The problem nowadays is there is no middle ground. If you are in favor of a wall then you're labelled racist. If you're pro-choice then you're a baby killer, if your pro-life then you're a woman-hater that wants to take away their rights. If you favor owning guns then you must want more mass killings. If you don't want guns that means you want to take away all right to bear arms. There's no talking anymore there's just reaction.our own politicians can't sit down and talk stuff out they have to throw each other under the bus and make each other look bad it's a sad State of affairs in our country at the moment and it makes me sick. The internet is partially to blame for this and it's contagious. Every asshole in the world has an opinion just like me just like you and we're all experts now! Lol 😉

I first want to say that I love you guys and your perspectives on some of my favorite songs! Your interpretations are so insightful and, more often than not, cause me to look at sections of a song or lyrics in a light I hadn't previously considered - so thank you! I started watching your channel for your Tool reaction videos because I am a huge Tool fan, and honestly, a huge Maynard fan. That's why I was so happy to see you've finally branched out into Puscifer, his solo project. It's ultimately a place for Maynard's quirky, sarcastic sense of humor to thrive in an environment without the expections of a certain sound like in Tool or APC.
That being said, I highly recommend you react to the song "Horizons" by Puscifer. To me, it is the epilogue to the Judith story Maynard has been telling throughout his bands. There is a documentary titled "Blood Into Wine", which follows Maynard and his (then) winemaking partner Eric Glomski and gives us a peak into how their endeavor came to fruition. In the documentary, we find out that Maynard scattered Judith's ashes over a section of his vineyard. The grapes that grow in that section are harvested and used exclusively for his top shelf wine "Judith". Lyrics in the song "Horizons" directly reflect these facts. It is quite a beautiful song, my favorite Puscifer song actually.
Anyways, I hope to see you two react to this song in the near future!

  • @crossofcrimson

This may be my least favorite Puscifer song - and I'm pretty sure I've heard them all (lol). I'm not sure why so many Puscifer fans tend to like/request this one, but I'm glad you finally got to give one of their songs a listen.
For whatever it's worth, there's definitely both light and dark in pretty much all of MJK's projects...and I think the further back you dig, the darker and angrier it is. Albums like Lateralus are kind out outliers in that way. But it makes me really interested to see what you guys might think if you get around to doing an Ænima album review; it's quite a bit darker than Lateralus.
All of that aside, Puscifer is kind of MJK's solo project. A lot of the weirder/quirkier stuff that's bouncing around in his head tends to be let out there. It tends to be less serious and more humorous. He's created characters within that project. He's created what I can only describe as "stage shows" with that project. It's just....well....you have to take quite a bit of it with a grain of salt.
That being said, there are actually some incredibly meaningful, beautiful songs he's created through that project that lyrically rival either of his other projects, in my opinion. Really good examples, I think, would be "Momma Sed" (which I think could easily be included in the grouping of songs concerning his relationship with his mother), "The Humbling River", "Horizons", "Monsoons", "Agostina" (which I'd REALLY love to see you guys react to), and "Autumn". Hearing your guy's take on any of these would be really interesting.
In any case, I really enjoyed getting a chance to see this reaction. Congratulations to both of you, again - and please continue do your thing. You bring a lot of joy to many, many people!

I think of Puscifer and APC as the music Maynard always wanted to make and used Tool as a way to get there. When comparing his bands lyrically, Tool is childish. I go to the other two for emotional support. It’s great.

    • @iblamegravity1
      @iblamegravity1 5 років тому +10

@@gimphandjeff Wow, that's just so crazy that you have such an opposite perspective. Puscifur, I thought often has such intentionally immature lyrics. It gives Maynard the opportunity to just make music that he loves & (while still maintaining integrity musically) not always take themselves so seriously. To not be held to such a rigid standard of perfect that Tool has become.

Was not expecting this song. One of my favorite Puscifer/Maynard tracks for many reasons. It's got such a dark kind of beauty reminiscent of A Perfect Circle. Seriously, this is one of the very few tracks that I've overplayed and overplayed and still get the same chills every time. Ugh I love it haha. Also, I'd first been recommended it on Spotify at a time where the message of the track basically exemplified how I felt about a lot of bullshit I was dealing with at the time attempting to moderate a community of people who no longer shared the groups original ideals, and it still exemplifies now how I feel regarding the nonstop sociopolitical tug of war where decent human conversation is all but dead.
Then uhh, well, I have a giant crush on Carina Round (the female singer), sooo there's that... >.>
As far as the message goes, it's pretty much about people who just talk out their ass and are utterly incapable of respectfully opening their ears to an opposing perspective.

Maximum the Hormone - Koi no Mega Lover. They are a Japanese heavy metal band. Very similar style to Pantera

Isuru Nanayakkara Pantera? Never heard that comparison before. If anything they’re more like System of a Down. Also, reacting to MtH is risking a copyright strike.

@@flightgravity7483 Yeah you're right the copy strike might be a risk with them but it'll be interesting to see Vin&Soris reaction and thoughts. And I mean specifically the guitarist is Pantera influenced. He has a tone and groove very similar to Dime. As a unit the band is more SOAD because of their jarry switchups.

The entire Money Shot album is worth a review. Galileo, Agostina, Grand Canyon, and Simultaneous are all wonderful songs.
Humbling River is an awesome one

I know of this band, not familiar with any of the music until now though. Decent song here. Nice bass tone & basslines, good lyrics. I don't know why, but when the line 'Yes, that means were talking down to you' came up, the first thing that popped into my head was a verse from the song 'Contempt' by Entombed; "No matter how low you are there's always someone to look down upon." Ifyou ever get around to Entombed, might as well start off with the debut, Left Hand Path. In terms of provocative lyrics, 'The Truth Beyond' or 'Left Hand Path' are the songs to go with. Musically, I'd go with 'Premature Autopsy' or 'Morbid Devourment.'
Don't know what you have in mind for Halloween, but 'Halloween' & 'Trick or Treat' by King Diamond are songs to consider. Mercyful Fate's 'At the Sound of the Demon Bell' is another good Halloween song too. Of the 3, it's the best song. \,,/_(-,-)_\,,/

By the way - the female voice in the song is Carina Round. She's been involved on pretty much all the Puscifer albums after the first. She's even on the newest APC album [edit: as has been pointed out by socom88man
, this is incorrect!]. She has some solo material out there, and it's excellent! Give her a try!

    Vin
This is the closest I seen you to getting it.
Admitting these are complex issues and being humble to the limits of your knowledge.
I do support what I think you are trying to accomplish as a bridge builder. This song demonstrates perfectly our current state of affairs and I wish it didn’t. I want this song to be a lie.

I'm not sure who the female vocals are done by. I know he's had Milla Jovovich feature in songs before which is awesome.
