  • ------ LIGHTSABER ACADEMY: / starwarsirl -----------------
    I created a Patreon tier ONLY for those who wish to become true Jedi and learn how to build your own lightsabers. You’ll get special access to long-form videos where I show you how to build a lightsaber from start to finish, explaining every step along the way.
    ------------------------- --------------------------------- ---------------------------------
    Now that I finished re-wiring the accent LED, it's time that I assemble it into the lightsaber WITHOUT breaking everything this time!!

    Hey I was wondering if you could do a sort of “buyer’s guide” for this. Not for prebuilt lightsabers, but for things like where to order parts, how to understand which specific parts make sense for a specific hilt, etc.

    I would totally be down for a star wars cooking series trying to make star wars foods that would be dope but lightsabers looking good I could never do something like that

    Your soldering has made a slight improvement, you tinned the wires in the second half in the video which is a step forward. Still, you are stripping your wires too long, and creating short circuits between the power leads for the LEDs and the copper heatsink. This will damage some combination of the LED, the chassis, the battery, or the soundboard. You need to create a non-conductive barrier between the bare copper and the power leads with electrical tape or something like that.

    keep up the good work!

  • @thatkidrich

    That isn’t going to work. You are putting a resistor on the negative of a neopixel. The resistor goes on the data line. 330 or 470 ohm . And you don’t need a heatsink for a single neopixel. You are making it way harder in yourself

    • @adamgoad4131
      @adamgoad4131 3 роки тому +1

      All correct. Neopixels don’t need heat sinks ever. They will also not illuminate at all without a data line, as Rich said, to tell the pixels what to do. As he also stated, that is where the resistor goes.
      Pro tip: test as you go. That way you don’t get really far and it’s not working.
      Next time try a bench test of all the electronics outside the saber and are working good. Much easier to spot an issue

      @@adamgoad4131 I feel bad for the kid. He is trying, but he is spending too much time on things that will absolutely disappoint him. I don't know where he is getting advice from, but I want him to be successful. There is nothing better than building your saber, pulling the kill key, and hearing that glorious boot sound for the first time.

    • @wudz_fpv
      @wudz_fpv 3 роки тому +3

      Not to mention he is creating short circuits between the leads for the LEDs and the copper "heatsink".
