- The guitar used on tour was a miniature Les Paul, built by Nashville luthier David Petschulat and sold to Eddie on the earlier "Fair Warning" tour.
Van Halen - Little Guitars - Live US Festival 1983
Going to a Van Halen concert in the 80s was a life altering event. Every time.
EVH's sound is so distinctive it goes through any sound quality and any speaker quality.
That little Les Paul should be the next signature model.
Yes. EVH would probably have to ask David Petschulat for permission tho
This day was magic, I've heard a lot of stories from this day I was there I have a good story thousands of people were smashed in line at the gate that I was standing at everybody had packed food to take in they made an announcement that no food was allowed in at that moment everybody took their food out and threw it up in the air and it just rained down sandwiches chips hot dog snacks everything you can think of it was really cool to see and then I got to see most of my favorite bands in one day unbelievable the crazy part is I still have the ticket stub it was only $20 and I worked all month in the yard for my mom and she gave me $150 cash to take with me man I miss the 80s
We miss you Eddie
2024! And still missing you Eddie!❤🎸❤️🩹🎶🎵😇
I watched this LIVE on a simulcast on tv and had it blaring through my ghetto-blaster on my end-table. It was on my TV and also being broadcasted over my local radio station back then. I actually recorded the audio with a cassette tape back then. What a cool concert, I had all the bands from “Heavy Metal Day” on cassette tapes. I’m just happy that I got to witness this concert, thanks to CITY-TV Toronto Canada for broadcasting that day 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Q107?
@@24theMoney Back then, CHUM-FM used to be a Rock station, I am pretty positive that it was CHUM-FM, I don’t think Q107 was invented until a few years later, or they weren’t big enough to hold such events. I remember, the first time I heard ZZTOP “Got me under Pressure “ and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’” by Judas Priest was on CHUM-FM. They were waaay better than Q107 has ever been, that station rocked when it was a Rock ‘n’ Roll station. I’m 52 and remember it vividly. CITY-TV(Cable- 79) was the one that simulcast it on TV. It was still number 7 on my TV, but it was called “Cable-79”. Gord Martineau and Anne Mroczkowski were lead anchors on the news and the “Late Great” Mark Daily who said “THIS IS CITY-TV … EVERYWHERE”. God bless Mark Daily, he made that channel everything with his voice and humor.
VH was always like this and it was awesome. They made an arena feel like a house party.
Little guitar!!
Eddy was drunk-Dave sang off key-ok-Alex-went along with it
I thought Dave was the most drunk he fricking was chugging that Jack Daniel’s 😂
And that's a DLR era show lol. If you're going to go after the performance don't forget the off-key background vocals. The worst is the "oooooooh-oh's" by Dave during the bridge 😂. I literally physically cringed during those.... Be that as it may, I love it just the same.
Id only been listening to VH for 30 years before finally discovering this was a VH song. Sure it seems obvious now. But I was mostly familiar with the "Catch as Catch CAN" part and it lived in my brain as some remnant from the 80s than I suddenly click on a random video and my mind is blown
Those radial horns in the kick drum...was Alex using Simmons samples like his 1984 kit?
I still remember the heat.....
The title makes sense.
That little guitar was built in Memphis Tn at strings and things i believe
Nope - Nashville at "The Old Time Picking Parlor" - by me.
@@dp6117 ha! I stand corrected then. I know he did have one from the strings and things custom shop. Hey, that's a cool memory to hang your hat on you've got though. Did he request it or was it something you had created that he caught wind of?
@@willardwayne3 I actually tried to sell that guitar to a handful of other artists before I tracked him down in town waiting to for his ride to the auditorium. He just liked it immediately. Bought it and ordered another one.
Train wreck live performance-but we love it-you know
(after a fill minute) ....oh, I get it...."Little Guitars".
Eddie broke the rules because rules are meant to be broken and he knew them very well.
Well the song is, Little Guitars, so it would make sense to use a little guitar.
Was the bass guitar also short scale??// est-ce que la guitare basse est aussi à court diapason??
No.
Ha. So they play little guitars while playing "Little Guitars" Do they wear Panama hats during Panama?
Etch a sketch, etch a sketch!
*Catch as Catch*
It looks like M.A. is playing a short-scale bass.
little guitars 🙂
There's always that asshole at the concert who ruins it for everyone. David almost got hit by that bottle at 1:39.
HellouKeaty That tlime.
Les Paul Pee Wee I have one
Us Fest is David Lee Roths worse performance.
Thanx Dave
too wasted here....like a fool, he partied hard all day ans was a wreck by showtime
That little guitar sounds better than Roth! 🤭
God David Lee Roth couldn`t sing to save his life!!
He was a clown 🤡
Cocaine is a helluva drug
@@ericm4426 A lot of people probably think you are too.
The whole band was sloppy that day from all the cocaine and booze. They just made a million dollars for one gig, it was time to party.
@flashy5150 no dave sucked his spirit fingers karate kicks he was a douche
Ugh!
What is this?! A guitar for ants?!
Eddie ,Alex, and Mikey were on point. Dave sucked as usual.
Scorpions smoked VH that day, no doubt !!!
Even then Dave sounds awful live.
Drunk !!!
Dave needed to slow down on the booger sugar, his vocals were off, more than usual.
DLR might have been good in the early years but he started to believe his own hype…..saw them years later and DLR was garbage
It's always annoying when the whole band is expected to play the right notes and in ti!e, then Dave is out of time, off key, and can't remember the lyrics. Is it too much to expect that he just sing the damn song? WTF..
good Lord, even this far back DLR is a terrible singer ... in many cases, not even trying
It sounds like they're playing 3 different songs all at the same time. What a mess.
Man, this is terrible.
