- The Nelson Twins, Gunner and Mathew stopped by the store and they’ve been very close friends with Norm for over 30 years. Norm asked them to do "Traveling Man" which was one of their dad’s biggest hits. Check out the harmony blend and their musicianship. They’re using 2 killer vintage Gibson J-200s, one is a 1957 Gibson Blonde and the other is Phil Everly’s Original 1959 J-200 that he used on the Ed Sullivan Show, The Dick Clark Show, and so many others. This is probably Norm’s finest piece of musical memorabilia!

The Nelson twins honour their father with complete class. I love their tribute show.
I had the pleasure of working with Ricky on his last tour, right before his death. I was his AV Tech/cameraman during his performance at the Light Up Orlando outdoor festival in Orlando Florida. He was a super nice guy. A very sad loss.
i seen gunner and matthew at a casino restaurant they were so gracious and polite to the staff .. much respect to you guys 🙏🏻
good family all around
No question Ricky Nelson has a great catalog of legendary songs that have stood the test of time. So many great memories are always made at Normans rare guitars!
My older brother Don was a massive fan of both Ricky Nelson and James Burton and got to meet Rick and the family and James at the Palomino Club in North Hollywood many years ago. They were all polite, friendly and down to earth James ended up becoming a personal friend and would get my brother free tickets to his concerts until the promoters stopped it from happening. He got tickets to both Elvis concerts, John Denver and Jerry Lee lewis. What a complete gentleman James Burton was and one of the best guitarists of all time. The lead solo on
" Hello Mary Lou" still holds up till today.
@@rexjamerson9316 that's a great story.. thanks for sharing! I had the Good Fortune of seeing James Burton with Jerry Lee Lewis back in the late nineties in Washington DC at a show. I would have loved to seen Elvis as a young kid. He came to my area every year but we never got tickets.
@@rexjamerson9316Hello Mary Lou is a cover song. Johnny Duncan wrote & recorded it earlier.
You guys are great! I know your father is proud of you both. Thank you for singing one of my favorite songs. I will be 76 next month so you know I watched, Ozzie and Harriot on TV. That's where I first saw your dad. Great singer and great actor. Also loved your grandparents. Thanks for the memories. 💝
I am 72 and loved Ricky Nelson and Ozzie & Harriet. I still watch it today
I, too, watch Ozzie and Harriet every night. I'm 71 and I love the old fashioned values as well as the shows. Of course, music by Ricky or Ozzie is a bonus.
These guys are awesome. They pay classy tribute to their family history.
I went on a Royal Carribean cruise several years ago, and when we got on board, we found out the Nelsons were going to be entertainers for the cruise. We caught every one of their shows. Great entertainers and they genuinely seem like nice people.
❤❤❤GREAT !! ... THE NELSON FAMILY WERE GREAT PEOPLE. OZZIE & HARRIOT, DAVID AND RICKY ! 😀 R.I.P ..... A GREAT TV SHOW WITH A REAL FAMILY. ❤❤
I was lucky enough to see Ricky Nelson in concert in the late 70s.
Dad would be so proud ❤❤
Great. I can hear their Ricks voice in there loud and clear! Brilliant.
I was fortunate to meet Ozzie an Harriet many years ago. Fantastic people.
Lovely to see this families younger generation so proud of their Dad and grandparents. Keeping the legacy alive.
I would lay in front of our B&W TV as a kid & wait for Rick Nelson to get out his guitar sing on the TV show…he was the best I thought & I had to learn to play the guitar, which I did. I see he has passed on his good looks & musical talent to his sons…those were the best years for television & that show was a favorite of mine.
Love the twins! So talented. Their father must be so proud.
Both Matthew and Gunnar have outlived their father...it's good to see that they are carrying on with the family legacy.
I took my older sister Mary to see Rick at Summerfest. Hello Mary Lu was her Favorite song. We ran into all of our female cousins. It was a showering of red roses and Rick ♡♡♡
Ozzy and Harriet were on our b & w every Sunday night.
My Fav Rick song is
Garden Party.
I'm only 71😅
These guys are cool. Good players, and they keep that flame burning.
I was lucky enough to meet Ricky Nelson in the summer of 1967 when I was 13. He was filming a summer show he wrote and produced at Leo Carrillo state beach above Malibu. He allowed me to come daily and sit behind him while he filmed the musical show. I got to meet all the artists that performed, the Turtles, Doors, Leslie Gore, The Pair Extrodinaire just to name a few. He was very tolerant and kind to a 13 year old girl. I got his autograph and those of all who performed the week I was there on vacation. I have never forgotten that summer.
Wow! What an experience you had!!
I was born in 42 and watched the show from the start. I rescued a baby duck once and named it Ozzie but should have named it Harriet because when it matured she started laying eggs 😊
I was born in the late fifties and grew up watching Ozzie & Harriet. LOVED Ricky! Gone way to soon. Good to see his sons continuing some of his music!
Ricky died on the same day my youngest daughter was born. Great joy and great joy and great sadness all in the same day. Very cool guitars, great playing and singing. Thank you for keeping you father's memory alive.
My older sister was a huge Rick Nelson fan and so I started watching The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet when I was young. If I stayed very quiet, I got to stay up past my bedtime and watch Rick sing at the end of the show.🧡
Thank you for sharing the Nelson twins with us. Rick's kids. He would be so proud.
I was a young boy about 9 yrs oid growing up in Ct when I heard this on the radio for the first time, I remember my Mom being there also and to this at 72 yrs old I clearly remember how much it caught my ear. Mom was digging it too. One of those childhood memories that you hold dear for a lifetime. Thanks Ricky !
Oh, the memories come rushing back. I was blessed to see Rick and The Stone Canyon Band in concert before he passed. An evening I will never forget. Thanks so much for this!
Rick's songs at the end of the Ozzie and Harriet shows inspired me to beg my parents for a guitar. They bought me one and lessons, too. I still have it. Norm and staff recently repaired it- expertly.
I remember seeing Rick(y) Nelson with two of my friends when we were about 12 yrs old so I guess it was about 1957. He performed in a rodeo venue at a fair in our city. We told ourselves before his concert that we weren’t gonna be those silly girls who scream. Ha! We screamed so much we were hoarse afterwards. We were on the second row from the stage. I can just remember seeing those dreamy blue eyes of his. That was the highlight of my life! Thank you, boys, for keeping your Dad’s music alive. Nothing better!❤❤
What a wonderful memory to have !
I can remember watching this when he first sang this. Such good memories.
Ricky would sing with his eyes closed. That always fascinated me. Made his music dreamy.
I met them both a few years ago. They stopped in for lunch at a restaurant I was working at at the time. They were so kind, polite, and so gracious. I was kinda fanning out.lol. They were so nice to me and it really meant so much to me.
DNA and Genetic imprinting is awesome. The Nelson twins prove it. Thank you Norm for having them. Y'all put a big smile on my face and soul.
I love that these guys keep honoring Rick Nelson and also have their own music. I love the comment, "since Moby Dick was a minnow and the dead sea was just sick" ..That is funny
So great! RIcky Nelson was my 1st crush at 3! Couldnt wait to watch him sing at the end of Ozzie & Harrietm early '60s, even reruns. My young mom watched it.
It’s 73 this brings back some good memories awesome
The Ozzie and Harriot was a great show back then. Glad to see you guys playing just like Dad. Los Angeles
What a performance nice job dudes!!!
I loved these guys back in the 1980s! beautiful then and beautiful now. And what great harmony! So special to hear them singing their dad's song. Thanks for the video!
Awesome all around 🎸🎸🤠🎤🎤🤘😀🥰 love this song ❤️
My favorite song of your dad's thank you for this
I am glad they mentioned that Travelin' Man was first rock video, I remember seeing that broadcast, James Burton standing behind Ricky. What they didnt mention is the Nelson Twins are the 3rd generation of a family with a #1 hit, starting with Ozzie & Harriet in 1935 with the song "And Then Some", hows that for a "family business"
Loved this!
These gentlemen are talented entertainers.
I love the Nelson twins I just loved their dad I was a huge fan of his and the tv show.the twins are very good looking two. They also have a beautiful sister. They sound like their dad. I am glad they are singing Rick's music it brings back memories. Love you both ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You gotta check out videos of his youngest, Sam Nelson. Spitting image of his dad and sounds just like him.
I’m 72 and I used to watch it every week
Me too
Me Three
I'm 72 also and watched it all the time.
Me too.😀
Same here! Miss those good times.
Saw the Nelsons a couple of different times in Minot, ND. They are the real deal, as are great singers as well as musicians. Got their autographs and talked with them both times as they as friendly as can be. I was impressed as to how much better they have become playing their guitars as they have really worked hard to improve musically. Of course their voices and harmony are fantastic as you would expect with Rick Nelson as their father. They put on a wonderful show that really celebrates their father’s music that is still to this day as relevant as ever, and really is a great show for everyone to see. If you have a chance to see it you will not be sorry!!!
rick is so proud of his boys looking down on them from heaven!!!
Was listening to lots of Rick last night, the Nelson family is talent personified. They don’t make them like this anymore
All good people I’ve heard. Would love the days of good wholesome entertainment like the Nelson family used to offer back.
I did not know about these fellows , although I did watch Ozzie and Harriet. They are great and a testament to their father. Thanks you.
Thank you so much for keeping the Legends alive- The entire Nelson family legacy, great music, great people, great, great guitars- Uncle Norm, Matthew & Gunner, & Joe Bonamassa thanks for the concerts & the cruises & the chance to hear these guitars played again.
10 stars how great to his memory continue on,never missed O&H wnen I was growing up.
I love that they mentioned Elliot Easton, an underrated guitar player who recorded one amazing solo after another for The Cars.
The Cars were one of the best bands, and Elliott always had memorable, singable solos...with that great, Gretsch sound!!
@@joycerichardson1810Except on "My Best Friend's Girlfriend", where he used a Tele and TOTALLY paid homage to James Burton with that rockabilly influenced guitar solo!
@@shawnuel Good to know!
Nice tribute to their pop. Well done.
A true legend I grew up listening and watching it the nelson family and now the family is still going with their talent wonderful talent
I was born in 1950, the perfect time to launch pad to see everything and everyone that people are nostalgic about today. No exaggeration to say I saw every episode of “Ozzie and Harriet,” and then every music act except the Beatles between about 1963 and maybe 1975 or so. Seriously, all of them. And a real highlight was sitting on the floor of the gym at a little college in San Marcos, Texas, and loving every minute of a Rick Nelson performance. It’s sad he had to appear in venues like that, but I’m very glad I was living just up the road in Austin at the time and was able to catch that show.
I’m close to Matthew and Gunnar’s age. I loved Ricky Nelson in the 70s and 80s immensely. Was floored when they came out with their own albums. I was heartbroken when Ricky died. I’ve been lucky to see the Nelsons doing their own music. I have also seen Ricky Remembered. Absolutely great musicians. Ricky would have loved everything they’ve done. Bless their hearts.
Awesome. I saw Rick Nelson at Gilley's in Pasadena Texas many years ago.
That was wonderful. Love Ricky and the twins. Keep spreading the word.
I use to sing this song as an 8 year into a fan on the floor to get that echo sound. Had a crush on the handsome and charismatic Ricky Nelson at the time.
These two are such great singers!!
I first heard this song on a cassette tape compilation produced by CBS and sold at Shell fuel stations in 1989 called "Cruisin' Classics".
I love their tribute! 🎯
I met them in Houston in 03-ish and they were super nice and signed my record of their Ricky Nelson tribute album! Super nice guys!! I was trying to convince to do more music like they did in their glam metal days. Their acoustic versions of those early songs are fire 🔥!!
That was great. I could picture Rick in my mind as this played out. And for that i thank you Norman and of coarse Gunner and Mathew Nelson. On a personal note. I knew a guy all the way from grade school to 20 years after high school who's name was Gunner Nelson. We were good friends up until the day he passed away. He got a bee sting and was highly allergic . As fate would have it he didn't have his kit with him that day he went for a hike alone down by the river to enjoy a beautiful summer morning.
That was great!! I love the solos you can hum too! Could listen to these two all day.
I absolutely love guitar solos but detest with a vengeance when they go on far, far too long. For me it ruins the songs; but that really is more about live versions than album and single versions. But yes... guitar solos give me the shivers sometimes, they really hit deep.
Thank you! I grew up listening to my mom's Ricky Nelson album. It is one of my best memories.
Ricky is smiling down on his sons.
In the late 80's was in Koseg Hungary, ended up in a wine cellar, the people there didn't speak english, but eventually we all bonded by singing, "Hello Marylou" at the top of our lungs. That song brought us together and good time had by all. That's the power of Rick Nelson.
Wow! Two chips off the old block. Great job.
These guys are great. 👍🏻
You guys were in line ahead of me at the Austin Texas airport way back in the early 2000's. At first I didn't recognize you because I had only seen you on the David Letterman show when you both had very long hair. Then it dawned on me and I was floored. Both of you were complete and thoughtful gentlemen as I remember it. God Bless to you both and your great dad.
That was terrific seeing the Nelson twins. I watched the Ozzie & Harriet show growing up and listened to the songs of their dad, Ricky Nelson. Their parents and grandparents would be so proud of these two! They play and sing great and both of them light up the room with their warmth and respectfulness for music!
I absolutely loved Ricky Nelson,
Loved Ricky Nelson, my husband did look like him! Best memories, still play his records, yes records! So great to see and hear his sons The Nelson Twins❤😊
They are so handsome!
I collect autographs. 100's. The Nelson's have been the nicest and sweetest I ever met. I asked for their autograph on one of their sweat towels. Johnny Rivers, too, at the same event. Johnny Rivers wrote a small 'JR' on his (that I used as a rag at home and threw out.) The twins, however, drew their caricatures on their's with nice autographs. Framed and relished, forever and forever!
Awesome tune.....awesome job guys.🎸👍
So nice.. great job carrying on your Dad's legacy...
This was so awesome. I have to watch the original now.
I still almost remember the TV show when Ricky sang that for the first time - the kid next door to me in Chicago looked and sang just like Ricky - M y mother looked at one of Rickys album covers sitting on a table and ask him when he had that picture taken, they looked so much alike - his name was Harrison Homer Smith - some kids told me to get a Traveling Man tattoo because of how I wondered everywhere - I was in the Navy 3 days after I turned 17 and traveled around the world under water - Lonesome Town is another great one - Ricky had so many great songs that he play in every episode before it was released -
WE MISS YOU JEN!!!
where is she? hope all is good.
Loved, Rick Nelson and his songs. So happy his son's are carrying on with their father's legacy. 🧡💛
This was cool!!!!! I remember going to one of their dad’s concerts at orchestra hall in Minneapolis probably in the early 1980s. Thank you all!
It's good to see you boys again! I was one of those teenagers in love with your father, and I loved watching the Ozzie and Harriet show. It's nice to see the resemblance to your dad, and hear his voice again when you sing his song!
I loved Ricky, and watched The Nelsons on TV here in Melbourne Australia.
I sister had posters of Elvis on her wall. I had Ricky Nelson on my wall! Loved him.💖💖💖
Nice to see the twins playing Ricky's travellin man , he was an awesome entertainer with many enjoyable hits
The highlight of my week waiting for Ricky to sing…I met him in phoenix back in 74 during a fair…my band had the same agent… Betty Kaye
Excellent. In summer 1985 I was travelling in the US, and whilst waiting at Madison airport, I saw Rick Nelson and his entourage pass through the terminal. Sadly, he was gone less than six months' later.
Always a pleasure to see two talented POLITE people.
Oh Wow. Very good and very enjoyable !!! I sure loved Ricky Nelson when I was a teenager!!! ♥️♥️♥️
I am 77 and remember all
Thank you for this wonderful memory. It brought tears to my eyes. I remember seeing this when it was originally aired on tv.
How fun is that , geez you have such cool goodies!
Great stuff and love the mention of Elliott Easton.
Norman is always name dropping. The dude in the white hat sounds and looks just like his father. I would have guessed they were older than they are.
Great version! Thanks.
Loved this! Thank you, so much, for sharing!
That was awesome! Thanks Norm!
I just missed one of Ricky`s last shows at a small club. I remember hearing the news thinking, he was just here.
Thanks guys you sound great. I enjoyed your Dad and was sad when he died. I always liked Garden Party and thought he was spot on in his offering.
Thank you, Norm. And the Nelson Twins are great! So good to see you fellows.
