Installing Our Stone Veneer (First Time) | Building a House Ep. 16
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 чер 2023
- In this building a house episode we have two weeks to understand the process of installing manufactured stone veneer. Our goal is to complete the entire elevation of our house (1,000 sf). Before we get started on the front of our house we start on the side of the garage and quickly learn that our timing estimations were incredibly off. We learn to appreciate masons work immediately and realize that we've completely gone over our heads with the amount of work that needs to be done. It seems like everything was going wrong in this one!

Ya'll have put an insane amount of work into this house. Gonna be a massive blessing when finished.
I can see Faris and Lisa having their own tv show on the Magnolia network one day. This is already close enough!
That is the sweetest comment, thank you!! We appreciate it so much ♥️♥️
Agree!!
Wow guys!! That must have been so frustrating!! I admire your perseverance. The wall looks great.
This was so stressful but you guys did a great job stay calm lol. Idk if my wife and I would have been as nice to each other during the trial and error with the stones 😂😭
The learning curve is huge and time consuming but you two are killing it! Great teamwork!
Yes, the learning curve kicked our butts in this one but hey now we know how to put up stone!
Nicely done you two!
You guys are awesome!
I really love this show! 👊🏾
You guys are amazing! I’m in awe how you are handling it all like contractors 👏🏽👏🏽. You’re saving a lot of money DIY 👍🏽.
Beautiful home! Can’t wait to see the finished project
Stucco & Stone is my favorite but I’m loving the brick & stone ❤
Chrimus!! What an ordeal. Final product is beautiful, though! Ya gotta love Jerry’s wisdom.
Hahah it was definitely an ordeal. This one put us 2 weeks behind 😆
I'm glad I found this channel. I can't wait for the next one!
Thanks Chad, we’re happy you’re enjoying them 😁
The house is coming along nicely❤ I can't wait to see it completed😊 You guys a doing a great job❤
Thank you!! Appreciate it ♥️♥️
Love this
Well done kids, i loved the grout color. Your doing great, keep it up.
Thank you!! Appreciate the support 😊
It turns out very well! 👍 Good luck building! ✌
Thank you so much! 😊
Olá, sou do Brasil e estou adorando seus vídeos.
Good job👌👍👍
The sped up part of the video makes everything seem so easy lol you guys are doing a great job! i love the videos ... ALSO .. after "the day" happened i wouldve gave up and hired somebody lol so kudos to you both for powering through and not getting too frustrated!
Hahah I know right, we wish it were actually that easy! And thank you, haha in that moment we weren't so sure but sometimes a good nights sleep gives you so much more energy!
Stone is pours. It will absorb water like a spounge. Code minimum is the two water resistant wraps. If you get a lot of rain/water, it could decay inside walls as water vapor enters wall. Adding a rainscreen behind wire mesh and stone is best to allow the water to drain.
Thanks for showing that this is not a DIY project ;) Masons everywhere are thanking you! haha
If you build the house the way you make videos, youll be just fine👍 GJ
Another Video another good day
So glad you enjoyed it!
Stonework is one of the hardest skills to learn and do correctly. You guys really hung in there to be totally honest with you stonework is one of those tasks that I hire out. You've just added another skill that will serve you well going forward. Two thumbs up.
As an aside have you considered sharing some sort of gift registry for your wedding, I bet there are viewers that would love to chip in to get you guys started in your married life.
Thanks BKK, we learned that stone is definitely one of the harder jobs and one of the most time consuming especially with no experience. Not sure we're cut out to be masons but glad we were able to learn the process!
We haven't shared our registry but that is a kind thing to say, thank you :)
Will you guys be posting a new episode any time soon? Patiently waiting 🙏
It looks awesome viejo keep up the good work 👏 one question what's the brand or name of the stone I really like it
Thank you appreciate it!! It’s from Cassa Di Sassi called old world niveo! We’re super happy with how it turned out 😊
@@FarisandLisa happy for you guys. I like the character of the house
Did you not add any lime to the mortar?
Should have used tile mortar it grabs better than masonry mortar
I'm worn out just watching.. but looks phenom!!
Hahah us too, this one was hard to edit due to that reason 😂
I love your videos , I always watching your videos , it's inspired me in building home , I have been wat another channel also , I think your channel is the most I like it , but it's looks the expenditure is too hight
Oh for heavens sakes ....... It's so nice to be young
Haha Faris has some grays coming in after this one.
That job looks MISERABLE. 😄 I'm impressed you stuck with it. Well done.
Hahah it was at points for sure but glad we learned the skills. Slightly overwhelmed by the remaining areas 😅
Where states do you life ?🤔
Michigan!
Your mortar was too dry and to reach that capillary effect you need to soak the veneer in water and don't use that little sprayer for the wall. Use a garden hose instead.
Hi Ronny, You are 100% correct. Once we added more water to the Mortar it was much more effective. Now we just need to get a hose!
@@FarisandLisa And try to soak the veneer by submerging it in water for a few minutes ;-)
Where's the old guy
He's in there!
City couple 🤣
Let me butcher my stone work in peace please.
Please say ur stoning over the brick. Having both brick and stone next to each other is like wearing 2 types of plaid clothing 🤦♂️. No, no, no
