Dave is a satellite channel here in the U.K. known for playing endless reruns of Top Gear
This references back to a famous Monty Python sketch called 'Whicker Island' which was an island fiull of Alan Whickers, who was a well know travel and documentary presenter on TV

Has anyone suggested The Fast Show with Paul Whitehouse. He plays some fantastic characters in it, such as Rowley the incoherent drunk, the "brilliant!" kid, one of the "suits you, sir" tailors, and best of all, Ted . Well worth a watch.
Don't forget the car salesman, he got an entire series of his own.

Hey King Boomer, you should do "The Fast Show - Suit you Sir". Paul Whitehouse was a regular on the show. This clip has a very familiar American actor in it, who was a big fan of the show!
The Fast Show was PW's own vehicle while Harry buggered off to Sky 1. The familiar US actor you mentioned described Paul as the greatest actor in the World and appeared after requesting a cameo in the show while he was in the UK.
The Fast Show was written by Charlie Higson and Paul Whitehouse, so not so much a regular as the star then perhaps? The America you elude to is Johnny Depp who was a fan of the Fast Show and appeared in the last ever episode, in the Suits You Sketch.

Harry went on top gear after filming this to drive the reasonable price car for a lap time and they both spoke about this clip, so funny 👍🏻👌🏻🤣
Definitely check out "The fast show" and "Harry Enfield and Chums" for more like this. But also I recommend "The Young Ones" and "Bottom" These two are classed as sitcoms but they're more a collection of knob gags and mindless violence. (Which is a good thing in the case of these shows as they're fecking hilarious.)

I used to love Harry Enfield, but I've hardly watched any of his stuff for years, Harry Enfield and chums was awesome, you should check out a more recent show too which Paul has made with Bob Mortimer called Gone Fishing, it's a bit more laid back and subtly funny, still comedy gold though, they've been good mates right from the early days when Bob first started performing.

The four speaking Clarksons were Harry Enfield (also midi-Clarkson/James May), Paul Whitehouse (also mini-Clarkson/Richard Hammond and the farmer), Justin Edwards and Phil Cornwell (gay Clarkson). The line about most of them ending up on Dave is a reference to the digital tv channel of that name (formerly known as UK Gold Classics) which shows a lot of repeats of BBC shows although it has an increasing amount of new content these days..
Harry Enfield had his own television show over here called “Harry Enfield and Chums”. You should check that out. He has multiple different characters. Very funny.

Harry Enfield was the first person to be interviewed on Top Gear by Clarkson.
Harry and Paul, and That Mitchell and Webb Look are some of the best intelligent skit shows.
Dave is a UK TV channel known for mostly showing repeates of older shows including old Top Gear episodes.
I didn't even know this sketch existed until today. I've watched Harry and Paul shows before and every single season of Top Gear and Grand Tour but this, this is fucking new to me.

Mate Paul and Harry are legends... Paul does a "fishing" show with Bob Mortimer now. There's a story linking them altogether back in the 80's. The Fast Show was another great sketch show.
The thing with these two is that it started off years ago with Harry being the main star of the Harry Enfield show, but Paul worked alongside him for several years just not as a name in the title.
Then Paul went off and did a lot of stuff on his own and working with others (The Fast Show). Then years later they got back together and shared the spotlight with this show.
So if you have seen sketches like "Women know your role", it was from the Harry Enfield show, but Paul was still a big part of it.

Paul Whitehouse is also one of the writers of the Fast Show, which was really popular in its days and still much loved. It's basically a bunch of fast sketches and catchphrases that get funnier the more they do them. One of my favorite sketches was Unlucky Alf, a poor widower that always has bad luck. Welcome to the greatest of British humor. So happy to see it's still appreciated. It's sad these days humor is so self censored to avoid offending certain groups. In that era anyone could have the piss taken and it's fair game - and not malicious. In this sketch it takes the piss out of virtually All forms of men in a Top Gear style. Just really funny 👍and so true today. There is of course loads more - feast! much will have parallels with the USA 👍
For God’s sake, “in those days”, this was only about 10 years ago! And people were complaining that you “couldn’t offend anyone” and all that bullshit even *then*!
Cool fact about these guys. Paul whitehouse and Charlie Higson (comedy partner of theirs) were painter decorators before making it big. And they were the decorators for Hugh laurie (house), stephen fry (national treasure), and emma thompson (2 time oscar winner) while they were at cambridge together

It’s actually an homage to a Monty Python sketch, ‘Wicker Island’, that did the same to a travel journalist called Alan Wicker.

Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer do a fishing series which is extremely warming to watch, called 'Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.' Not really for a reaction vid, but something to have on in the background, its a real gem of a series. Great way to see some of the UK's countryside too.

Paul Whitehouse is better know for all the caricatures he played in The Fast Show. Which is a 90's classic you should check out if you haven't done so yet.

You and your lady need to sit down and go through the Top Gear special episodes (ive said this before).
There were 2 or 3 american specials if i'm not mistaken. The post hurricaine katrina one was the one you saw where they drove through the southern states from florida to new orleans.
The Bolivia, Vietnam, Middle east (nativity) and Polar specials were some of the best tv ive watched. The middle east one was a lot of fun eg '3 wise men bearing gifts for baby Jesus', they drove from iraq to bethlehem. The polar special was intriguing.The vietnam one was probably still my favourite.

As suggested you must check out Paul WhiteHouse on the fast show. Characters such as unlucky Alf, rowley, ‘suit you sir’ tailors and jazz club. Also the typists ‘ anyway anyway’. Carry on the great work!
We all grew up on tons of this funny shit Loads a money, fast show, John Cleese, faulty Towers, Allo Allo, only fools , open all hours, Two Ronnie, Morcambe and wise, Dads Army, Not the 9 o’clock news, The News, etc it’s why Being a Brit is the best thing ever.
Best reaction of the month. Would be nice to see the sketch where a 1940's football team are playing a modern team .. But doesn;t seem easily available - one guy reacted to it a few years ago but the video he used is no longer there.

Some things for you to check out, Harry Enfield and chums. (Wayne and waynetta slob). (Kevin and Perry) pretty much anything really. But these two sets of characters were my childhood. Especially the episode where Wayne married a rich person and had kids.

This particular sketch of theirs reminds me of the classic 'Alan Whicker Island' sketch from Monty Python's Flying Circus in which all of the cast portrayed Alan Whicker who was a very famous documentary presenter in the 1960's and 1970's.
They reference it at the start where they pan pass that island with the theme tune.

The first 2 series of Harry and Paul were much funnier than the second 2 in my opinion. Was lucky enough to see them live in Sheffield in 2015 as Harry doesn't really like touring, was a greatest hits of characters tour for Harry as well as Harry and Paul stuff and was absolutely hilarious and should have been released on DVD. Didn't do this sketch but did some of the black and white vintage parody stuff!

Dave is a repeats channel of the UKTV company that the BBC's licencing arm finally owns all the shares to. Hence buying Top Gear amongst other shows.
Funnily enough, it is their partners in Britbox (ITV, formerly Independent TeleVision) that were the other shareholders to the channels.

All Enfield’s best stuff is written by Paul Whitehouse who’s in this sketch and Charlie Higson. Whitehouse and Higson along with comedy legends like Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash wrote The Fast Show starring Higson, Whitehouse and Aherne along with Arabella Weir (check out ‘Posh Nosh with her and Richard E Grant), John Thompson, Simon Day, Mark Williams - some is surreal but most is laugh out loud funny

Paul whitehouse has been around as long as harry enfield check out the fast show.
They were both employed by the BBC on the same day as teenagers on the old YTS scheme, the only 2 people who ever got anything out of that slave labour Tory "policy". It was Harry that broke through first on C4 with his characters Stavros and Loadsamoney plus on ITV where he was one of the impressionists on Spitting Image where he voiced John Major and Douglas Herd among others.
