As a mexican it is cool to see what types of ships my ansestors had to use to get to mexico very well made video
Hola Brandon, it was really interesting to me as well. I have never been on a ship like this before, these sailors were very brave indeed to cross the ocean in these.
Spanish History is exhilaratingly romantic and adventurous! ... though still never denying its many perils. ... Now, with modern technology and hygiene who would not love to be at the aft, on the balcony, slowly sailing and drifting away under a clear stary night?! ... My ancestors were Canary Islanders - main European settlers in the South West, and most of the Americas. ... Our people, mostly out of desperation, chanced our lives on these ships away from a constrained Canary archipelago for better lives in expansive territories of the Americas.
Spanish history is absolutely incredible. To see what one of these ships looked like which sailed to the Americas was fascinating. As you said, the first sailors to brave the Atlantic must have been very brave or very desperate. Gracias Jose.⚓️
What a great video traveladdictguy. The interview was very interesting and the ship was amazing.
This ship was amazing and the crew were all so friendly.
I loved this video. It was so cool to see this ship. Thank you for showing it to us in such detail. Galeones brought many things from the Americas. Europe got potatoes, tomatoes, tabaco, cocoa, corn, etc. from places like Perú and México. I think it is so nice to have a recreation of one them and have it take you back to those times. I really enjoyed seeing it and all the information about it.
Glad you enjoyed it! It seems you know more than I do about these Galleon's. It was really fun to get this private tour and the young man was so gracious and nice. Hope you are well.
I don't know that much about galeones. I found the information and your tour quite interesting and fascinating. I can't do what you do. You bring us joy every day. We're locked up due to COVID and we get to learn about and enjoy places through your travels. Keep doing it!
The Atocha shipwreck carried.so much Gold silver emeralds etc. Mel.Fisher definitely found the, mother load in spanish galleons
Columbus ships were the Nina and Pinta they were Caravels the largest one was the Santa Maria which was a Carrack the Spanish Galleons such as this representation did not come till after Hernando Cortes and the Conquistadores starting about in the late 1530s great upload many thanks!
Hi Leo, thank you for sharing all of that great knowledge with my audience. I mistakenly thought this was a replica of one of Columbus's ships when I first saw it. It always pays to talk to an expert, so glad I was able to get this fantastic tour. Thanks again.
1520's.
I toured this ship in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Very Impressive to make a replica and actually sail the same trail as Colombus did in years past.
Hi Pete, that is extremely cool that you toured the same ship over there in Puerto Rico. It's a testament to the ability and skill of the Spanish. Un gran saludo a todos los Puertorriqueños. 👍🏻
I love that ship but i wish they hadn't made it look like a showroom! Its a real ship just let people see it as it is no need for a movie theater.
This ship is amazing and it's sea worthy too. They sell tickets to visit the ship, so I guess they thought they needed to do something extra.
This would make an awesome restaurant.
Hi David, what a fun idea. Would really enjoy going sailing on this vessel one day.
This looks great , great ship. What is a Galleon? Is that like a spanish battle ship in the past? anyhow that is massive!
It was used for transporting goods to and from the Americas to Spain, including gold. This young man that I interviewed tells the story nicely. Thanks for the questions.
What type is ships did women and children from Spain travel in??! Several of my ancestor women and children came from Spain on ships during 1600s.
According to Google they used Galleons to transport, gold, supplies and passengers. So I believe that what they used looked like this ship. I believe that they had much larger ones than this though.
When are you coming to the Phlippines? It would be great to see a galleon sail around the islands again. The Manila Galleons sailed between Mexico and Manila for almost 3 centuries but most Filipinos today have never seen a real one.
That's a great idea Robert. I don't work with them, as I just made a video about the ship. But I think it's a great idea.
Hello new friend.
You have a very awesome video and good.

Thank you 🤗
the ship on which columbus sailed was the santa maria .
I know they set out on 3 ships. The Niña, Pinta and Santa Maria. I did not know how small they were, he told me that this ship is much larger.
@@TravelAddictGuy
yes that's right i love those old ships they are really nicely made your tour on the galleon was realy intresting thanx for sharring 👍
@@chevy-yd2kt I really enjoyed touring this ship. Thanks so much.
I'd make the commentator walk the plank.
They locked me in the dungeon afterwards.😆
Muchas gracias.
he said that Christopher Columbus was the one that discovered America he is wrong Columbus never made it to America he died before stepping foot if you actually go back into history before that time Vikings were the first to set foot here in America
Good point actually, I think that's one for the Historians to debate.
Seems like he was trying to avoid talking about the gold. Carrying provisions to the Caribbean want what that ship was for. That was how they transported the Slavery goods of the people they were shipping the supplies to
I mean it is possible Troy, I just don't know enough about it to say for sure.
Everyone knows what the Spanish empire was doing in the Americas. This wasn’t unique to Spain mind you. Yes these ships were used to transport tons and tons of gold and silver and sugar.
However as a Spaniard it’s still part of their history. A small European nation crossing a vast dangerous ocean on these little wooden ships is rather incredible.
Like it says in the title this ship is not just a replica, but it is also a museum. Part of the purpose of teaching the history is so we as humans do not repeat the horrible parts of it. It pays to view history from a moral relativist lens and not hold modern Spaniards nearly 500 years removed responsible for the atrocities their distant ancestors committed.
@@cnacma the hatians were paying reparations to France for the slavery that their ancestors freed themselves from. And Spain supported that. Spain owes the Caribbean and South American people Reparations. That’s how u prevent a repeat of the past.
@@TroyBrownTV I wasn’t talking about European governments and politicians. Of course european governments owe many decades worth of reparations and help to almost all of the Americas.
I was talking about this one Spanish man on the ship that you said was avoiding talking about these things.
Most of these ships were built in the colonized Philippines then.
I don't remember if I asked him where it was built. I thought he said it was built somewhere in Spain, but I could be mistaken.
@@TravelAddictGuy Search the "Manila Galleon".. Most of the Galleons are made in the Philippines..
@@marktabiolo534 I believe that the man told me they were made here in Spain, but I am not quite sure. It's possible you are right.
@@marktabiolo534 Here is the link, it says it was made in Huelva Spain. www.fundacionnaovictoria.org/el-galeon/?fbclid=IwAR1pmO5Lb5ntbsh57vP53a8KKKirh9jNZtGy0Df3hLMiJ-PMSihQlbkDULY
Province, not colony
The interviewer is annoying. Chill out next time, try to ask question in a calm manner.
Stop with the camera on "me..me...me." That is totally unprofessional in a documentary. Talk to the people that built the boat or have an historical knowledge of such ships.
