung ho cops is on an entirely different level. Too many black people have died as a result. So I understand the sensitivity there.
The only reason I can imagine Harry Enfield not getting called out on this years later is either because nobody remembered or just didn't care in all honesty.

The last people to do this were Little Britain and they got lots of backlash in the last few years because of it. I'm pretty sure lots of their material has been removed by the BBC
You might not believe this but in UK back in 60s through to late 70s every Saturday night on BBC we had 'The Black and White Minstrel Show' bearing in mind the only white faces were the ladies, singing and dancing and the guest comedians all the male singers were in Genuine 1860s Southern Style 'black face' ie the lips and a circle around the eyes white everything else coal black make up and....tight black curly wigs (cringe) I bet you won't find that on the tubes ha 🤪😜😇
Yeah our Dad watched it as if it was top class entertainment, while we kids were just bored sh!teless by the whole silly palava - I never, ever found out WHAT the attraction was supposed to be ... same with football ... he stared at it like it was "Open University" ... and to this day, I still don;t understand the fascination of watching people chase a ball ... I guess that after TV was invented, it was only then that they realised ... "HEY - WE'VE GOT NOTHING TO TRANSMIT!" - and it took a few decades (which Nelson mandella pronounces "Dik heds") for them to come up with enough material to fill the few hours just two channels were on air. It's like ANY moving images would do - people in big hats - people would sit and watch people in big hats for HOURS when we were kids, while we were bored out of our little skulls wishing we could shoot ourselves rather than watch yet more showjumping featuring people with big hats, or people in church, featuring people in big hats, or tsome boring royal "event", featuring big hats with people underneath them, - The Good Old Days - people in big hats - Tom Brown's DEPRESSING School days (Kids in big hats) ... I eventually realised we humans are a bit nuts.
Ah the good old days when the simple premise was nothing was 'off limits' for humour, it either succeeded or fell on its own merits.

Everyone is writing that us Brits have this sense of humour and its fine but that's not true at all. 20 years ago this stuff was accepted here but now there's no way in hell it would be allowed to be aired. The last people to do this were Little Britain and they got lots of backlash in the last few years because of it. I'm pretty sure lots of their material has been removed by the BBC
We copy everything that cones from the US especially the bad.
I'd love a review of Harry's music video to Kevin and Perry movie
TV shows & films wouldn't be made with blackface in the 2020s. Those that feature it are rarely shown.
An odd fact is that some of the massively popular BBC 'Black & White Minstrels' were black.
Nelson Mandela was a Nissan main dealer
Kevin And Perry go large is a must
If you think these boys didn't give a fuck, you should check out Little Britain.....David Walliams and Matt Lucas REALLY didn't give a fuck
