These stories are heartbreaking, no one Government, person or entity can solve all of the problems in Jamaica, or in any other Country for that matter, but since some of these stories are carried in the Gleaner, it raises awareness, and some of us on an individual basis, where the contact information is known may reach out and make personal donations to the cause. I am a Minister of the Gospel, I was born in the UK, of Jamaican parents and truly Jamaica is my heartbeat. It has been many years since I last visited the Island, but I am wondering if there may be anyone out there, who lives in the USA who may feel as I do. I feel that it would be beneficial to have a Fund/An Organization/A charity set up- a sort of Jamaica Emergency Fund, where people can make donations, and where those funds can be specifically directed to the individuals/hospitals or Charities involved in Jamaica. Where things can be done properly with full accountability so we know that the funds go to their intended recipients. This task is much bigger than me, but I am just wondering if anyone may feel the same way that I do, we may not have a lot of money...but based on the proverb "one one coco full basket' if the small efforts of many could be multiplied, then we could help to build some of those houses, buy the medications, pay for the treatments and step in with that helping hand to help our people in Jamaica, especially when that emergency help is needed. Please respond to me if you feel the same way and would be willing to embark on this journey with me. I don't know the first thing about setting up a Charity, fundraising or any such thing, but I am willing to find out, and work with those who may feel that this is worth doing. Thank you and God bless. _
Sir I feel exactly the same way as you do. However Jamaica the Land we love is not good when it comes to accountability.. I personally collected items of clothes / toiletries/Sanitizer/ shoes/underwear for the elderly lots of other items for the infirmary. With the help of chucrh people and friends we managed to send 2 loaded Barrells. The Matron would not send me an email to state she had received the 2 barrells. I needed the email to show to the people where the stuff had gone to. Needless to say I don't send to the infirmary anymore. I always looked out for the disabled and the poor as well.
I agree with every single word u said, trust and believe I shared almost d same exact point u listed with my mom just like about a couple of days ago if something could b put in place for our Jamaican ppl not just housing, but education, health etc. your not alone with your thoughts my dear

Absolutely, all of a sudden Jamaica has become Charity Central, everybody coming out of the woodwork. I have no problem helping people who are sick and elderly and clearly having a difficult time, but no, my money not going to anyone young and able. The dependency needs to stop, what a generation of lazy people.
Why cant her daughter in law and son find a job or buy chickens or something. Nothing seem to be wrong with that young lady. No sah, mi a wok too hard in a New York fe help people who can work but wont try.
Is the daughter in law and son working???? she need to look out for herself not the entire son and others. They are strong young people can go work.thwy are not disabled. why is she talking bout suicidal thoughts??NOT convincing me at all.her sons need to go out a work and help her.
Maybe the charity can screen some of these forced homeless people. Surely if they have been living undisturbed for the period of time that is captured by the SQUATTERS RIGHTS LAW, they have legal rights to ownership of the land.
So many people in Jamaica needs helped this is very sad what is the government doing about it the young people needs to start making plans for there life and there children mom is getting older she needs help her self.
What is the issue with the son and daughter in law. Give me a break here! Or am I the only one see the ridiculousness here. Why is the lady the only one seemingly care about finding work? The daughter in law seem pretty able bodied and smart to me or am I being confused? The game is so obvious. Set up the distress lady to beg for help so able bodied daughter in law and son can live happily ever after and bring in more kids. Rubbish!
You are not the only one, nothing is wrong with this young woman. So we must work to support her, her able bodied man, and children, Girrrrlllll, get out of here.
