- PDP has been designing new Switch Pro Controller replacements since the system launched and have continued to add new features like the headphone jack and now RGB lighting. While I'm still not sold on this controller, I will give PDP credit with this Afterglow controller due to its customization with the lighting.

Not sure if you can sand the inside due to parts used to held the thing togheter may break or not fit properly id say spray paint the inside.
Super nostalgic about this controller i had an afterglow controller for my Xbox 360 when i was like 11. i had alot of good times with that thing

It started years before that my friend. My first game pc was the zx spectrum 81. And before that we just had 2 lines on the screen bounching a " ball". It became more interesting after the atari consoles.

I think a matte finish or a frost/translucent plastic will work wonders for that RGB
Soft touch matte clear finish would be good. Would make the controller feel great and also diffuse the lights

Saw this last week at Walmart and was hoping you'd review it. The headphone out and "scuff" buttons pretty much have me sold.

frosting it should be relatively easy. take it apart and spray the front shell (on the inside) with frost paint.

I like the rgb light aspect of the controller, but otherwise I haven't seen the appeal of transparent controllers, but a frosted one sounds nice

I've had this controller for over a month now and I love it. Much better than the PowerA controllers. If you don't care about the extra features of the nintendo pro controller, then this controller will work just fine.
The Afterglow Wireless Deluxe has been around for some time now. I own 1 and after a few months of use, the paddles have begun to go soft and lose their tactile or clicky sound. Despite that, they still work but, I have a feeling that over time the paddles will need a way to be repaired and that would most likely involve having taking it apart.
The Afterglow Wireless Deluxe controller is really awesome regardless of it's minor setback with paddles. It's essentially 2 hard plastic prods that make contact with 2 soft buttons. There's the problem right there. Perhaps an alternative paddle cover with softer prods would be something to look into, rather than manufacturing a whole new controller.

I have this controller for the Wii U and it’s pretty good. I also want to say chill. Back when we had this controller for the Wii U we could only choose one color. We had to use batteries, and the grip was the same. Then I remembered this was a review. But honestly the plastic isn’t that bad.

I had the afterglow controller for my 360 and my WiiU. I've seen this at Walmart and have been tempted. I might just have to get one.

I actually have the xb1 and 360 afterglow controllers and theyre pretty good. I hope this one feels as right as those
i have one but doesnt turn on anymore i think theres something loose inside of the controller and thats why it doesnt turn on

Great tech wave video Jon(SW). I've had my eye on this Controller cuz i do like my Afterglow Controllers. I've got the WiiU Afterglow Pro-Con which i think is Wireless and has Rumble, I've also got the Afterglow Wii Remote n Nunchuks also plus i have a pair of Afterglow Headphones aswell lol.
I had a wireless afterglow controller from this brand for the Wii U. The controller looked super cool. But the battery refused to charge after 2 years. :/
This will be great with a soft silicone cover.

Just a little idea for whoever made this controller. You should make all the clear plastic just non clear black. And then put little cracks in it. That would look awesome.

Lol yes as soon as you said breakaway My old xbox came to mind and how many times that thing saved my consol from being torn down. I completely forgot about this lol
It's fine for what it is, and the RGB is nice. But it's a hard sell if you already bought the controller (the red one PDP) Spawnwave showed with the same functionality. A transparent frosted shell would've been interesting and perhaps within cost for them to do, but it's not a deal breaker for me. What is the deal breaker is the fact I own a few of their wired ones already.
Not a huge fan of seethrough and RGB peripherals personally, I always keep my gaming pc case RGB off as I find it distracting, especially at night. I like the original Switch Pro Controller aesthetics much better as it has just enough seethrough to compliment it’s black matte finish. It is nice to have choices though and I’m sure plenty of people will love this, it’s nice that you’re able to turn the RGB off.
I bought this because I was looking for a controller to play in my PC, it's great as an extra pro-controller when playing Smash. Much more fair than handing a drifting Joy-con.

The headphone jack is my main reason to pick it up, just wish it was wireless
Speaking of something running through a controller cord and ripping a console down, probably 4 or 5 years ago we were playing the PS2 upstairs and the dog ran through the controller cord. The PS2 was pulled off the shelf, which yanked the av cable, pulling the bottom of the TV back. The TV then started falling over and was held up midway by the audio cable hooked up to our speaker system. And that's the story of how the audio out plug on our old TV broke and probably the reason why said TV quit working a year ago.

My wireless Afterglow controller is my favorite. I like seeing the circuit board and customizing the lighting to go with the game we are playing. It is pretty comfortable and the two programmable bottom buttons are convenient. The battery lasts a decent amount of time too. I do use Xbox joystick caps for a better grip. I agree that it would be nice if they did frost the grips and added a couple more lights. It still makes me feel fancy.

I remember one time I was playing my switch with my sister and she had a cheap wired controller and the dog walked by and pulled everything down but thankfully everything was fine
I just bought that today and it’s overpowered
I’ve been using it for a week now. Playing everything from Fortnite to Witcher 3.. works great and looks better if playing in the dark.

I got one of these for free and I really like it, it doesn’t have rumble but I usually play animal crossing on my switch so rumble isn’t a huge thing. I really like that the button aren’t stick like some other controllers and I dont mind the 4 leds being visible. This is just my opinion on it

would be cool if the lights react depending on the situation in the games like the ps4's controller or the PS Move controllers do.
for an example if the cops starting to chase you in GTA V the Dualshock 4 light bar will blink red, blu and yellow, or in Spyro The Reignited Trilogy the Dualshock 4's light bar will represent sparks health colors.
Little Big Planet 3 is the only game that will gives you the ability to chose your favorite color because as far as I know the Dualshock 4 have a mind of its own to pick the color it's desire as there's no way to make the light bar glows with your favorite color.

You could probably make it “frosted” by taking a bit of fine grit sandpaper to the insides of the shell. Sanding the outside would reduce the slipperiness of the plastic somewhat, but it’d also make it a bitch to keep clean, and would get rubbed smooth again pretty quickly...
PDP, make a frosted/matte version. WE NEED IIIIIIT
hopefully the quality is better than when I had their controller for the wii cause I had one that broke several times

Just bought this , as the other controller died after a few days off use - as the instructions are far to small to read. Really don't understand why they print it, came across your channel an help a bit to change the lights all is good
Lightning or micro USB only, because if you have USB see you could get mixed up with a more powerful cable and destroy your device (like maybe thunderbolt 3)
for some reason when i played warface the other day, gyro is turned on automatically for that game and i was using the afterglow controller and for some reason it appeared to have gyro functionality. however i don't think the switch lets you calibrate the gyro on the controller.

Afterglow finally made a Switch controller? I've started using their controllers since Xb360. I have a Prismatic XBONE controller too. Haven't ever had a problem with their controllers, besides them using Micro USB (which wasnt an issue on 360)
