Here we are going to teach you all I know about how to make manga in clip studio paint the indepth guide. This a telling of the story of the steps I took to making Note for the Shonen Jump Tezuka Contest. I learned a lot and I think this guide will walk through each step and certain things to look out for as this will save you time when making manga in Clip studio. Hey so I’m still totally lost on the settings for the pages, boarders etc. I tried reaching out to a few printing companies and even tried using their templates but they weren’t much help either. I want to make a manga, I plan to use two pages spreads sometimes and I want the finished printed copies to be the standard American print size for viz prints of 5x7.5 or whatever it is exactly. No one on UA-cam, google, Reddit, or anything else I could find is helping me. Everyone explains what the margins all are (and I get that no problem) but not what settings to use exactly to accomplish this properly. I guess I’m just stupid, but I really need someone to walk me through this process cause I keep thinking I have it and then just end up feeling lost. Any help would be insanely appreciated. Thanks!

I accidentally got pro, but it works fine. I still might get csp for a tablet and get the ex version there. So i can do manga colored illustrations on my computer, and my manga on a tablet, since i enjoy tablets for drawing.

Could you please also do a video on toning comics? These are some things I wonder about when it comes to applying tone. Since we need to apply tone on darker skinned character, how can we make the skin look more lively instead of dull? It wouldn’t look good in my opinion if the skin is simply filled with tone. How can we softly darken the skin on some areas to give the impression of blush? What type of brush & blending mode are best for applying shadows? What type of brush & blending mode are best for applying highlights? What type of brush is best for erasing parts of the tone to create the impression of soft light? What kind of brush is good for creating gentle transitions between different areas that contain tone? How should we apply background tones in a way that fits visual elements of the scene and doesn’t look too harsh? What are the dos and donts of applying tone to a manga?
These are some things I’d like to know about toning manga that I wish would be covered in a video. I haven’t been able to find much info on this topic that shows how to do all of this in Clip Studio.

how do you create you manga? do you format it how Japanese people would read it (right to left?) and where do you submit your manga and is it good to have friends to have a Japanese tongue who can translate your english so there are two language versions?
It depends on the contest it could be right to left left to right it depends tbh. But I submitted to the tezuka and if you want you can have a translator for your manga to have two versions but it’s up to you.
Your video was really helpful; was always confused by how many pages you have to count before starting the story. Are those extra pages necessary?

thanks bro but i really suffering using clip studio paint for sketch step. its like hell for me. i wanted draw all steps digital cause im traditanal but i think i should d that step like ast. even inking part in this sw is heel for me too. photoshop inking is better in my opinin. or maybe i dnt knw how to control in csp

I have bought the program for my laptop and I share the screen on the tablet so that I can draw but a lot of times it lugs and I'm wasting time. If anyone knows a better solution I'd like to know it because I want to send it to a competition and the deadline is near and I have about 40 more pages to do.

thank you for this vid...it's weird for me, i have the story, events, angles, chars, style, and word bubbles in my head...but whenever i try to put those on a canvas, the sorta clean image i had becomes super blurry and i just get frustrated with myself... this is gonna sound even weirder...but whenever i think of my stories, they play out more like an anime rather than a manga...so far i have one short story actually written out / peer-reviewed and a single ongoing one, i haven't really written out in any form. ideally i'd like to express both in manga form, but i really feel like giving up on the longer one and shorter i think would be better, but i didn't originally mean for it to be made into manga so i don't have any visual ideas for it...idk how you or any other creator manage
Art is always better in our heads than when we draw it on paper, that's what learning to draw well entails.
@@thenew4559 I agree with you for sure, but that’s not the really issue I’m facing, my art is about as bad as I expected.
when I think of my story and chars, everything is always in motion, like an animation or anime. so when i try to express said story panel by panel, it doesn’t translate well and looks rather static/bland. also the vision I have of what I want to express becomes blurry. I looked at a few dif manga I liked to see if I could find the issue and what I found is a lot of manga have multiple panels literally zooming in on details like a persons mouth, or their eyes, maybe 3 dif panels of an hour glass falling from 3 dif angles…while I did story boards, i never even thought of doing panels like that to just emphasize small actions like smiling, eyes dilating, or lighting moving…nor is my stuff dynamic at all (tho not being dynamic is 100% due to my lack of art skill & knowledge)
@@SHAJ33 that's understandable. I do think most of us initially envision our stories in our heads like it's moving or animated. It just takes practice to be able to get it down on static panels in a way that still makes the story feel alive. This is as much to do with storytelling ability as it is with artistic ability. Looking for examples and techniques from your favorite manga like you mention can definitely help.
Not that I'm claiming to be an expert at this either, this is just how I feel about it.

I am traditional artist but I need to use it
Why do you need to use it ? You could do it all traditionally and you have month it might be easier to focus’s what you know then spend a month rushing something you don’t have a grasp on yet

@@VandelMarchenStudio so if you hadn't submitted it for Tezuka you would be able to try reuploading note and then submitting it
Nah it’s fine it says you can publish it if it won or it is currently in participating in a competition. If this was for the 2020 competition that would be valid this was last year. So as per the rules it should be ok.

It’s not impossible but you won’t have a lot the features that are exclusive to making manga if you are ok with a bit more work then you’ll be ok
I have a bit of a problem with screentones, whenever i export them their quality degrades alot and they look strange.

Everytime I import an image, the image is like halftone dots and it hurts my eyes, how do i make the images clear and not import with noise. it does it to all images

Just put the page number to what you want look at the page set up section
@@VandelMarchenStudio I've have tried it but it doesn't allow more than 100 pages but I need more than 100 and have no idea how to fix it. Maybe I do something wrong..I dunno..Is it possible to take two pieces of manga with 90 pages each and put them together in one, so that I get more than 100?
